    The last of the fun manual rwd lightweight cars is exactly why I grabbed a 2020 🤘

  • @Cruzcontrol60
    @Cruzcontrol60 3 роки тому +33

    The word thrown around the internet to describe the new look of the BRZ is "Mature," and I agree. After I see the 86, I'll decide which one to buy.

    • @KJs_Garage
      @KJs_Garage  3 роки тому +6

      I agree, the styling is a lot less "boy racer" and more sophisticated. The first generation car started at less than $25,000 when it debuted as well, so the second one starting in the mid-thirties would definitely hit a different demographic

    • @Juergen_Mueller
      @Juergen_Mueller 3 роки тому +4

      Whenever the word "mature" appears in connection with a car all alarm bells are ringing for me as it stands for an increase in habituality and a loss of attractiveness and specific charms. As for the design both outside and inside (SUV-style cockpit), this comes true here one more time. The slightly but unmistakably inflated design which also now emphasizes the height and less the width is a clear step backwards compared to its slimmer and more athletic-looking predecessor. Even the dozens of design comparisons with other vehicles by the audience do not speak for the quality and independence of the design.

    • @douglaslin5469
      @douglaslin5469 3 роки тому

      @@Juergen_Mueller Some people might imagine the car in the videos and pictures has an: "emphasis on height and width". In actuality, the car is lower. It also has a lower centre of gravity. It's stiffer. It has low down torque. It even ships with decent tyres. As far as looks go - we'll know if its good looking a decade from now, because launch cars often look strange until their shapes sets future standards, and then a decade further on, they often look better than people thought when they first saw them. None of which will effect how it performs. Which I it sounds like this car is going to be about.

    • @Juergen_Mueller
      @Juergen_Mueller 3 роки тому +1

      @@douglaslin5469 First of all, I said that the design emphasizes "the height and LESS the width" and not as you quote "the height and the width".
      I am speaking about DESIGN ONLY. I'm NOT speaking of dimensions or technical subjects. However, it is an expression of particularly bad design when the vehicle looks to be higher than its predecessor, although in fact it is actually lower.
      I am judging the look of the car today and not after a decade as everybody else does. It is true that design is often judged different after a longer period. But this usually happens - if it does - with NEW designs that people need time to get accustomed to (e. g. the Chris Bangle BMW design). But the BRZ 2 design isn't new at all. You recognize its predecessor in almost all parts. But compared to that, it appears as a step back instead of forward.
      If someone didn't know which is the old and which is the new design I'm quite sure everybody will misjudge the order.
      In my opinion one of the weakest design achievements in recent years. The concept of the car, which continues to be enthusiastic, deserves something better.

      @@Juergen_Mueller I don't know about how the car looks, because I haven't seen it. As far as the looks of the 86/BRZ, they look very old fashioned to me, 1960's, much like the Maxda roadster looked like a Lotus. Just from the pictures, the 86/BRZ does look contemporary. But I judge cars in the metal, not from photos or videos.

    I like the BRZ front end better. Only thing is maybe tweak the grill design and it could be really stunning. Also you right the license plate mount point should not be on the bumper. Do a more stylized grill with mounting point for tag in the grill. Make the grill so you can not see thru it and see radiator.

      It is fixed that the BRZ won't be sold in Europe. As for the GR86 there are different kinds of announcements to be heard presently. The sales manager of my German dealer didn't even know the type designation GR86 some days ago.

    This car is going too be worth 28k and it doesn't have a boosted fa, in my opinion it's not worth it. It has a decent power upgrade yes but this is almost the same price range as a wrx, base model gt, and also a 370 when you have options like that why spend all this money for it especially when you have fwd cars like the gti, si, and veloster n that are cheaper and have more power and handle well. I'm not a big fan of the brz because I always felt like the motor always let down. I work at a Toyota dealership and always wondered why the did not just use the 2.0ts from the rc 300 and nx 200t or weird too say camry v6 shit even the wrx motor. These cars handle really well it just seems just like a waste too me subaru can't make a na motor worth a damn but toyota is fine with it because in the end they didn't have too spend near as much money as they would have developing something of their own.

      @ACommenterOnYouTube 3 роки тому

      Toyota does not care anymore about building anything that is worth a damn, hence why they have subaru, mazda and bmw in their cars ....
      Subaru states that slapping a turbo on their engine throws the balance off the car and hinders its performance and requires modifications to the suspension, etc. Its all horseshit.
      I have lost all hope for Toyota to make anything good. They lost their integrity back in 2002.
