    Love your videos Jeff. Made sure I “liked” them all which I rarely take the time to do. We are about to order Windsor clad for main floor of our Louisiana renovation and their vinyl windows for other areas of house. Will most likely get their 8 ft wide sliding door as well. We chose them over Quaker and Jeld wyn really from info gathered from your videos and generous advice. Fingers crossed that it goes well.

    great informative video. We are looking to change all the windows on our home with new construction double hung windows. given there are a lot of windows we are considering vinyl (windsor classic or pro) for cost however wanted your take on efficiency in long run. I hear vinyl expands and contracts quite a bit due to climate and that can cause seals to fail over time. Should we spend a bit more and go with fiberglass such as Marvin elevate? Any other alternatives are welcome. thanks in advance!

    • @HoustonWindowExperts
      @HoustonWindowExperts  Рік тому

      I'm absolutely confident that you would not have any more seal failure issues with the Windsor Vinyl products than you would with a fiberglass product. The only time I've experienced a benefit in having fiberglass is in extremely cold climates. If you have an extremely cold climate you should consider fiberglass as an option.

    Hey Jeff. How would you compare Andersen support vs Windsor support ? I've had really good luck with andersen, specically since their parts are so standard and haven't changed in so long. but Winsor seems to be a step up from 400 series in in quality for roughly same price. Just afraid of stepping to another company I don't have experience with. like I tried marvin for one small window, while their window looks much better than 400 series, but they are really hard to get a hold of for customer service. So now i am looking at windsor ty.

      Windsor relies alot on their dealer network. Don't let that alarm you... Windsor dealers are terrific!

    Hi Jeff, how is the grid on the fixed radius casement window different from the grid on the double hung window?

    • @HoustonWindowExperts
      @HoustonWindowExperts  5 місяців тому +1

      It's the same grid. They can do it any way you would like. It can be vertical and horizontal or it can have a radius to it. I trust that answers your question.

    • @lolavaletta
      @lolavaletta 5 місяців тому

      Ah okay, I asked because in the video you mention "I put a different grid on this so you can see some options." But I'm guessing they're all the 5/8" short putty. I think... ☺

    So, I ordered the Windsor Windows that you have in the first display, the Next Dimension Classic, and they came today. Unfortunately, they look nothing like the one you're showing, nor what they have on their website. My installer, who ordered them for me, showed me the order to confirm he ordered the right windows, and everything looked correct. So we called the rep with Windsor, and found out they have two types of frames for those windows. One with brickmoulding, which I believe is the one you show, at least according to how it was explained to me, and the other without. For some reason, the ones I got, without the brickmould, have a very modern profile. And none of the literature on their website, which does mention the two options, show a picture of how it looks without the brickmould. Because two of the windows I ordered were small casement windows that only came without the brickmould, and supposedly aren't even available in the Classic style, Windsor decided to make all my windows like those two, which is pretty upsetting. Just wanted to make sure others don't run into the same issue. Very disappointed, because this was the last house we were planning on living in, and we paid extra for the these windows to get what we wanted. I even had to call Windsor to find an installer in my area. At least, we paid less than the option we wanted would have cost, and they still look great. Just wish they would have asked me what I wanted, instead of assuming. When someone is paying over $10k for something, and has to wait months for it to arrive, you think they could take a few minutes to ask you.

      I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately, it sounds like you did not have a local dealer who was able to help you understand the differences. Do you have any recourse with whomever sold you those windows?

    Ok I have to know some things about these Windsor windows. In Illinois which is where I am located and not Chicago. In country side. … Marvin Essential which I wanted for my house are 5 months out! Andersen doesn’t carry pocket replacements for Pella frames. Only Andersen 100 fibrex is available and only 6 weeks out. Not bad today. A local lumber company says Windsor window casements will fit mine. I said I wanted the best so they quoted me the Clad Pinnacle. Windsor s site is very detailed and a bit confusing but lots of options which I like. I’m after a more traditional w casement with perhaps a 4 lite or prairie style. Is the Clad Pinnacle the best? I saw a Select also. And are they on time or out 3-5 months? I want the clad exterior and if wood is good with no rot like them old Pella proline I want it. Any thoughts for pocket replacements in Windsor? You mentioned this company once.

    • @HoustonWindowExperts
      @HoustonWindowExperts  2 роки тому +1

      I'd check out the Windsor Revive also. The Select is bulkier and only needed if your sizes can't be made with the Pinnacle.
      Lead time is probably about 3 months.

      @@HoustonWindowExperts that’s not bad today at 3 months. Another carpenter manager told me that one company a homeowner wants for windows is 40 weeks out! He said that is crazy and nobody is happy. So Revive is the other. Thanks.

    I love your videos! I wish you were transparent on pricing in these reviews. “Two dollar signs” “Toyota Camry” etc is hiding the ball. If you really are different than the high pressure companies I wish you would go all the way and let people know what to expect before wasting time with an estimate.

    • @HoustonWindowExperts
      @HoustonWindowExperts  2 роки тому +2

      Kenneth, I wish it were that simple. There are so many variables that go into the project. Many times, the window product itself is a small percentage of a total job. However, in the interest of transparency, anyone who sends me their sizes, I will give them a price via the Internet instead of making them go through a 3-hour presentation in their home. We have nothing to hide. With nearly 20 brands of windows, and many of them make several options, it's impossible to give you an answer and a 15 minute video as to how much a window should cost.

      @@HoustonWindowExperts have you thought about setting a standard that could apply most windows and using that as a baseline for comparison? Like this is how most people would spec a window with a standard size. That way you could directly compare nearly identical windows and have a price comparison. I would love to see that. Seems like comparing online is a black box.
