Aunty Flo, I enjoyed watching this with hubby. He grew up in Onitsha and was so happy seeing places he still remembers. He even saw his primary school (Premier) 😁. Thanks for taking us along on this trip.
Hello. I found your videos after I did a search on UA-cam for Onitsha. I have a friend who is a Catholic priest. He teaches at a seminary in Onitsha. The seminary is on the side road on the right after you pass the traffic circle and the big house and get on the expressway.

@Flo Chinyere, thanks for a beautiful job. I recognized every inch of the video - even with the many new structures. Crying shame that Awka Road has not been expanded. Please go to Dunukofia soon - all the towns. I'm subscribed. Thanks again.
For them to expand Awka Road, lots of houses will have to go and you know in Naija we don't like that. Landlords along that road will keep lobbying against that till we get a no-nonsense governor.
Yes oh. Premier primary school. The name changed when I was there, was known as All saints primary school Onitsha when I schooled there, I don't know if it's still same now. Awwwwwww!! I was hoping to see my dad's office in Nkpor road but the video ended 😩😩 Thank you so much Aunty Flo. You brought back so much memories.

Wow Flo, I did not know you grew up in Onitsha. Well in this 15 minutes clip you took me back memory lane from 1993 through 1996 when I lived in boarding school @ St Charles Special Science School. From the memories of visiting my older brother @ DMGS Onitisha, to confirmations/church services at All saints cathedral. Yes Premier pry Sch was one of the best schools to attend at the time. I remember Inter house sports @ Ado Girls, FGGC Onitsha, New yam festivals @ Obi's Palace, names of the popular streets and places such as Bida Rd, Oguta rd, upper new mkt rd, Ime Ogbe, Inland Town, Okosi rd, Awka rd where my school is, New Nkissi @ G.R.A, St Mary's Cath Church, Famous Savoy Hotel. I see subtle changes and off course the usual busy Akwa Road. Glad to see that Zik's roundabout have been upgraded and also his house converted to museum or so. You were close to Limca Rd in Nkpor as I could recall. I also had family friends who lived in GRA so I ended up staying a few days in GRA before heading back to Lagos or Nnewi when the term is over. I will definitely visit Onitsha when I go to Nigeria. Thank you for sharing this beautiful video! I shared this video on my WhatsApp class old boys group. They loved it.
Wow! Chibuike i bu nwa ogbe confirmed! Beautiful sister FLO, welcome HOME, you no everywere, I can see you are very happy to be HOME. I must tell you you, there is no place like HOME. enjoy it. Beautiful video.
Flo, thank you very much for this video! Onitsha is one city when i compare it's current development to other premier cities of similar age in Nigeria, i tend to weep for Onitsha. Perhaps, Onitsha missed the opportunity of becoming a state capital and that adversely changed the course of development into a truly modern city like Port Harcourt, Kano, Kaduna or Calabar. All the key cities of the 1960s and 70s are now state capitals and decently developed their infrastructure except Onitsha and Aba. As a nurse that worked at Onitsha general hospital, I wanted you to go into the General Hospital Onitsha to see if they kept their promise to turn the place into a state specialist hospital. It is so disheartening that Onitsha remains the ONLY city of its size in Nigeria (1-2 million inhabitants) without a Federal Medical Center or Teaching hospital to adequately cope with the health needs of the people. Gov. Obiano seemed to have noticed the anomaly and decided to convert the present General hospital into a State Specialist hospital. Indeed the Governor started renovating the archaic structures and building modern wards and surgical theaters, modern doctors quarters and even a helipad. Then he suddenly stopped! Like the usual jinx of anything good coming to Onitsha suddenly stops by some magical influence. But, i wonder if upgrading the General hospital Onitsha into a state of the art Specialist hospital was all mere fake campaign promises or he really wanted to improve healthcare delivery within Onitsha by truly building a competent referral Specialist hospital in Onitsha.
My mother retired as a nurse in Onitsha general hospital 4 years ago, not much changes. Most of the place has been leased to private companies, from the medical laboratory to morgue, and more

No, I don't think so. The tourism boards do not create awareness for these places. They should even make parts of it open to the public so people will be enticed to visit.
Flo Chinyere do you think that they understand what tourism is all about-No? I don’t think so. They are just there to answer the name and embezzle money. I saw the house and it looks very beautiful and I believe the sector can generate huge money for the state if they understand what tourism mean.
@@cjcj955 exactly that's why the "tourist" should not be blamed. Anambra alone has so many tourist attractions but the people responsible do not create enough awareness. They don't believe that a state government can make money from tourism, taxes and fines. Meanwhile some western countries are built and run with money from only these three sources. Nne we would have taken Old Road o because it has more interesting landmarks but the fear of Nkpor Junction gridlock will not let us be great. 😂 I'll see what I can do, inugo?
Oh, I thought noo ndi Queens, ndi Qior 😂 ka ndi Dengram likelu? I remember when Onitsha and Nkpor were dragging the land where your school is. Then, if they put Nkpor on the sign, Onitsha people would knock it down, if they put Onitsha, Nkpor people would knock it down. 😂 Eventually they had to put Anglican Secondary School Old Road on the sign to avoid fight.
@@FloChinyere Eeehh ndi Dengram likelu ndi Queens but we no gree naaa 😂😂 Queens too dey form, We call Dengram our husbands 😂, in fact we're Co-wives to Dengram..
Yes ooo, the fight then was real 😂, hapu fa, oo Afo ka ha rijuru.

iii. ADO Girls Sec. Schl right there on Awka road at Okosi road junction.
iv. Former Social Centre (now a totally transformed very good Girls' Secondary school, and New Onitsha Stadium inside before/behind Obi of Onitsha's Palace.
V. Ezechima Primary school- named after Obi Ezechima (one of the ancient days Obi of Onitsha), just before The Two St. Charles (Special Science) College(s) inside before/behind St. Mary's Cath. Church.
BIG BITE is the name of Happy Bite's Special bread. I was attacked, robbed & dispossessed of my 3 months old Honda CRV under gun point right infront of Inosi Onira - residence and final resting place of The Rt. HNRBL Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe - Owelle Onitsha. Beside Dr. Namdi Azikiwe's residence is All Hallows Seminary - on Old road also leading to Nkpor - but you took left and got on the Enugu-Onitsha express way, then ended your video. Really nice video 👍👍👍
I want to send you to my father's compound in Nnewi... i live here in Los Angeles, California US
