Stuff I (probably) stole from Wikipedia:
Joker is a 2019 American psychological thriller film directed and produced by Todd Phillips, who co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Silver. The film, based on DC Comics characters, stars Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker. Joker provides a possible origin story for the character; set in 1981, it follows Arthur Fleck, a failed stand-up comedian whose descent into insanity and nihilism inspires a violent counter-cultural revolution against the wealthy in a decaying Gotham City. Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Bill Camp, Shea Whigham, and Marc Maron appear in supporting roles. Joker was produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Films, and Joint Effort, in association with Bron Creative and Village Roadshow Pictures, and distributed by Warner Bros.
Gotham is an American crime drama television series developed by Bruno Heller, produced by Warner Bros. Television and based on characters published by DC Comics and appearing in the Batman franchise, primarily those of James Gordon and Bruce Wayne. The series premiered on Fox on September 22, 2014, and concluded on April 25, 2019. The series stars Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon and David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne. The series was originally intended to focus only on Gordon's early days with the Gotham City Police Department, but they subsequently included the Bruce Wayne character and the origin stories of several Batman villains, including Penguin,[4] Riddler,[4] Catwoman,[4] Poison Ivy,[5] Scarecrow,[6] Mr. Freeze,[7] Hugo Strange,[8] Solomon Grundy,[9] Ra's al Ghul,[10] Nyssa al Ghul,[11] Bane[12] and The Joker.[13]
Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska are fictional characters appearing in the FOX television series Gotham, developed by Bruno Heller and based upon the Batman mythos originating from comic books published by DC Comics. Unable to utilize Batman's nemesis the Joker directly, the series uses Proto-Jokers (played by Cameron Monaghan) to create a cultural lineage for the supervillain. Both adapt different characteristics of the Joker, which are intended to lead to the character's origin story later on. - Фільми й анімація
Jerome embodies the classic Joker, for me. When he talks about society, it’s never about his goals, it’s always a lie to achieve his goals. Even when he was dying and he talked about himself being an idea, I take it in my head canon that he was just saying to to tease what Jeremiah was going to become. It’s a joke to him. Arthur, on the other hand, is all about hating society, which is what the modern Joker is about.
I really hated that line. It's the pinnacle of a character saying exactly what the audience already knows about them. Joker (2019) does this too when he's in the interview but I think it was more deserved then, at least.
Modern joker is just as sick and tyrannical as all the others. Have you read death of the family?
MovieBlocks Productions A.K.
Yeah, but that’s the problem. He’s TOO edgy. He’s basically become a slasher villain at this point, and it’s harder to have fun with him than in, say, The Laughing Fish, where he joker-ized a bunch of fish, then sued fishing companies in Gotham for copyright
Alexander Smith well that’s because comics have become for adults in the last few years. While they mostly have T ratings, the writers have been able to do darker things with the characters. There used to be much more of a child audience with comics. Although I do agree that I would prefer a joker who could be psychopathic and goofy at the same time.
MovieBlocks Productions A.K.
I think there’s always a happy middle, like Jack Nicholson. It think the reason Joker has become darker is because people are always screaming to the heavens about the greatness of Ledger, but he was dark in that version because the Dark Knight was realistic, and that doesn’t translate in the same world where Batman paints his house yellow to fight green lantern. Basically, less Ledger, more Nicholson is what I think Joker should be
I think Jerome is much more Comic accurate his whole persona and attitude reflect comic joker a lot more. That's what I love about him
i like the classic joker one which was shown in gotham. i like jeromes joker more than this joker arthur.
Me too i like jerome
yesss i agree! jerome was like watching the cartoon joker with all the unpredictability in live action. when he pulls out the chainsaw to have a sword battle with his fellow maniax. that had me clapping! jerome was the joker.
phoenix joker didnt really feel like i was watching the joker we all know. but an amazing performance non the less.
Saaameee
I actually like the fact that despite being a Gotham boy and clearly loving Gotham more than joker he's still willing to objectively give the point to joker
Jerome: insane
Arthur: depressed
Arthur is both
Would have been funny if Jerome and Jerimiah had another sibling, triplets like the 3 joker theory.
Shinkai Atusya 👀
Plot twist Arthur was the 3rd child
Bro I was thinking that yesterday what is the third sibling is more sane than Jerome and Jeremih
Me: scrolling in UA-cam being bored and about to fall asleep
Channel pup: ARTHUR VS JEROME!
ME:ADRENALINE RUSHES THROUGH VEINS AND USES ALL MY POWER ON WATCHING THAT GODDAMN VIDEO
😂 Aww, for some weird reason I feel like giving you a hug. I have no idea why, I'm weird.
Jerome: I have everything I need to be the Joker.
Arthur: except the name
Arthur just had name and the make up everything else was so off putting
@
exactly man
the name is uniconic. jerome is a new name. unique name. the only one instead of repetitive use
Before Watching:
In terms of being like the Joker, I feel as if good ol Cal Kestis is better in that department.
In terms of doing something different with the role but still keeping the idea of the Joker in mind, Sad Society Man has got that down.
After Watching:
So, it's an almost tie? Huh, I was expecting Jerome to wipe the floor with Fleck, but aight. I still believe that Jerome is the better Joker, in terms of being like previous versions and like comic versions, and being successful even with the slight disadvantage of not being coloured in. I also believe that Arthur is a great Joker, but works better more like an elseworld, different interpretation. Like he's the Joker, but not like the others. Just a really good reinterpretation of the character.
The best Jokers battle, wow.
The difference between Jerome's abuse and Arthur's is that Jerome was crazy and evil before his mother and uncle's abuse and Jeremiah's lies not because of them. He would have become what he was even if he'd had a good family. But with Arthur if things had been different he might have been a good man. With him the abuse he went through doesn't justify his actions but it does explain them. The abuse did affect him but he made his own choices in the end. Whereas Jerome was evil and just happened to be abused.
Funny how you said that Jerome was evil and crazy even before the abuse . I sort of had a theory of my own that Jerome was actually lying about his past . Like in 1x16, notice how none of the circus clowns or workers warn Jim and Lee on the possibility that Jerome might be acting like the "scared and confused son who just lost mommy", and Jerome did say that many of the circus members slept with his mother and abused him . If they ( the circus members ) do know that Jerome was abused then why didn't any of them warn them that Jerome might be the murderer they're looking for ? I mean it's sort of an obvious fact that if a child is abused it might become somewhat unstable later if not recieving any help .
@@WhyTho525 Jerome at self say: police are idiots" or something like that.
What we can wait for clowns, Jerome know and can manipulate?
I say Gotham’s joker was better, well, at least jeromes version
Why ?
@@GellertTV Have you seen his performance?
@@GellertTV jerome felt more like watching a real life version of an animated character. he was unpredictable to the core in a surprising entertaining way.
like when the penguin started doing his mime routine. and jerome was about to punch him.....and hit a fake wall! that was a beautiful scene! jerome plays along with the mime routine!
@@imnotsurewhatimdoinghere7676 Of course it's fantastic but I'll say we haven't watched Joaquin's Joker yet since it was only his origin story
@@depurasangre86 Yes but let's see if Phoenix plays the Joker and not Arthur Fleck in future movies (If the 50mil rumor is true)
Exactly. Jerome and Jeremiah are both Jokers. They just weren't allowed to call them that. But that didn't make them any less 2 versions of The Joker. DC and WB only wanting to use the Joker name for the films was stupid anyway. Just another case of them thinking that people would be confused by the Valeska brothers, Leto's Joker and Arthur Fleck even though people know they're 4 different versions of Joker in 3 separate universes.
jokeman is better than both which is clearly why he wasn't included in this because he'd be the obvious winner
True, neither one of these guys lost their PP like in th cOMICS

I think Jerome wins I loved Joaquin Phoenix but he needed more time as The Joker I feel if they make a squeal they could have him fully becoming The Joker
masterful breakdown of these two, really well done
nice to see the 2010s are only keeping the live action Joker streak going
(except Jared Leto even though I didn't *despise* him and there was/still is genuine potential there)
Also in the end after Arthur kills Murrey, that's when I feel like he lost his sense of morality, because he kills of a nerse for no reason and finds the Waynes murdered to be hilarious.
I think he lost it earlier, when he was chased by the detectives . Like he stole a clown mask of a guy who did nothing wrong to him, then he laughed and danced after another guy was accidentally shot by one of the detectives in the subway chase sequence . He also admitted to Murray that killing people was funny to him . Also, he said to Murray about he's not political, and on the show Arthur constantly begins to berate the rich and Thomas Wayne . The reason Arthur began to talk about the rich and Thomas Wayne on the show so he could gain the approval and the sympathizies of the Clown Movement and thus he could have his audience .
Tamás Pákey True, but I think he was being sincere about delivering that last joke to Murrey, about how what happens when you ridiculed someone's who's mentally ill and being treated badly by society because of it.
In my opinion Phoenix wins but that’s my opinion
Montez Demarrco did I ask fam and it’s my opinion
@ Because it was an origin story film .
@@hellspawnwholaughs1357 u clearly can't read cuz the question was "how'
@@WhyTho525 makes more sense I think killing joke is better
Montez Demarrco just like that you have an opinion about killing joke being better and I’m not questioning your opinion
Channel Pup: (mockingly) “Oh, I should dedicate my life to this random crazy guy.”
Well that’s the point of Joker, he knows his goons would do anything to earn the respect of Joker and praise him for his unpredictability and craziness. He’s a god to them and of course that makes everyone part of the Joker gang dangerous too. Jerome is the Joker- the original classic character that appears in the games, shows, movies, toys, comics. We love Joker for what he is- and he is a narcissistic, dangerous, crazy and unpredictable. I think Jerome should’ve got the point as he seemed more close to the comic Joker.
Also Gotham is full of discontent and there could by many crazy people waiting unleash their inner madness onto others without fearing the consequences. Then Jerome came in and inspired them not to wait for the moment but act and enjoy the moment. Sadly the show didn't really explore this and the cult of Jerome came out of nowhere
Do we even need to ask this question?
He doesnt like Joaquin Joker that much
I mean, yeah. I love Joaquin Phoenix's Joker with every part of my being, but Pup loves the Jerome version. +Both are great interpretations of the character
Spidey because he doesn't like violence
@@dwightschrute3992 wdym? I don't know how that links to what I said. Love the name btw, Dwight
The fact that I have no idea if you meant it as "Arthur/Jérôme will obviously win" , means that yes, we do need to ask this question ^^
Jerome will forever be my best Joker! Screw Arthur Fleck.
I like Jerome and Arthur the same. There both great.
*they’re -_-
Actually had this conversation with my family about a week ago, we were big fans Gotham and really liked Joker too. The similarities of Jerome and Arthur were fun talk about. So seeing this vid is real treat! Thanks I really enjoyed it.
Jerome was much more traditional and menacing, and a better joker
But Arthur was better because of Joaquin Phoenix’s incredible performance
Montez Demarrco I’m not arguing that Phoenix is the better joker, I’m just stating that I liked his performance a lot more(even though I loved cameron’s, particularly as Jeremiah)
Jerome is better as far as comics go
Jerome yeah yeah. How about Heath Leadger?
No
21:19 but Jerome battles young Bruce
Well the 18 year old, Jerome battled a 16 year old Bruce in season 3 .
In Gotham Bruce is a teenager and had been trained by Alfred and taught about Gotham by Jim and Selina by that point. Whereas the Joker film's Bruce is still a young boy who only loses his parents at the end of the film. Bruce's parents in Gotham had been dead for 2 years by the time of Season 3.
jerome is way more iconic. i have been watching since the beginning of the show and as you said neither battled batman aka bruce wayne. so yes you were wrong! jerome trys to kill bruce/ batman. they battle throughout the whole time jerome is alive in the show. jerome/ cameron is definitely way more iconic as he used his brother to continue his life. his philosophy. even tho it didnt continue as long as he would have wished. he by far has a better laugh than jouaquin or arthor if you must. jerome planned out his life as joker just played along with whats going on which switched back and got him arrested even tho he did get out. jerome is WAY more comic worthy. he plays, like you said, a cartoon character. if either were in a comic book i would expect jerome to be. as joker was a film/ movie, it ended sooner so obviously we didnt finish his story as we did jerome. jeromes epic comeback from the dead was better than jokers even tho he didnt even die, it was weak. in the movie joker, it was way more predictable than gotham/ jeromes scenes. jerome was way more outgoing than joker could ever do. you also chose UNFAIRLY. the film joker COPIED gothams immaculate character jerome with the clothes and obbsesion with bruce and the immaculate filming scenes. yes i know all joker have an obsession with bruce but these two were the same. different than the others obbsessions with brue wayne/ batman. seeing as the film joker only had the one joker was quite boring to me. jerome has developed WAY more the arthor had in his 40s- 50s. jerome started at 17-18 years old. jerome played inoccent at first so it made it confusing when her killed half the city within months before arrest back to arkham. like i said, jerome came back from the dead and as he played inoccent. when we makes a comeback to life, he kills many people faster than joker would have. he is way more superior than joker in many ways. he also suprises bruce/ batman when he, ya know, came back to life. so if you were to think or plan all of this out jerome would win by a LONG shot.
This isn't even a competition Joaquin Is miles better then Jerome but anyways I don't think it's fair to compare any of the joker's because they all play a unique version of the Character that stands out from the rest no joker is ever the same so I don't think it's fair to compare them
I compared them because of their similarities.
@@ChannelPup i realize that just still don't think it's fair to compare them
The producer of the joker bile does not know who the joker is, but his name starts with the letter j
Know that
*Great video!*
8:38 I think you missed the point entirely of that message, this is one of the few big characteristics of the Joker that they encapsulated perfectly and in such a subtle way, which is just how manipulative he is. Arthur doesn't believe any of the things he's saying and this is made very clear by 2 key phrases he said prior, which are "I don't believe in anything" and "I'm not political", Arthur is aware of the clown movement, he's aware of the tension that's been rising because of that movement so this message is exactly the kind of message that a revolutionary social movement would want to hear and would identify with, he said all of this to get the people on his side, because he craves their approval and their attention, not because he truly believes it. I can def see how given his life experience he could be genuine about it, but it is not a call to solidarity, it's a treacherous way to win over an entire army of people for his own selfish purposes.
@ I'm sorry what? How.
I would think to compare the dark night and Joker, but Gotham has a good joker as well, Jerome is a show stealer while Arthur is more of a villain you can really feel for
@ yeah no, I felt that Joker 2019 did a great job of making you feel empathy for Arthur. By showing hin being a genuinely good person but he gets punished for it time and time again. It's a thing that a lot of versions of Joker seem to lack.
I like Athur better because you can actually get behind him, when you laugh with him, your not laughing with the devil, your laughing with an insane avenger.
I'd love to see you pit other versions against each other
He talks as if there is one joker and if any changes are made then it’s not the joker
What’s will jokers and dying from falling? They did it in Batman, Gotham, and alluded to it in both the comics and the animated series.
Also we don’t actually know if joker fell in that’s just the most excepted origin
Objectively, I'd say Arthur is the better character. However, Jerome is the better Joker. We never really get to see Arthur become the clown prince of crime in all his glory, so maybe I'd feel differently if there was a sequel. But I just can't see Arthur Fleck duking it out with Batman, whereas Jerome looks like he came straight out of Batman TAS.
Jerome is a better joker but Arthur is a better character i thought we were talking about who's the. Better joker
Jerome definitely super dangerous villain + more accurate comic book more scary , he never stopped killing people and doing the trap everywhere
They should’ve stuck with Jerome and not given us whatever the hell Gotham’s joker was
Agreed 100 %
Jerome was awesome
Love the guys videos, but saying that comic accuracy is a “less important” aspect of a depiction of a character is outright stupid and disrespectful. Without the comics none of these shows or movies would ever exist
I didn't know that Jerome was sexually abused by his mom. When was that implied?
I assume Pup meant how the Valeska mother would have sex with sketchy dudes in their small trailer, probably not bothering to "hide" from lil'J.
It's not as bad as what happened to lil' Arthur obviously, and I'm not certain it technicatly qualifies as "sexual abuse" but it's not a sane/safe environment for a child either.
But if I've also missed something, (maybe a small detail from Jérôme's talks with his Dad & Uncle, that I kinda forgot?), somebody will surely clarify.
@@randallflagg3700 nah I remember when he kills his dad he talks about how the clowns and circus members and his mom would do 3 Bs to him. Bullying, Banging, and Beating Jerome which he referred to as their fav game. You can interpret that many ways and pups def could be right
I thought it was no question that Arthur is by far the better of the two. The guy that plays Jerome seems like a good actor. And at the same time it's not really fair to compare since one is a lower budget tv series and then the other is a movie.
For me jerome is like Heath Ledger's joker son
9:47
It is a good comparison, but maybe the Jerome followers are'nt obsessed only for that "minute of fame", from their point of view they live in a "lost city" where the law never acts,It is a place where the strongest predator rules, some day they watch a guy on TV who could punch to the entire GCPD (and they believed that Jerome was the Maniax's mastermind) and his speech resembles the voice in his head that suggests them "kill them all".
in that sense the city of the film seems more susceptible, a subject shoots 3 fools in the subway and that triggers a revolution, they discover that Arthur did it, they see him shooting Franklin (I don't know how he entered a gun in the studio ) and they admire him ... if we think about it, Arthur only killed unarmed people, maybe he didn't deserve as much respect as Jerome
Arthur hid the gun in his suit . Also he could've said that it was just a prop . However I agree with your other statements
@Rap Battler X The 80’s.
Jeremiah practically has the full appearance in the finale
Ecxept the hair
I'd say Jerome I mean Arthur fleck has only killed like 4 guys meanwhile Jerome he's killing a lot of people plus Jerome has a better personality of the joker and Jerome kind of smarter
Channel Pup, previously you mentioned something about covering a cursed Spiderman movie disc, when will you upload it?
I think I prefer Arthur Fleck over Jerome Valeska because in the Joker film they literally use the word Joker where in the Gotham tv show they don’t even use that word even once in the entire shows run bitches 👍
Well they couldn’t cuz they didn’t have the rights to the joker character. But if they did then best believe Jerome would’ve been the joker
both are great ngl
Jerome no question.
Do a talk on the Riddler from Gotham. If you run out of valeska topics.
Are you going to do an updated version of the Joker outfits from worst to best?
Hmm.. Both Rated MA15+ (Here in Australia), Both have abusive Mothers, Both murder their Mothers, Both search for their Dad’s, Both end up killing their “Dad’s” (Thomas Wayne wasn’t really Arthur Fleck’s Father but was the “Father” he was searching for), Both abused as children. I’ve watched both, and love both. I honestly don’t know which is better, both stunning performances, I have to say Joaquin Phoenix’s performance was better (just because he’s supposed to be mentally ill and everything, basically he has more to act for) but other than that, they’re both GREAT, AMAZING, PHENOMENAL Tv Show’s/Movie’s. But, I have to say, Joker (2019) is better, because Gotham isn’t centred around Jerome, it’s a Tv Show with many, many characters. Whilst Joker is centred around Arthur Fleck.
My favorite in gotam is king of gotam penguin oswald
I’d be interested to see you do a similar video to this one, but with Ledgers joker from the dark knight!
I love how he added black bars to both a movie and show that didn’t have them. :)
Nice
Arthur>Jerome but I'm seriously considering Jeremiah>Arthur or a tie
..............Todays kids.............
I can't take the acting in Gotham that seriously but joker kinda has a pretty good "joker performance" around a spoon fed story that doesn't leave much room for interpretation. I would look at Ralphthemoviemaker's review it says alot about our society.
Thanks for the strong level headed comment. I’ll check out Ralph’s review. I like his stuff.
I’m just waiting for Crisis on Infinite earths on the movie screen, and not just a TV show
There both great in there own way.
And plus, you barely see Arthur as the joker, you dont have much to work off to say who is better.
I can't say for absolute sure, but I'd probably be biased and say Gotham, just cos I love it show much! I have yet to watch Joker. I wanted to go see it with a friend but she said it'd probably be too dark for her. I'm surprised Jerome is the fan favourite tho. I know he's obviously up there, but I thought Penguin was usually the fan favourite.
They tried it so hard and got so far but in the end it doesn't even matter.
- WB to Fox Joker
Jeremiah valeska is the best live action Joker change my mind.
In a sequel His Then i Would Like To Have He Become A Criminal Mastermind And A NarraTor And All are Scared oF Him Yeah
@Titanic_fairer Are you dumb?
What about Jack Napier?
For me it is a tie between Jerome Valeska and Arthur Fleck
Arthur best
We need to appreciate Cameron acting, he played jerome and Jeremiah which is exactly two sides of joker. one is Chaos for chaos sake while another is a strategist. A simple crazy person cant beat batman he have to be a mastermind too and that's Jeremiah, the joker that have backup plans for his backup plans same as batman. Such great acting, if there is oscar for TV he should get it. Too bad there is no season 6 cuz an insane jeremiah would be exactly like the comic joker
Jerome had a backup plan too. When he died the second and final time he had Jeremiah sprayed with the gas which made Jeremiah into the new Joker, to continue Jerome's legacy and philosophy.

it’s not about getting through to people about mental health blah blah blah we are going to see the joker and laugh not to be sitting wondering if it’s real or fake and what the ducks going on the whole movie it’s meant to be entertaining it’s an origin spend the first 45min turning him into the joker then have him figuring out what hes going todo to make his big entrance on Gotham have that then have him causing havoc in Gotham getting followers then he does something big that gets him caught as detective James Gordon takes him down gets put in Arkham then finish the movie with him meeting dr Harleen quinzell and end the movie with a shot of him smiling. As for who’s better argument Monaghan’s joker is the closest imo to Heath still but off but first time I watched he didn’t need to be called the joker to know that he was
Nothing against mental health just saying a point about the movie
