It is very true. People on the verge of changing often have contradicting ideas until they can come to a conclusion about what they believe. Hate him or love him, Ethan speaks the truth when he says this
I used to work at a gas station where I received counterfeit money ALL THE TIME. I wasn't required to call the police. I just proved to the person that it's fake and told them that they can't use this. They would leave, and thats it.
“sometimes a hypocrite is a man who is in the process of changing” if we aren’t open minded towards people who are just ignorant and not bigoted, a lot of good that could be done is lost.
Because forcing white people to apologize for their skin color is of course not racism. I swear, more than 50% here are actual racists who genuinely hate white people based only on their skin color. This is a racist channel. No wonder it got so many dislikes.
@@muslimsrememberapostacyday556 nah, I remember when h3 made a video about MTV's racist video "dear white people" (or something like that) and criticized it for what it was.
@100 ud af 100 danske politibetjente er pædofile did i tell you to apologise for your skin colour? I haven’t seen any comments detailing that you have to apologise for being white. Do all discussions of race in any vaguely progressive way target white people?
@Noè Bozzini okay yeah, that video was really cringy, you can talk about how white people should probably learn more about racism without blaming them for it and without accusing them of it.
I'm changing into a person who's becoming proud of his white coloured skin. I'm gonna have as many children as possible with a pale woman. And we'll all serve God, Jesus Christ and live our lives for Him with lots of guns and love etc etc.
Just found your page again it was me and my cousin Jacob’s best channel to watch he passed away a couple years ago sucks having to watch this myself it’s not the same…
I live in Norway, and the police training takes 3-4 years to complete. The process include things like moral tests and how well a person handle stress. I think the way to end police brutality in the Us is to make it harder to become a police officer. Thats how it is here in Norway and almost the entire population like and respects the police officers.
Germany (my homeland) also has much stricter requirements for police officers & people there are not afraid of them. Even where I am from, there are a lot of immigrants from Turkey and other countries and they aren't concerned about being racially profiled.
well that would kind of be an approach that would address all brutality, not just specifically black ones. Right now we keep pretending that this is a racial thing and there is a racial biad
Implying anyone respects Norwegian police. Ever seen that funny video of the 4-5 Swedish police (3 of them blonde women) trying to handle 1 angry immigrant? He literally beat them all up and ran circles around them. The police were just standing there doing nothing. Useless. Edit : Its true Sweden is more feminized then Norway, but the 2 countries are very much the same, and Norway is going down the same path as Sweden. Ive spent enough time in both countries to know. Its like comparing 2 neighbor states in the USA. Most americans can barely pick these countries out on a map. There's also a big difference from living out in the country and in the big city. Most people that live in the city will tell you that its not a white country.
I've worked retail for 6 years and have been handed counterfeit bills. We've never called the police. We hand the money back and cancel the transaction if they have no alternative payment. That's fucking crazy.
What happened to George Floyd was not ok In any sense! From reports and the phone call from the clerk, supposedly he was acting erratic. Both autopsy’s (even the one from his family) found meth in his system. I believe that’s the main reason for the call.
more people need reminding of this. like, I remember hearing that Floyd might've hit his wife, and yeah of course he should get in trouble if he did that, but good lord man he wouldn't deserve death.
@@Friendlybot9000 I mean if he robbed the store the whole encounter would’ve been different and he could’ve actually had a weapon in that case what happened to Floyd was just a disgrace
I was drawing in my notebook while sitting in my car next to a park once to blow off some steam and I turned around to red and blue lights and pistols being pointed at me while I’m being yelled at. I am a half black, medium brown skinned man. Someone called the police and said they saw someone with a gun lol. That reaction to an armed person makes sense I guess but what bothered me was how rude and unapologetic they were towards me. They pointed pistols at me, searched my car and I, found nothing illegal, then the main asshole I talked to had the audacity to tell me I shouldn’t have been at that PUBLIC PARK that doesn’t close that I live 5 minutes away from. You point fucking multiple guns at someone while yelling at them, the least you can do is say “Ay man sorry about the false alarm. I apologize for having me and 2 other men point pistols at you while screaming out of nowhere. We mistook you for someone else.” I never have, and never will see police as friendly neighborhood peacekeepers. And yes Ethan you are right. Every black kid gets the “talk” about police when they’re growing up.
"the reaction to an armed person makes sense" is all you had to say. Everything else in your story holds no weight after that. Cops were responding to someone armed so that is exactly why they reacted that way. Your race has nothing to do with it so not sure why that was brought up other than to score sympathy points currently. Stop complaining about police doing there jobs then being a bit rude after. Most cops are good cops, doesn't meant they will all be nice. Just like normal people.
@@KnarBurger Just because you're incapable of empathy doesn't mean this man is looking for sympathy. If you had guns pointed at you for no reason you'd piss yourself so suck one.
I came to H3 on the newer-ish episodes (I enjoy you all so have started back watching). This helped me understand you more and your position on these issues. Thank you ✊🏽
Well all these quote comments making fun of ethan saying leafy couldn't survive in today's climate have aged horribly he was banned on youtube and has left the internet lmfao
@ADRIAN C TUROW i really cant believe that at times like that you still havent woke up and still defend your stereotypes that clearly hurt a lot of people. I cant believe that in 2020 you are still racist
@ADRIAN C TUROW no one deserves to die unless they are THREATENING SOMEONE! Did you not watch this video? I don't care if he robbed someone in the past. You think the cop knew about his history? No. And not to mention that cop killed ANOTHER black man in the past. He did it before. George Floyd might not have been a wonderful man (which who are you to judge that) but he was still a MAN. A living being. And second degree murder is 100% what it was. Intention to kill without premeditation. This is a complete disregard to human life.
@UCCTEz-8fn7PNrVB3x-r6fkw yea, there are more white people.. so i mean that makes sense but remember... those are just deaths ALSO the percentage of black people vs white people (NOT just the amount) is more meaningful.... considering one is a minority. Also, again... those are jsut the deaths, look into the amount of unfairly prosecuted trials. You're missing the entire point of this entire thing by essentially arguing 'well they kill more of us' it's about the systematic oppression that DOES exist. And i mean, we just got civle right within the century so I'm not surprised.... but it happens
Thank you, Ethan. You didn’t have to say anything and you probably would have been better off by just allocating this to a podcast segment, but you took a stance loudly when you knew that your audience was going to have mixed reactions. Mega balls, man. You don’t always hit the mark but you’re obviously a person that self reflects and wants to do the right thing. Great moves, Ethan. Keep it up. Proud of you.
I've been with you through thick and thin as an african-american fan Ethan. I have so much love for this video, you, and your family. Thank you. Papa Bless.
I just wrote him the same thing.I know exactly when he is talking about and it did hurt me.And what happens?we just have to file it as another time a white creator we love disregards us. It happens so often most of the time we dont even mention it. It means so much to me,having continued to support him either way, that he,without a scandal, without fans holding his feet to the fire (They wouldnt anyway because they thing racism is edgy) or without him dealing with a cancel scandal, can see how qrong he was and to say sorry. This is why I always stuck by them. Because even when he had things he needed to work on him,he has a kind heart.
I don't know if Ethan knows this, but it's actually a quote from my favorite author, Brandon Sanderson in the series Stormlight Archives. Just google that exact line. It's very profound and one of my favorite quotes.
When I was 16 I was falsely accused of uttering threats. I was taken out of my home and kept by the RCMP (I am Canadian) overnight. I had denied everything, they had interviewed one person and the rest of the people who they brought in had made contradicting statements. I was expelled, kept at home for 7 months and held on curfew. When I was finally cleared after a trial, I was told I could not sue. I was 16. I had lost my education, my life, and a lot of friends.
Arguments about George Floyd's character, whether true or false, are completely irrelevant. The cop didn't know about Floyd's past when he took him to the ground.
True, but this is true for the individual cops involved not being a representation of the entire police force I'm not saying that racism isn't an obvious issue in police forces all over the world, but it's not a systemic problem with the structure of the police itself and is rather a problem of individuals who join the police, although i will agree that the fact these people make it into the force is a problem unto itself
It's a systemic problem. People talks about bad apples to defend and to try to make these situations look as isolated cases, while the reality is the system is completely rotten. The police as a force unit has covered these reports in the past, only accepting the word of the police officer/s involved as the final evidence and they don't even care about investigating what happened, without these public recordings this most likely was going to end up as he resisted and threatened the officers, so, they had to do it, same old story.
Ethan I love this, as a black man you've said a lot of my thoughts exactly, and I'm glad you're taking a stand on this issue. Love you man, great work keep it up!
@The SoulFrog although 9 is a relatively small number compared to the population of America those were still unarmed men that shouldn't of been killed in the first place I mean look at how George floyd died...he was choked to death by a cop kneeling on his neck! What fucken training did that cop get to think that was a the best way to hold someone down that wasn't even resisting, don't let the riots take away from what happened to George floyd he deserves justice and the excuse that its only 1 man that got this year or only 9 is still wrong
My dad (a black male), was being pulled over on the highway, he took the next exit when the cop asked why he said he did it for the officers safety. Since it was dark and there had been a lot of officers hit on that road at night, my dad got a warning and a thank you.
I overheard a conversation at work today “well he was no angel; he wasn’t such an innocent flower”...I’m a recovering addict who has been clean for 2 years. I’ve done some fucked up shit in my life but I’ve tried every day these last 2 years to be a better person. It’s a scary thought though to think that if I were to get killed by a cop tomorrow that people might dig up my past to try to justify my death so it can fit their narrative. “He was a junkie piece of shit - he wasn’t so innocent”. Then again, I’m white so I probably have nothing to fear. Good guy, bad guy, or somewhere in the middle, George Floyd was a human being who was murdered by the same people sworn to protect him. There’s really no justifying that.
It was definitely wrong for the cop to do what he did, and he shouldn't have been killed obviously. But I'm pretty sure Floyd had both assault and armed robbery in his criminal record, so.. not necessarily an angel. Drugs are one thing, but hurting people is wrong.
It's not the police's job to protect you. It's their job to uphold the law. Now you know why us crazy right-wingers are pro-gun rights. The cops were never your friends and they never will be.
QuiveringPotato the fact that he has a criminal history is irrelevant. The cops shouldn’t have been so aggressive with him, and how would they know prior that he did have a criminal history?
Totally agree with you! Only my bad, was when I was a teenager and called a cop a pig at the beach, for no reason. He was calmed and reply "I'm a pig until you need my help" I kept walking but felt terrible. I became a cop in NY. I'm retired now but my peers and I feel terrible about Floyd and recent Blake, shooting. Training is important but not everyone is fit to be a cop. Fundamentally all police dept. Should be trained the same and candidate vetted. Psychology tested like our department does. Twice in my career, I cam close to firing my weapon, both times it was a black male. I worked in the city. Both times, I would have been justified. Training kicks in, I was alone, no back up either. But I kept my eyes on subject's hands, which I couldn't see until the last moment. One was burglary in process of a business other I caught a robber. So there was is no misunderstanding. With weapon draw, I talked the person down, to drop knife. Second the big guy was deaf, (which i didn't know until the end) however its a universal language, when a cop is pointing a gun at you, U stop and put your hands up. He didn't but I was able to finally see his hands, so I didn't shoot. Yeah, I was pissed because I could have shot him. What I'm trying to say, when an officer life is in danger you defend yourself, i felt i had space and time. I used it! Just can't understand shooting someone in the back, for reasons that were shown. Not a threat! Well, enough said for now.

You moved me man. My father was related in gangs during my early childhood (until he passed away when I was eight years old) and one of my earliest memories are of the police barging into my house to detain my father. I would say I was scared to death, and all I remember are the shadows of men being aggressive. In the end, he was still my father, and life continued as normal. My situation would have ended with either my father being imprisoned or killed on the spot, both of which wouldn't have left my mother or any part of my family with a fighting chance. I am shocked that it took me this long to start to truly see the bigger picture that is Black Lives Matter. Even with my father passing away early on, I had a great childhood, had a gaming console, to put it simply, I was well taken care of. I have only my family to thank for that. However, I now firmly believe that, had I not been born a white american, I would not have had things go so smoothly for me, or my siblings. Ethan I love your content and I love you as a person. All I can say is great moves and you keep youtube enjoyable in 2020. I'm sad, both that it took me so long to see the real message behind Black Lives Matter ( or at least a message that opened my eyes ) is "When they say 'Black Lives Matter'...they mean 'All Lives Matter'..."-Ethan 2020; also sad that it took me so long to start watching your content again!! Anyways, I just felt compelled to share. Thank you Ethan and please Keep up the great moves.
And remember, everyone: This is not a political issue. This is a human rights issue. EDIT: Goddamn y’all are so particular. Okay, this isn’t JUST a political issue, the way some people are choosing to view it. At its foundation, the acknowledgement of Black lives and fixing society so they can live in it without fear is - first and foremost - a humans’ rights issue. Arguing against what BLM stands for is denying the struggles and hardships of Black people in America.
I'm sad to admit, for a brief time I was one of those people who said, "All lives matter" as a knee-jerk reaction to the BLM movement. However, I gave it a bit of thought and realized my assumptions had colored my response. I assumed black lives matter meant ONLY black lives matter. After an ounce of consideration, I realized the intent is black lives matter TOO. Don't let assumption cloud your judgement like I did, folks.
I used to think the same way. I still don't agree with everything the movement does but I definitely realise now how important their message is and what a long time coming this whole event has been.

Yo thank you for making this vid. I’ve been realizing the exact same thing I live in a shady city and was an addict for a long time and ran into cops all the time. I remember specifically one time I was sitting in a lot b to do some shit and the cops came and shined a light on me and my friend and just basically scared us and told me ‘throw the drugs on the ground and get out of here and I better not see you again’ !! I thought the same as you ‘cops are cool’ ‘dodged a bullet’ but now I’m thinking if I wasn’t white I would be in jail to this day
41 year old Black man here, this is my most memorable interaction with the police: 1992, 13 years old, at the park between my building and Willoughby, Marcy Houses, Brooklyn NY. I was playing 3 way catch with 2 other kids from my building. Two officers came up to us and told us to go inside since there was active tension between two local gangs. The next day my aunt told us that three men were shot near the park after we went inside. Two were gang members shot by rival gang members. The third was a maintenance man that got hit with a stray bullet. After that, I associated cops with safety. I still do.
The vast majority of cops are good people. Some of them are assholes, but taking a couple incidents and judging the whole police force by them is ridiculous. People with stories like yours are so needed in these times. Thank you.
@@horiapintilie4263 🙌 I agree with this. It must be a hard job as at times someone's life is at stake and this needs to be acknowledged far more often.
That’s the thing though, we look at people as groups and assume those groups are good or bad due to experience, when in reality, you have to look at people as individuals with their own morals and ideas. Some cops being responsible and trying to protect their community, while others are morons on a power trip.
I support the statement your trying to make, but Gandhi isn't exactly the best example for racism. In fact in his personal journal he is very discriminatory and racist towards certain groups of people. Again, support the idea, but could you use a better example please.

Yes more people need to teach their children how to interact with police in a calm diplomatic way instead of choosing to resist arrest. The problem is they teach them the opposite aka “F the po-lice.”
All cops should be required to wear body cams that film at all times. If a cop has a problem with that then clearly they're doing something they shouldnt.
starsstripesjacket I agree, but the same people saying that are also the ones who want to cut funding to the police. If they can’t afford to do that now, they certainly won’t be able to afford it if you cut their funding.
They need mass police reforms honestly.. They are allowing too many beta males to be officers who have no bravery like the real army. They are thought to escalate the situation instead of calmly de-escalting it. I have seen a video of 9 police 'men' taking down only one guy. Why do 9 people need to take down one guy? So ridiculous.
This is so true. In many cases i see US police know less about their rights than citizens. Here in germany the training is also 2.5 to 3 years and the statistics of police violence speak for themselves
Looking at all of the Leafy stans in the comments of this video after him being banned off UA-cam is seriously delicious. He really *couldn’t* survive in this current climate. Great moves.

Or Broken Arrow with a 1 hour and half video analyzing Ethan's facial expressions to find all the concrete evidences that Ethan orchestrated George Floyd's murder.
I haven't watched a single thing Keemstar has uploaded, and I've been on UA-cam since 2006. His content would never show up in my feed, because he's a worthless cretin that posts the youtube equivalent of teen girl gossip, as read by a 35 year old racist man.
I remember back in 2016 during UA-cam’s ~edgy/offensive~ phase, Ethan got shit on for basically just explaining what Black Lives Matter means in response to a tone-deaf “all lives matter” prank video. There was so much backlash he had to make a whole response video. I’m just glad that in regards to this issue he’s really been consistent, and this video shows that
The whole message behind Black Lives Matter is that black lives matter too, not black lives only matter. Only problem is that there is not a large amount of people who think black lives don't matter. Basically anyone with any kind of influence is outright supporting BLM, and the only people we see actually being racist and acting like black lives don't matter are a few random trolls and kids trying to be edgy. The main statistic used to "prove" how racist the police are is how black people only make up 13% of the population, but nearly 25% of deaths by police. But usually BLM prefers to focus on specific cases and stories, and if you bring up any statistics showing more of the picture, you're deemed a racist. So instead of bringing up another race statistic, I'll show a different perspective. Men in the US make up 49% of the population, but 95% of deaths by police. This disparity is enormous, especially compared to the difference with the black population. Is there a problem with systemic sexism against men? Is the police force full of sexists who hate men? Are men being "hunted down in the streets"? Based on these statistics, plus most of the individual stories, isn't sexism a much bigger problem in the police than racism? If the answer to any of these is no, why? If you think that a 46% difference between population and deaths can be explained without sexism, or by more than just sexism, then why can't a 12% difference by explained by more than racism?
Supreme_Court Not really into the statistics, not even American, and I’m really trying to stay neutral, but with that said nothing irks me more than racism. I would like to believe it because there is a great difference between men and women, just biologically and culturally, but there shouldn’t be that much difference between to men, of different color. Yet, we are treated very differently, by each other, and often worse.
@@Supreme_Court. But there are distinct differences biologically and culturally between men and women that can explain that. Men do have more testosterone than women, which can elevate situations and confrontations with police officers, making it more likely for officers to shoot men than women. It's pretty clear that men tend to be more aggressive than women. Is it right for the police to be shooting and killing as many people as they are in general? Probably not, no. However, when it comes to the argument of why men are shot by police more than women, the argument of testosterone and aggression makes sense. It does not make sense, however, when applying that logic to black deaths by police. Black people are not statistically proven to produce more testosterone than white people. There is no explanation for it besides racism.
@@LargeMikel There are biological and cultural differences between blacks and whites in America. you mentioned men have more testosterone than women, black men also have more testosterone than white men, this is a fact, i don't know why you assume this can't be, you outright mention that it's not proven, why do you think that, even just anecdotally you should be able to see that west Africans have more muscle and deeper voices and stuff.

@Ashley i dont think that was what the commenter you replied to was implying but i agree with you. My old boss was reporting people to some gov't agency after the fact about fake bills worth as little as $20, and i was like ok dude, but to call the police immediately? Knowing the police do shit like this to people? Yikes. And if it happens more than 2-3 times you just get a counterfeit bill marker and have employees check each bill worth $20 or more. Simple. The police can't even do shit to help you or hinder the flow of fake money, they'll just "punish" someone who might not have even known what they did wrong.
i really respect you for admitting your hypocrisy as so many others would attempt to excuse their past actions, whereas you know that you have changed and are STILL continuing to learn and change for the better.
Sentinel_Spyder. exe how is that related to this comment? Regardless of the fact that I find your comment dumb, you should still be posting it on the main comments page, it has nothing to do with this comment about Ethan admitting to his mistakes
Exactly. Not to mention that even if you are guilty of such low level crimes, death is not the sentence and a police officer doesn’t have the right to administer that justice on the spot. Judge, jury, executioner.
Has it? Literally no one is saying what the cop did was ok, but why do you needs to paint this guy like some sort of saint who did no wrong? He was walking outside while having covid and he resisted arrest. He should not have died, but if someone is pointing out his mistakes, it's so that other people can learn. He did make mistskes, and its in everyones interest to admit that he did and learn from them instsad of just going all "muh racismus".
Oromie X so what you’re saying is mr Floyd should have trusted a man that was not only capable of, but eventually would, take his life over a $20 bill (fake or not, it doesn’t matter)…he might not be "guilty" until a jury finds him so, but we all have the right to look at the video evidence and come to that conclusion now. I can guarantee you wouldn’t make the same argument for the Boston Bomber or someone who killed a person, on video/security footage, while driving drunk. More people need to call this out for what is.…perhaps then the country wouldn’t be getting torn apart at the scenes.

As a white immigrant who spent some time in the US, I had to be given a “cultural” training from my employer by a third party agency. One part of it was how to act appropriately during police stops. I got the whole lecture, where to keep my hands while the officer approaches my car, what are my rights, strong advice on how to not escalate even if I am in the right 100% and things I shouldn’t do under any circumstances- like reach for my glove box or something unless I am asked to show paperwork. I come from a pretty white country with a heavy dose of police brutality, similar rules apply and my parents actually did talk to me on how not to act when dealing with the authorities. The big difference might be that, even if I was given such advise twice in my life, nobody ever presented uniformed police officers as “the enemy” or “something that I should fear”. It was all advice on how to be completely in the clear even at the remote case when you are dealing with someone who is unhinged, on a power trip or just out to fill his arrest/ticket quota. The mentality you have based on fears instilled in you plays a big role. A culture that constantly talks about “pigs” and “fuck the police” and instills overall an animosity towards the police establishment as a whole is counter productive. And that not only goes for black youth or black individuals. In 2008 in my country we had a two week long riot period, because a young, over privileged white boy saw a police car and thought it was a good idea to start throwing glass bottles on it and scream nice epithets to them. One of the “officers” in it came out to deal with the situation, it kept escalating with more object throwing and as an unhinged person he drew a gun, shot, the bullet ricocheted and the kid died. No racism involved, no classism involved, just a kid that had grown up despising the police due to things he heard happening to others, who thought it was a good idea to escalate and have his right of passage within his group of peers. I do not mean to negate any of your experiences, just thought I’d share how things really can be, regardless of race.

I live in Norway, and the police training takes 3-4 years to complete. The process include things like moral tests and how well a person handle stress. I think the way to end police brutality in the Us is to make it harder to become a police officer.
Thats how it is here in Norway and almost the entire population like and respects the police officers.
That's exactly how it should be
De kan være like store drittsekker som i USA, du røyker litt ræv å de behandle dæ som du e en morder

Cops were responding to someone armed so that is exactly why they reacted that way. Arguments about George Floyd's character, whether true or false, are completely irrelevant. The cop didn't know about Floyd's past when he took him to the ground.
True, but this is true for the individual cops involved not being a representation of the entire police force
I'm not saying that racism isn't an obvious issue in police forces all over the world, but it's not a systemic problem with the structure of the police itself and is rather a problem of individuals who join the police, although i will agree that the fact these people make it into the force is a problem unto itself
good point. doesn't mean all cops are bad and people still seem to believe that even after 12 months of this ignorance.

My father was related in gangs during my early childhood (until he passed away when I was eight years old) and one of my earliest memories are of the police barging into my house to detain my father. My situation would have ended with either my father being imprisoned or killed on the spot, both of which wouldn't have left my mother or any part of my family with a fighting chance.

41 year old Black man here, this is my most memorable interaction with the police:
1992, 13 years old, at the park between my building and Willoughby, Marcy Houses, Brooklyn NY.
Thank you.

All cops should be required to wear body cams that film at all times. If a cop has a problem with that then clearly they're doing something they shouldnt.

KOZER KOG not in the Netherlands
Supreme_Court
Not really into the statistics, not even American, and I’m really trying to stay neutral, but with that said nothing irks me more than racism.
I would like to believe it because there is a great difference between men and women, just biologically and culturally, but there shouldn’t be that much difference between to men, of different color. Yet, we are treated very differently, by each other, and often worse.
@@Wollenbear so sexism is OK and racism is bad? I'm sorry but both problems are EQUALLY as important!!

“Innocent until proven guilty” has gone out the window.
Exactly. Not to mention that even if you are guilty of such low level crimes, death is not the sentence and a police officer doesn’t have the right to administer that justice on the spot. Judge, jury, executioner.

Guilty, charged, served time, then probably killed, “Oh shit, he was innocent”
