In basics you aren’t supposed to kill. You attack for profit. If your opponent has to live in a small area in gote then you gain sente to make territory elsewhere on the board.
@@cameronyu2413 it's also basic to recognize that any other move you could make on that board would not have been worth 50 points, which is a number you can get by counting the white stones + the territory they'd have as a live group
I am not sure what the point of making a no killing rule is if people want to kill. He didn’t kill the group in the game. Sure life and death is part of the game but it’s not part of basics. Isn’t the idea behind basics is to not win because you could read a life and death problem no matter what rank you are?
@@cameronyu2413 Im not sure what rules Dwyrin made for himself regarding killing or not killing groups for [back to basic] series, but speaking outside the rules, I dont see how killing is not basic. Sure, you attack for profit, but if you attack with basic moves (for profit) and your opponent fails to defend properly you should kill him. Not taking advantage of your opponents weakness is not basic. But if you speak only about these series, than yeah...
3:51 - that's not really a corner approach at K3. It's equidistant between 2 corners. You would have to place that stone at least 2-3 lines over toward the White stone before it resembles an approach. The move at K3 is just taking a side move?
For me there's a HUGE difference between chasing after a kill on a weak group in the opening, and gambling the victory on making that kill (not basic), to stuff like the top left where it's late midgame and it's just a pretty basic life and death problem on a surrounded group that the opponent missed because they are playing too fast. Not saying you should have killed it, as it's enough for us to see that it could be killed.
dwyrin, sorry for asking this here, but what the reason for turn on the phone number verification on Twitch for chat? I am just didn't want to share the phone number with corporations, where the personal data can be stolen and nothing except 'Please, excuse us" will follows. Thanks for the video, by the way.
I know dwyrin always says people play too fast but honestly some of us don't actually care. I like to blitz and even while i'm blitzing i'm watching a movie or something. It's all fun at the end of the day and we aren't really that interested in winning all the time.
Nice to see some PandaNet content. As a 1k on the server I found it really useful to get a sense of the kinds of mistakes I am likely to make.
Enjoy your content every week.
thanks! glad you like it
22:22 Is my favorite quote in all of go history
19:26 the singing was my favorite part
i feel like the dead group at 19ish minutes would have been a legit kill for basics, like that's one of the first dead corner shapes you learn

@Cameron Yu Some killing is basic. The no killing rule he made long ago should have been just for 20k-7k at best. Death is a part of the fundamentals

0:53 there is a sound from one of your apps kick in just mention to be noticed for you dwyrin
that was a challenge received from pandanet
How should he have came in instead of K16? I think many sdks and low level Dans could benefit from some analysis on this. Thanks for the vid.

I find Pandanet to be really tough
