Injectors probably went bad. You can bench test them if you have the time or just send them off for a rebuild. I watched Ant on Wheeler Dealers bench test a set of four injectors on a GTI today. Those things have a lot of flow going through them, if one is off the car will run rough but when a bunch are jacked up the car will run like Scrap National! Thanks for the video!
I bought a 87 GN out of the salvage yard about 10 years ago. It was sitting on the floor pan without and rims on it. I wish UA-cam would allow pictures because I'd show you how I found it.
Really helpful video, just about to pull the gas tank and replace the pump in my own. I was wondering, when you jack up the front of the car, where are you putting jack stands/jack?
great video!! but please jack up the car and cut off the extra zip tie length from those rubber isolators on the tank I won't be able too sleep knowing they are under there lol

Also just came to mind if the vacuum lines are good. Only 3 sensors can be causing the issue. I would start with the MAF sensor, then IAC, and then the TPS sensor. I would change one and see if it runs better. If not change another then check.
I have a 1982 Chevy Malibu Classic Wagon 267 V8 and the speedometer needle broke. Do you know anywhere I can get a replacement needle for the speedometer? I have looked on quite a few different websites and haven’t had any luck. I’m not sure if I am not looking at the correct things but can anyone help me please?
I have a 1987 cutlass supreme, when I bought it the people before me put a little toggle switch in that you have to flip to turn ignition power on. Then you use the key, also you have to use the toggle switch to shut the car off. I looked and there is no power going to the main ignition wire for the coil, so the way they did it was run a wire off the battery and to the switch. I’m at a loss and any help would be great!
Well you need power going to the coil or it won't have spark. All I can suggest is remove everything they did and put it back to factory. I can't really help because I am not sure what they did exactly. This is something you need to start digging into and find out exactly what they did to rig it up.

Hey Richard. Thanks for your support. I do plan to make a video of engine pulling this summer but as for now you need to remove everything connected to the engine. Exhaust, mounts, fuel lines, throttle cable, wire harness, battery cables, AC lines be carful if the system is charged, ground wires, power steering lines and so on.
Before starting an engine that has been sitting for years with old gas, even if the tank was replaced, you first need to purge out all the old gasoline that may remain on the lines & in the system. Open up a line at the engine area, activate the fuel pump till all the old yellowy-orangy fuel flushes out & you see new gasoline come out for a while. This will also help out clear out any loose sediment from metal lines & light gasoline varnish. If you don't do this, some of that crap will get into your injectors or carburetor, then good look adding much more work & headaches to your project. People may think that the old gas from a car that's been sitting for years may have vaporized, but this is just a safety precaution. Remember, purging the gas till new gas comes out, also clears out sediment & other harmful materials.

Don't forget to check under the dash for vacume lines. Had a 79 Olds Slant back Sedan, there were several vacume lines under the dash to the heater /AC box that were leaking. Is there a cruise control system on this classic? These were also attached to the vacume system as well. I am surprised you didn't clean and paint with epoxy paint the retaining straps to the tank. I would have even painted the tank under the rubber strips as well with epoxy. Every little bit done now is something that will not need attention for quite some time. One big question? Did the salvage yard sell this with a clean title?
I am not concerned about painting anything on this car. Getting it running right is first priority. Good call on the dash vacuum lines. I am aware of them but need to check them. Pull A Part never let the title go as scrap so it's clean.

@@VideoServicesVB how is low cylinder compression related to fuel delivery LOL you have 1 cylinder that low compared to the other 5 there is a definite internal problem , it's not fuel delivery at all ?? Maybe at some point it will get raffled off. I need to finish the car first. Working on videos now.
If it's got a dead cylinder why would you expect it to run well?
Where did you get the idea that it is dead? He said it was low. And he did an oil test. He knows the results. The injectors are most likely gummed up. It's a fuel delivery issue.
Many other issues to work through my friend. A potentially low compression cylinder would not cause the issues its having.
@@VideoServicesVB how is low cylinder compression related to fuel delivery LOL you have 1 cylinder that low compared to the other 5 there is a definite internal problem , it's not fuel delivery at all ?? Yes it could be a number of other cylinder related issues including head gasket , valve issues , piston rings issues but certainly not fuel delivery ! This car was not sent to the scrap heap for a fuel delivery issue LOLOL
@@sjcea0512 thanks for your comments, i really appreciate you watching and together we will figure it out. Have a wonderful day, weekend and stay safe. Looking forward to keeping up with my progress on this build so we can see what the issues end up being. I will keep you in mind.
For the car not running try the starter or battery
It cranks fine, starter and battery has nothing to do with it
Working on the same project with the same car, keep the videos coming we missed you mann
Awesome and thanks!

@@ClassicGBodyGarage Then you know you bought a 🍋 & need a motor...
Who in their right mind would send a GRAND NATIONAL to the boneyard?!?
Yeah no kidding
Someone completely stupid that didn't realize what they had or mybe the city towed it and forced the owners had who knows
Just conveniently skipped over that o- ring right.
