Thanks for watching, learning, and posting. I appreciate all of your support! As an Amazon associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. It helps me replenish my supplies like paint and lure blanks so I can keep bringing fresh content to all of you weekly.
I'm not a fish-tackle kind of guy, but I always appreciate good instructional when it comes down to airbrushing. And you my dear friend, do a phenomenal job. Most people are always too focused on the fact that they can mess-up but you do an amazing job reinforcing the basics and showing proper handling and application of your paints and surfaces. I learned more from your video than from a 30+min video by some know-it-all UA-camr. Keep up the great work! :D
great teacher, great artist, thanks for all the awesome tips. Your absolutely one of the best i've seen.thanks lady.
Thanks 😊 Bobber!
Everyone I watch is so careful between colors and everything and this women just pumps paint into that thing. Crazy. Stupid talented.
By the way your spray jobs are stunning, I have been in the custom spraying game for years now in the UK and I am still in awe of your work x
Thank you Dave. Much appreciated 🙂😘
That compressor would drive me nuts. 😂
You need a Silentaire. 😉
Put the compressor in another room and run an air hose to your workbench. It would be a lot quieter.
Just a suggestion from someone who used to airbrush T-shirts and had a noisy Craftsman 1-1/2 hp compressor. Made me jump when it came on sometimes. 😂
I know this is old. But what this "effect" is called in the art, pour art or art resin world is
" Celling" the paints make little cells like a photo negative. It's a chemical reaction. So whatever is in the opaque and the metallic paint causes this reaction..great look on a lure for sure...
Fantastic work!
Your technique is beautiful. I tried it and used transparent brite red, transparent deep red both creatix followed by wet on wet wicked detail black magenta and could not get it to give the acid look. Is it the transparent on the first two colors that killed the effect? What should I be using? Still looked good but no effect.
I have learned so much from you! I want to say thank you for explaining some of the tricks!
You're the best!
Hey Jen. Thanks for all of the videos. I'm learning so much from you. At a year later, can you share any other color combinations that work for the acid effect?
Moss Detail green, Deep blue
Might just do that on the back of fire tiger pattern!
I agree with you. I don't like to reduce my paints either.
Great video! I did that but though I made a mistake. I’m new to air brushing. I learn from your videos, keep up the great work👍
That's awesome when I was a kid I found this out on accident LOL like she said it was a happy mistake, I painted my bicycle frame a dark forest green and sprayed clear coat on it before the paint was all the way dry whoops! It looked so badass though! Just like that crank, thanks i subscribed, and I'm going to try this is my crankbaits! PS thanks again for reminding me!😁
No problem. Thanks for watching 🙂
That Acid wash is really cool
I love your channel you have great content. And you put every link needed thank you soooooooo much.
Have yet to try this one .
Let me know how it turns out if you do 🙂
@@Jekyll424 the bait turned out really good, but no acid wash.
Like I mentioned in the video it’s a 50/50 shot of the effect really coming out like I want it to
@@Jekyll424 yeah really appreciate the help . I like your videos, it to keep up with them.
I tried the acid was but I could not get it, but I used the Wicked detail black, most likely I need to get the Wicked black magenta
Thanks Gino
The craw is looking cool 😎
Cool video. I need to find more free time to play with my paints.
Good job
Wow I love it I will be trying this very soon
Fun effects!
A lovely pattern, it would have been fun to try it, did you create the acid effect with wicked transparent black 0002 on top? Or is it Wicked Jet Black W031-02??
Nice effect. Great video.
Awesome video and amazing work!!👍👌 thank you for the way you explain things, it’s very clear and easy to understand. This is the first time I ever watch one of your videos and you just gained another subscriber!
Thanks for the kind words, and for watching! Cheers
Hi Jen, Great videos you put out there. I learn so much watching your videos. I love them. You are quite the pro at this. Wonder if you would ever got to a Fred Hall Show here in California. Anyways, I do have a question. What assortment of eyes do you recommend buying if you are just getting started. There are so many types of colors and sizes to choose from that it can be overwhelming to decide what you need to start out. Jettson Lure Eyes and lurepartsonline seem to be the go to sites. Any suggestions on how many, what type, colors, styles. Thank you for what you do. Keep up the great work.
Awesome!!
Very nice effect, what about air drying under a light bulb or heat lamp to cut down on drying time. I'm assuming the effect is caused by spraying resin paint over water based paint.
Great video. Very helpful and educational. What do you use to transfer the foil on the sides? Thanks
Most times due to volume of business, I purchase pre-foiled. If I do them myself, I use Loc-Tite adhesive spray and give it 6 hours of drying time before painting and clearcoat
Hi love all your video what size tips you are useing in your air brushes love the acid effect also ty
.35 mostly on the Iwata HPCS
Happy new year. Best vid to date!
Thanks for watching 🙂
Wow now that's amazing
I love the acid wash effect. I got to try that.
I’m trying to figure out what color to paint a wooden saltwater squid plug that i made. I’m wondering if I can get this affect with a pink base and purple on top instead of red base with black on top. Do you think it would work? I don’t want to ruin this bait I have a lot of hours in it.
I'm a tattoo artist...gonna try airbrush some personal baits do u use that uvls clear coat from createx
Great work! Happy 2019. That is a cool effect!
AWESOME as usual !!!!
Thanks!
I was just wondering what you use to shake up your paint with or do you do shake it by hand
By hand
I have been trying to get this same acid look on a couple baits I’m playing around with. I have followed your video step by step and cannot get the acid look no matter what I do. Any pointers u could give me would b great and much appreciated. Absolutely love the stuff u do. Thank u
Would this also work with the Wicked Detail Sepia or just with the Detail Black Magenta?
As you said "they both have different activators and such" like trying to paint over a surface that has been contaminated with silicon...same affects...
Except that it’s near impossible to clearcoat over silicone, but YES! Very similar. I do use silicone for acrylic fluid paintings, but not on Lures. There is a reaction that occurs between the Wicked Detail line and Createx Auto Airs. It’s really cool, unless you don’t want it to look that way. Thanks for watching.🙂
@@Jekyll424 I knew you'd know what I mean.
No worries
Did this myself by accident too, real cool effect.
Sweet!
That wrap leaves an awesome pattern on the bait, which wrap is that? Great video!
That was cool
Masterpiece
🔥🔥🔥
I see you listed links to what you use but while trying to figure out what air brush model your using and clicking on the amazon links. I find it just sends me to a page with 50 different air brushes. Same with most of the other links. Can you fill me in will book mark this video hoping to see a reply. I've learned so must from watching your videos your very talented. Keep up the good work and thanks so much for sharing.
HPCS Iwata Eclipse on the airbrush. I use general links so that people can make their own choices, but I am always happy to give specific recommendations if you need them. Thanks for watching. Here’s the direct link, but for a bit less, the Iwata HP-BS is the same brush with a bit smaller of a paint chamber
amzn.to/2Tj8LHl
Thanks so much you GO GIRL!
that is amazing
Thanks 🙂
would like you to try on a pumpkin seed color with the light blue dots and what ever color would be a base dark maroon maybe?
Ok. That's a great idea
You should say the wicked black is thined with reducer 4011 and not just do commercials on paint !!
Perfect idea!!
You are a genius .
Nah... just a goof ball lol
Have you found the "acid effect" with other colors? The red is killer, but other color combos would be cool as well
Could work for a chain pickerel effect or pumpkinseed sunny.....
Does it work with other colors as well?
Tends to happen the most w Wicked Detail Colors
What is the holder that you using?
Llink in description for the helping hands. It has a very sturdy base to it
Curious, apply to all surfaces the red then apply the mesh without a white prime and use the second color on over the mesh what happens? HMM ???
Hmmm indeed
As usual great tips no i need to find the wicked colour
What airbrush do you use?
Iwata Eclipse HPCS, HPBS
Can I use lacquer thinner to reduce paints, or is reducer a special chemical?
My first thought here is to email or call Createx or an artist store that features airbrush items. I'm not certain on what exactly makes up the reducer compound
Jekyll424 thanks. I’m new and just trying to get my head around some of the basics. I have watched a lot of you videos. Thanks for great videos.
what does "wicked" mean in the world of paints? Is it a thicker non transparent paint.
No, just a step up from Createx. Same company makes them, sprays evenly, more choices in detail colors, and has a full line of transparent paint too
Newly subscribed! What great video's you have ma'am! One question. the link you have for the blanks is showing no results. Is there somewhere else i can buy crank baits? I would also like to add, i buy a lot of materials from Barlow.com but they are out of the lipless cranks I'm looking for... Amazingly beautiful baits you are putting out there btw! Please keep them coming! You are a great teacher!
It's been a few weeks since I've had a chance to go through my links! I'll do my best to update within the next week 🙂 I buy replica blanks from Dinger, Shelts Tackle, Cedar Run, Backwater Outfitters, Alternative Lures Tackle, and a few others. More than not, i repaint brand names these days. I have torn feelings on companies working hard and testing their products only to have others replicate their merch. But, we all have to put food on the table and pay the bills... so it's hard to balance it all without keeping a low overhead cost line
@@Jekyll424 Thank you for the info! I understand what you mean about people replicating/knockoffs. I don't sell my works of art lol keep up the fantastic work! i have learned so much from you already and cant stop watching! I have some cheep blanks coming from WLures so i can start practicing.
Very cool. Have you tried Wicked Moss green?
Yes. Moss Green also works, but there are a few that don't work. Still in the trial and error stages...
What kind of material did you use for that mesh pattern in the bonus tip?
When you do the final clear coat, how does clear coating the bill affect the swimming action of the lure?
Think about it like this: a lure is specifically weighted all the way around to swim a certain way. But if you DON'T clearcoat the bill with the rest of the lure, it can throw the balance off. An even coat of epoxy all the way around that covers the entire lure up to and including the bill, helps keep it consistent with how it was balanced when it was originally molded.
I noticed that you don't mix will it work if mixed before you put in airbrush
i love this look! but sadly i can't get it to happen for me. ive tried the exact combination of paints. is there any trick im missing?
Keep trying and play around with gradually increasing The psi on your compressor
@@Jekyll424 thanks! I will try a higher psi I don't think I went over 25
Idk how to spray without thinning the paints.... I tried that today and I had to keep pulling the trigger back and forth to make barley any paint come out
What airbrush are you using?
@@Jekyll424 iwata neo
@@mayolormairez2527 I know the neo comes with a .035 tip you might bump it up to a point 0 5 0 tip you can get them for twenty bucks from hobby lobby
What pressure are you spraying at? Higher pressure atomizes paint better.
Hi, the roll of mesh.. You use when marboling.. Wher Can i buy that? What is the name of IT?
Best regardes John-Arne
amzn.to/3bSpEka
Hi Maam, what brand of Airbrush you're using?
Iwata eclipse HPCS, revolution
What size tip nozzle are you using
.35
@@Jekyll424 thank u
Nice video you are good at this is just started airbrushing 3 days ago and can learn a lot from you just sub to your Channel 🤙🤙👊👊
Have you got this effect in shad colors
Still playing around with colors
Are you purposely not cleaning in between colors?
Correct
I can’t get it to work
Sometimes I can’t either
Can u add a link for mesh.
It’s there on my newer ones near the top
I have the same identical paints and tired this at least 40 times I have had 0 successful attempts. I Even tried with the trans bright red then deep red and wicked detail black magenta over and over and over it flat will not do this. Not even kinda . What’s The secret ? Because something ain’t right. Have you done this recently? My paints are brand new literally just opened them. I can understand a couple times not working but 40?
Haven't done an acid in a while. When I get the new shop set up I'll go start to finish continuous shot and open new paints on camera. I do have better luck in the summer months but like I said in the video I can't always get the results either. Happy thanksgiving!
@@Jekyll424 thanks let’s me know if ya don’t mind. I’m thinking they may have changed something in the paint. I’ve tried 7-8 different colors and none have worked.
This isn't so much a mix of the paints, it's happening because you're laying way too much paint down and then coming in with more super heavy coats, the paint isn't drying underneath and they're reacting.
Hello, very good morning, here in Costa Rica is dawning and it is 5 in the morning, first of all tell you that it is the first time I find a video of you and I have already liked that effect you have given to that lure, I have a time to manufacture my own lures, here in my country we do not have the facility to get materials as in other countries, at least I still don't have an airman Hello, very good morning, here in Costa Rica is dawning and it is 5 in the morning, first of all tell you that it is the first time I find a video of you and I have already liked that effect you have given to that lure, I have a time to manufacture my own lures, here in my country we do not have the facility to get materials as in other countries, at least I still don't have an airman or as Compressor, I use spray paint and well, I would like to know if it is possible to achieve that effect using the type of paints I have, greetings I hope to watch more of your videos.
You do some awesome work !!! @lurelooks
I do fingernails and this would be cool
You must reduce your detaile paint. Every bottle I have ever baught has been like slime. There is no way it will shoot without reducing it. Like 20 bottles
Hmmmm I don’t seem to have that problem. Where are you purchasing the product?
@@Jekyll424 hobby lobby and onlinr
Adam Johnson try purchasing from Blick Art Supplies or Spraygunner online. They definitely keep newer stock on hand
@@Jekyll424 ok
I tried it and it did not work
It works for me about 50% of the time... it does seem to work more in summer months when there is humidity in the air
I'm going to try it in summer, I live in a part of Mexico that is very humid in summer, it should work, thank you very much for your response, and congratulations for your work!
Anyone else missing left channel audio?
Just checked it. Sounds good on my phone, laptop, desktop and both smart TVs.
Red actually isn’t the best color for deep divers. Red is a lot less visible then most colors at 25-30 ft. I was just making you informed. It’s proven and you can look it up. There are charts that show at what depths colors become less visible.
I agree it becomes more of a dark profile color, but when a color / pattern is requested by a client for a certain lure, I will paint it to specification every time 🙂
Jekyll424 understand. Love your videos!
Awesome!!!!
