  • FINALLY WE HAVE AN ANSWER TO THE COMMON ISSUE OF WORN OUT CASES. WILL KEEP YOU FROM BUYING A REPLACEMENT CASE ON EVERY UNIT THAT COMES IN. I SEE THE SAME WEAR ON THE NEWER 8 SPEEDS AS WELL.

"Kudos" to you, sir. Your knowledge and attention to detail are, without a doubt, second to NONE! I would be willing to bet large sums of money another trans tech of your caliber doesn't exist ANYWHERE on the entire planet.
Mr Hiram, you are truly in a league of your own. I'm relatively sure no one could even come close! Again, your knowledge base is astounding. After watching your videos for years, I've come to the conclusion (a long time ago) that anyone fortunate enough to have a transmission built by you is getting the best troubleshooting, workmanship, skill/knowledge and "bang for their buck" than is available anywhere else. By far! Yes, a lot of people can rebuild transmissions. But, at this level, it's a VERY small club, indeed.

Richard at precision transmission is another example of being in the top of the class.

Hello Hiram from Australia again 🙃
A H-gauge and I have never seen one before, a simple but very effective tool.
I was yelling dial indicator when you couldn't think of the name of it but I don't think you heard me 😆
Thanks as always for showing and sharing you knowledge with us..😎

Yeah, I needed that coffee ☕️ on the beginning of the video. I corrected myself afterwards. Keeping it real.

I have a question about a 4l80e. When the holley command shift to 4th it is like it does shift and feels like neutral. Wondering what this could be.

Hello Sir I would like to ask you a question. Do you have a video on rebuilding an 4T45-E Transmission?

I don't think you need that H gauge myself. Buy the case saver kit. You can see were the wear is. Add shim to that side of the case to even it up to the wear point. Put the 2 haves together like you did and just check the end play. I know you can tell what clearance just by the feel of it when you have done this for so long. I can do this and check it with a dial indicator and be .002 off at most.

Yes, you're right. Just by feel with your fingers to the edge of the wear you can be spot on without measuring. But you know the UA-cam crowd wants to see some type of measurements. The H gauge is actually enough without using a dial indicator, it's fast easy. And accurate. I've had that thing for more than 20 years, not sure if you can even get those anymore.
Concerning your other comment just drain and fill every year before crud accumulates.

What kind of work bench is that? I am using an old tired out wooden one that needs to be replaced here soon and would like to get one similar to the one you have.

I have a 2020 pacifica touring l plus van with a 9 speed trannie and the trans filter you have to take the trannie apart to replace it. What the hell good is that. All you can do is change the tranny fluid when you take the pan off and only clean the pan and hope there is a magnet in the pan to help hold small metal particles. Or put a magnet on the trannie pan if its metal if it does not have one in the pan. What is your take on this Hiram?

The theory is that the filter area is large enough to go the service life of the transmission without needing replacement. If you should ever need a filter replacement it is because something has gone wrong inside the transmission that requires a removal and repair.
