In Korea, a lot of games and things like this require phone registration. The top one is phone confirmation, and the bottom one is iPin confirmation (using your ID basically). If you don't have a Korean ID/phone number, you will never be able to make an account. Some services also started doing this to prevent other countries using their services for whatever reason. It's kind of stupid.
Could be due to not wanting to deal with other countries' data privacy laws? Or they just don't like foreigners, that's also a possibility. Maybe a mix of both.
I'm still watching this, 20 mins in, I just want to say I love your sense of humor. You always kick ass and are like a Go Rock Star for me :) It really gets me back into playing Go again. Thanks for amazing content! :)
Interesting. I recall that a fellow who went by Panda on some servers was a strong Korean amateur immigrant to Canada where he ran a laundromat or something ... I think he was the author of "First Kyu", but I'm fuzzy on the details. I wonder if he had anything to do with Pandanet .... probably not, I suppose. I've never played on Tygem. I may have played on Pandanet a few times, a decade or two ago. great game, btw. Being around 3kyu OGS right now, I find such games as this one really helpful.
Lol murderbot activated:D You played 2 knights in this game which I thought was rather unusual for your basic style. Any reasons that they were safe to play? Because of the strong bases you already had?
@dwyrin 14:13 there i have a question that irritates me (15k) You tell us to use sente which i understand somehow as you get the initiative but doesn't that conflict with don't make your opponent stronger? I mean yeah the shoulderhit is sente but the response leads also to a stronger corner of him just as an example or is this just the price we pay. Even if so i have a followup question. When is that good and when it just is a bad idea?
I am lowly 2k but the in Go the way it works is that if noone makes a mistake you have an even game on your hands. Which means that for anything you want to grab you have to be ready to give or let opponent have something else. You wanna try avoid making moves like that against potentially weak groups you could attack or at least force opponent to reinforce in gote later. But that corner was already ironclad. The territorry was always going to be black's. So basically batts was just making black defend corner that was their anyway. At the end of the day it is a question of evaluation. The idea here is that getting that shape there is more or at least as valuable to W as the few extra points are to B
A shoulder hit would be something called a forcing move, that being a move your opponent needs to respond to by defending themself in some way. That is conceptually a different thing from utilizing initiative, which is less about forcing a defense and more about taking big, important points for yourself before your opponent can, generally in ways that'll let you develop new areas or keep your opponent from developing those areas (ideally both). Either is strictly speaking sente since you get the first move somewhere, but the forcing moves you mostly want to play either when they help you not die, or when there's a ko.
from what I know, best you don't make your opponent strong in a fight or if your opponent is on the run and you can attack him severely (either for profit or potentially a kill). if it's a group that can easily live and you can easily live as well then it doesn't really matter how strong either is bc both are gonna be alive anyways.
I can't play fox due to internet problems, so I've been playing pandanet lately. Playing on my old account, trying to rank up it to my current level, it's not so easy, sometimes I can lose to 5 kyu, I have 2-3 dan on fox. Players there have some different style

@@Colopty to be fair, there's no obligation for any service to be accessible to every other country.
As far as I understand it’s to limit how much time children play online, they have strict limits.
China is like this as well. If you don't have a Chinese phone number you can register for certain things.

Tygem is a special server for special people.
Why?
@@albertoandrade9807 explained in beginning of video.
The things gone over in the video are pretty par for the course for a lot of Korean online services.
You mean crazy people?
Those words will live on 😂
I see Dwyrin was feeling especially petty today 🤣
You are funny and good. Nice combo.
