- 👋 In todays review we get to take a look at the all new 2024 Lexus GX550! This is a highly anticipated luxury focused suv from Lexus that a lot of people have been waiting for! This 2024 Lexus GX550 is the Overtrail, so one of the two top trim levels that offers a lot of offroad technology. There are also a total of six different trim levels to choose from with the rest of the linup offering a third row option! The 2024 Lexus GX550 will have two variants as well including a GX550h which should be coming later this year! The 2024 Lexus GX550 is a mid/full size SUV that is luxury focused and built for a lot of capabilities!
The exterior for this Lexus GX550 has a boxy and bold look! It mimics the original versions with the modern twist and has great proportions all around! The 2024 Lexus GX550 Overtrail comes with cameras, fixed side steps, a rear glass that opens individually from the lift gate and roof racks! The interior for this 2024 Lexus GX550 has some nice materials with the leather seats and all the trim accents! It really gives you that luxury vibe and also provides you with a lot of standard safety technology!
Driving the all new 2024 Lexus GX550 was great! This is so comfortable and quiet, the suspension is great! You can feel some of the body roll, but it's not bad for the stock suspension. The power is good and the exhaust sounds good with a minor acceleration! Being my first time behind the wheel, I was very impressed with it's overall drive. You sit high up, great view all around. The digital camera for the rear view is an option and standard on higher trim levels, so that's nice to see! But very nice and I could see this being a great daily driver and one that is practical and very capable for being an SUV and providing you with a great platform! Lexus did a great job and the demand for this SUV has been crazy! Just at my local dealer alone, I've seen well over twenty people and the dealer has a wait list of more than 100! Also this GX550 has a locking differential in the center and a full time four wheel drive system. The interior is modern with the newest screens and tech, but is still simple to use like a Lexus should be. While this has synthetic leather it feel very nice and should be pretty durable. I love how boxy it feels and that roofline gives the GX a cool interior feeling! The dash is very flat and easy to see, but allows for a great view out the windshield. The hood even dips down in the center so you can see the trail ahead and the large bulges on the side help you place the GX550 off road. For sure the new 2024 Lexus GX is going to be a popular luxury SUV and gain traction like any Range Rover or Mercedes G wagon as an off road luxury SUV thats super desirable! I can see buying a new Land Cruiser, and then when I want more luxury, going for the GX550 as my family SUV! I put deposit on Overtrail + last week. I heard that the roof rack is verrrrrrrry noisy while driving, so I ordered just roof rails. Also, I did not include rock slide as the running boards are really needed on this sub due to height of the vehicle- and you step on those all the time to get in and out

@@tstsocialmedia4403 that’s nice! I don’t think the engines are having issues like the tundra because they are built in a different facility, but we’ll see!
Wow, the Overtrail looks gorgeous in white! Still waiting on Lexus to add the optional choice for a third row and I’m all in!
Third row is on the rest of the lineup! Don’t think they’ll add it to this or the plus model.

I wish I could get a feel for the inside size vs. the current 4runner. Id love it if it were just a little wider.

Heard about the V6 recalls though? I want one so bad, but I'm scared of the brand for the first time in my life. Just got my wife a TX 350, and we're nervous. Eyes constantly on the recall list. Three months in, there's been nothing serious so far, but we have had cosmetic issues, that just would not happen in the past. An actual missing part from manufacturing actually. At least, these are assembled ONLY in Japan.

Are the gx engines blowing up yet like the other 3.5 turbo engines? Would have been cool if they gave a 5.0 V8 option and it wasn’t all plastic.
I'm not too sure. I've only seen the issues on the Tundra. Not sure if the engine in the GX is built in a different factory then the Tundra since the GX is assembled in Japan

@@Shabnation Actually looks like the GX is also part of the engine recall. So maybe the engines are all built in the same factory. Not too sure

Yeah I think the GX is a much better value than the Land Cruiser. New 4Runner will be a good less expensive option and still has a third row

Bro the Tundra engine that were backed up are from the ones manufactured in Mexico or America (forgot which ones). Lexus are built in Japan only those are unaffected. And the reason for the Tundras from that plant is because of shaving or metal stuff falling in during assembly/manufacturing

The 2024 will never be as reliable as the 2023 model.

Does Apple CarPlay show a turn signal in steering wheel display like the bmws? It’s just a simple left or right arrow with mile counter to next turn. HUD is useless when I’m wearing sunglasses

The Landcruiser is significantly better looking and has a better engine. And it's not a Lexus. Which is the best part.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed Toyota has built 4 Cylinders for decades which have been designed for heavy vehicles. Reliability has been stellar.
The V6 they put in the GX is unknown and has had issues already.
Just personal preference re the name. I don't like the marque. Landcruiser is a better name. Toyota always holds its value better than Lexus.

However, when comparing Toyota Landcruiser or Toyota 4Runner to the Lexus counter-part, the difference is significant. Landcruiser and 4Runner hold their value significantly better.
