    Mine come out to like $8,000 for hiring someone to change just 4 large and one small (for the restroom) If you have mechanical skills, you can do it yourself. The windows will still run a bit expensive, $400-$600 each. You just need to look at the way the material you take off from the old ones and replace that material when putting the new windows. The rest is just filling out gaps and new mouldings to cover them. I've done three of my windows so far (one at a time). They look great, you just need to take your time. I did a lot of leveling so when it rained the water will drain in the right direction and not keep any standing water. The thought to start taking the window down is scary, but once you start, it becomes clear.

    Thank you so much for your referral list, Jeff. You referred us to Five Seasons Windows and Doors here in Denver. John (owner) was very easy to work with. They just installed the Anlin vinyl sliding glass door in our home and we love it. It was priced above the big box stores, but it is a higher quality product. My wife is so happy at how easy it glides on the rollers. The installation went smoothly. We had to wait around 3 months for the door to arrive from the Anlin factory in California. We appreciate the referral and will spread the word about Jeff's ljst.

    I just got a quote from Renewal by Anderson for a sliding patio door and 26 windows of various sizes with their proprietary wood/vinyl mix frames including screens and installation for $171,000 and with discounts got it down to $103,000! Maverick is definitely cheap. The quality is also low. They use builder grade materials and subcontract your project to the lowest bidder. Be sure to compare at least two others so that you're fully informed.
      The sweet taste of a cheap project only last so long. Statistics show that 25% of windows being replaced each year are windows that were replaced less than ten years ago.

      I like WinCore products. They offer a solid, mid-grade product at a fair price. I'd ALWAYS suggest Argon. It only adds $20 +/- to a window and helps reduce sound transfer, condensation, and cold. Sure it will leak at about 1% per year. Argon has nothing to do with seal failures. That's a misconception.

    How much does the size of the window impact the cost, is there a rule of thumb for like cost per sq ft of glass? For example what would a 4' x 7' fixed Andersen composite or Pella impervia window go for in a new construction home?

Depending on your situation I think they are best installed as a full frame window vs an insert replacement especially double hungs (sill angles). SP is a great company. I prefer the Marvin ultimate hardware especially on double hungs. Better looking and more historic aesthetic.

    Appreciate the pricing details. However confused a bit. Why would a million dollar 4 bed room house cost $150k for windows, but a 4 bedroom house that costs $300k only need $30k or less for windows? Assuming same house, same windows, same climate zone, just different markets? Yes I know there is different glazing and coating options, key for certain temperature areas, but asking just a general question? That was very confusing and sounds a bit suspect, (like window companies looking up costs of houses and making quotes based on that). Obviously California the rip-off capital of US will charge more, and Florida with hurricanes safety glass.
    But again, every thing same, shouldn't costs be same, and have NOTHING to do with cost of the house, but only the quantity of windows, quality of windows, and different local coatings needed ? Maybe clarify that next video if so, unless I am missing something.

    • @HoustonWindowExperts
      @HoustonWindowExperts  2 роки тому +3

      Great question. Typically the more expensive a house is the more likely they are to have more windows due to having a large sf footprint, more windows per room, bigger windows, windows with "real" grids, wood interior, interior and exterior casing, paint work, and the existing windows are typically more difficult to remove.
      However, if ALL things are equal, so is the price.

      They do not. Labor will vary based on the installation requirements. Obviously a window on the third floor would cost more to install than a window on the ground floor.
      Thank you for watching and your question.

    Jeff,
    What's your opinion on the company Windows USA.
    I'm in Atlanta area

    • @HoustonWindowExperts
      @HoustonWindowExperts  2 роки тому +1

      I'm not familiar with them. However, if all they have to offer is one brand of windows, and they give you any pricing gimmicks at all, you should probably avoid them. That's a sign that you're going to pay way too much for an inferior product.

    Thanks for your update, it's such a thing that people really have to consider too many facts, and all sales need customer make a decision on a short period of time. Fair game is a good one that should happen.

    You didn’t really make This clear so I wanted to ask. Do those costs your gave include install and removal of old windows or is they just the price per window?

    • @HoustonWindowExperts
      @HoustonWindowExperts  Рік тому +1

      That is just for the windows. The labor will vary based on your openings, which floor it's on, and what existing units you have today.

    Jeff, I've commented on a video or two of yours. The Windsor vinal window seems like the cats meow for me. Consider now I live in Minnesota. The quote I got was $24,500.00 for 9 slider windows and a slider patio door from a contractor that my siding and roofing contractor use. These would be new install type windows. When the siding gets replaced.
    What say you on this price?
    It's a bit moore than the 'sales artist' quotes if you buy that day. I don't want to cheap out my home for a 'convenience'

    Jeff, congrats on the success and thank you for putting together so many great videos. It's wonderful that you have explained the slimy techniques that tarnish our industry. We have been in business in Southern California since 1999 and we are also a family business that prides itself on taking great care of our customers. The long road to success is the best and serves our customers well. Good job and keep up the good work.

    Enticing title to this video but there's little helpful information in it. For instance, are the prices he suggest installed cost, or just for the window itself? A few installed examples of windows on houses would have been nice.

    I work for Champion Windows and have seen Home Depot charge $6300 for 3 DH, 1 PW tempered for $6300. Their windows retails for $350…😫😫😫

      The full service division of Home Depot is not the same as the products they sell in the store. It is considerably more expensive.

      How would you rate Champion Windows? I sell their Vinyl series.
      Usually with discounts they come to $1500-1700 per window.

    • @HoustonWindowExperts
      @HoustonWindowExperts  Рік тому

      Unfortunately, I do not have any experience with champion except for the old products that are now being replaced due to poor construction. The new products may be terrific, I just don't know enough about it to give an opinion.

    What i've been finding is 20 windows and a door, folks are trying to get $35K-$40K. that's padding on the windows and crazy labor charges :) If my Katy house needs some windows, i'll be pinging you, but currently living in California.
