    Was wondering if it really tasted like meat. Unfortunately, it is still grilled on the same broiler that grills meat. Back in the day (1999) BK had a different broiler, made by Duke. It featured a continuous running chain and a slot that was supposed to be used only for the grilled chicken patties. If they were still using this kind of broiler a separate lane would have still be available so that the cooked meats would never come in contact with the fake meat. It now uses Neico which only allows you to cook roughly 4 or 5 things at a time on the same rack, ejecting them when the timer said its done. The Duke model, due to its continuous chain operation was capable of cooking more meat at the same time frame and also toasted the buns on a bottom feed.

      Your company needs to go back to the drawing board with this alternative to meat burger patty, because I had a Rebel Whopper last night and I honestly can say that the Smokey flavour is extremely overpowering and horrible in my opinion.
      I couldn’t eat more than a couple of bites.
      Cut back the smoke flavours by more than half at least or even better still don’t even have the smoke flavours would probably be a step in the right direction.
      I won’t be ordering another Rebel Whopper at Hungry Jacks.
      The original HJ veggie whopper was 100% better taste in comparison.
      Great idea but the flavour ruins it sorry.

    • @Siberius-
      @Siberius- 5 років тому +6

      Flavour was fine for me. Thought it tasted damn good. Could hardly tell the difference. Maybe mine just wasn't charred lol. I'll definitely be getting more. First fake-meat product I've tried too.

    • @jobevan2817
      @jobevan2817 5 років тому +2

      Siberius Wolf
      Mine wasn’t charred or dark in colour..
      It wasn’t dry either.
      The overpowering smoke flavour is from the “smoke flavouring “ they’ve used in excess amounts.
      Reminds me of liquid smoke as far as the smell and taste is concerned. But way too strong.
      For me, It ruined the whole burger taste.
      As a side note:
      I’ve eaten a few different brands of vegetarian and vegan meat alternative burger patties and they’re 100% better than what HJ is currently offering as an alternative burger patty.
      I could smell the smoke additive the minute I got the bag of food.
      Anyway, glad that you’re okay with the taste.
      Definitely not a meat free version I’m having again.
      I’m not the only person who hates the overpowering smoke flavour.

    • @Siberius-
      @Siberius- 5 років тому +2

      I'm not familiar with smoke flavouring. Maybe they used less for me, or maybe I just don't notice it as much.
      Not sure. Sounds like they could cut back a bit.

    • @Siberius-
      @Siberius- 5 років тому

      I tried another one from another place, and it was even better lol. Parents thought it was great too. Girlfriend thought it was great.
      I looked out for the smokey flavour, and it's there, but certainly not overpowering by any means. At least not for me or the people I mentioned, from those stores.
      Edit: Had 3 now, and it's the same story.

      While it may be like only 10% healthier (no cholesterol), its 100% less cruel and 95% better for the environment while being pretty spot on in terms of flavour. Seems like a no brainer to me #govegan

    • @Siberius-
      @Siberius- 5 років тому

      @@brettartie - This burger is not vegan. It's kind of vegetarian... but that's still just as bad for the environment as meat products, as far as factory farming and the such.
      Certain fats are shit, yes (the added oils to this burger are seemingly healthy fats), but it still has the other fats too. Salt was the other reason mentioned, but salt is still a big debate in the medical community if it's even a problem at all.

      @russbear31 5 років тому

      You do have "Hungry Jacks" in Canada. It's Burger King. For some odd season they call it Hungry Jacks down under. Last year Burger King rolled out the vegan "Impossible Whopper" but you could only buy it in one North American city (St. Louis, Missouri), where they test marketed it. It was hit. BK planned to roll it out across the US and Canada, but there has been a delay in the US. Long story short: The American cattle ranchers are going to the states/fed government and demanding new labeling laws for vegan "meat" products. They're trying to weigh them down with government red tape to keep them off the market. Canada might get the Impossible Whopper before the US.

    Plants don't have a central nervous system like animals do to feel pain. Trimming a plant would feel to the plant like us trimming our hair or fingernails and fruiting plants are designed to drop their fruit. Studies have shown chemical reactions in plants if you cut them but that does not equal distress or pain like they would have you believe.

    I’m actually visiting Australia for a 3rd time right now but Burger King in the US has the same thing (no surprise) but instead of it called the rebel whopper, it’s called the impossible whopper
    Hay fever here is kicking my ass right now though

    Birds also poop out seeds and then they grow trees... but not if the poop lands on your car. So there is a win for the birds and a fail for the poop.

    Good honest review, will give it a go. Regarding killing plants, plants do not have brains or central nervous systems and therefore cannot think, experience suffering, pain or fear like us and other animals do.

    Just tried one with cheese. It’s... ok as a vegetarian burger but it can’t hold a candle to the Beyond Burger served at Grill’d; I’ve yet to sample an Impossible Burger. That ‘smoked’ flavour additive overwhelmed the flavour and it lacks the juicy bleeding effect that the Beyond achieves with the oils and beetroot juice. Perhaps the manufacturer V2 foods could prove a smart investment if they ever go public.

    It's a tasty burger. Doesn't taste like a normal whopper - more like ground up pork sausage, but isn't bad at all.

    It was scorched. It wasn’t well done. It was scorched.
    If it had mayonnaise, then, it wasn’t vegan.
    It’s true what you said about cruelty, but eventually, you have to eat. I had a friend who was vegan who ate only fruit. When it dies it falls from the tree, and you are just there to prevent it from going to waste.

    They have made lab grown beef burgers. Only a matter of time before they develop the process enough for mass production. Only cruelty there is that a person with a doctorates degree in bioengineering was made to make burgers for a living.

    It’s cooked on the same grills as the meat where all the beef fat is on so that could be the extra whopper flavour. But it also does look over cooked. 🤢
