Cate Blanchett is really a living acting legend. Just like Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren, Glenn Close, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Judi Dench, Angela Lansbury, Maggie Smith, and Emma Thompson.
And Julliete Binoche, Barbara Sukowa, Isabelle Huppert, Liv Ullmann, Ingrid Thulin, Harriet Andersson, Ingrid Bergman, Emmanuelle Riva, Marion Cotillard and Toni Collette
and yet Gwyneth Paltrow won the award for Best actress. Honestly, there's anyone, besides the academy, that thinks she did better? C'mon, there is no way
Picking only 10 out of Cate's incredible filmography is impossible. Heaven, Coffee & Cigarettes, Bandits, Veronica Guerin, Manifesto, Truth and many more are all amazing performances.
Blanchett is just a total GEM. Simply in my opinion, Blanchett is, by performance and by looks, equivalent to most iconic top actress from Hollywood's golden age.
She won an oscar for playin Katherine Hepburn, who's considered to be the greatest actress of all time. Or at least the one with more oscars. So, that should gives us a clue
She is one of the best actress! Love her voice! She can do comedy, drama, any kind of characters! She deserves 2 more Oscars for her work in Carol and Elizabeth.
I just realized something about Cate Blanchett. She plays more royal characters in most of her movies. So, does that mean she's the Royal Queen of cinema? 😧
so ya'll are ignoring the fact that she did 13 characters in Manifesto? she literally outdid herself in the Dadaism part. PUT SOME RESPECT ON THIS MOVIE.
While she was amazing in carol, her performance in blue jasmine was far more superior. In Carol she portrayed a more sane woman leading a glamour life who deals with controversy and a divorce where as in blue jasmine she literally became her character of a delusional, extremely depressed woman who lost absolutely everything and is forcing herself to remain sane. Her character in blue jasmine was far more complex compared to her character in carol and her performance in blue jasmine highly expressed the complexity and depths of her talents.
Carol had a nice soft glowing look, nice period clothing and sets, and nice acting, but I thought overall it was a forgettable film. Blue Jasmine was a much better wriiten film(woody allen) even though they were two totally different kinds of movies. Beleive it or not.. alot of the standout films are from acclaimed directors and writers so even though the cast can be very talented if the directors and writers are not especially talented the film can easily be Forgettable.
@@patr70 Carol isn't forgettable 1s of all. Her performance in Blue Jasmine was indeed very amazing bc it showed what she as an actress can do. Carol showed a life story basically n how love is love n it doesn't have an age n all that. I was just commenting how I felt about it. 💞
Meryl can very easily handle dramatic characters, too humane one with which we can relate so much. Despite my great respect for Meryl, her comedic roles often look much similar. Cate is able to do all the characters with equal grandeur, be it dramatic, tragic, comedic, pious, petite, vulnerable anything. Both are so talented that we have to thank God for both of them - they are not the best actresses/ female actors of this era but they are one of the best actors of all time. But Meryl being the predecessor she most likely paved way for future actresses like Cate. She would have surely been an inspiration for them. Ones contributions cannot mask the others.
Same, but I honestly think that carol is something, that should be left untouched, as it’s a masterpiece of its own and the open end holds every possibility one could think of
Just watched Elizabeth, Elizabeth a golden age, curious case of benjamin button, and blue jasmine over the past 2 weeks and I'm in love with her...she owns the screen!
First of all, it was about time you make this list for Cate's performances! And second - how could you not put her EXCELLENT performance in the film Truth? Not even in honorable mentions...seriously?? This movie and especially Cate's performance is so underrated and I can't understand why. It really should have been included on this list. But in the end, Cate has done so many great performances in her career, it's really hard to choose just top 10 of them, because she always gives her 200% in everything she does.
Without looking at the list, it might not match up but my favorite performances are: 5. Notes on a Scandal 4. I'm Not There 3. Elizabeth 2. Carol 1. Blue Jasmine
Who else thinks that her portrayal as Bob Dylan in I'm Not There should have won an Oscar? Also, her Notes on a Scandal? Those were spectacular! Anyone?
i just saw Notes On A Scandal yesterday for the first time and I can't take it out of my head. I always say that she should've won for Elizabeth and Carol, but those are great performances too. Let's just give her an Oscar every year, she would totally deserve it.
Crazy how her performance in "Truth" is always overlooked, one of her best work for sure. (Also, in what world was her performance in TLOTR better than The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Cinderella, Babel or Manifesto?)
However, I agree with your top 4 picks - you can't get better than that (in general). She's a masterclass of acting, a whole other level of excellence. I love and respect her so much ♥
Australian Indi film Little Fish. Her performance as Tracy the rehabilitated heroin addict trying to get her life back together despite everyone around her dragging her back to the lifestyle was the role that turned me into a devotee. She is amazing and funny and down to earth
My list: 1: The Lord of The Rings/Hobbit ( as Galadriel ) 2: Cinderella ( as Stepmother ) 3: Thor Ragnarok ( as Hela ) 4: Blue Jasmine ( as Jasmine ) 5: Elizabeth ( as Elizabeth ) ( i havent seen Carol yet :( )
The Gift and Charlotte Gray are oft overlooked in her storied career, but are quite nuanced. She should really have about four Oscars...yeah, I'm looking at you Gwyneth.
One of my favourites has definitely got to be Galadriel from the Hobbit & the Lord of the Rings. To me, the only role that comes close to matching that stellar performance is her role as Valka in How to train your Dragon 2. Bonus points for pulling off a Scotish accents. That takes some serious skill.
Add that Cate Blanchett has also worked with Kenneth Branagh for Cinderella, Taika Waititi for Thor: Ragnarok, and Guillermo Del Toro for Nightmare Alley.
I am obsessed with her after seeing Carol
My obsession started after watching her Elizabeth films
Me too
Me there
Me too
You should see her in "Mrs. America"
I personally think that Cate Blanchett is one of the very BEST actresses of any generation PERIOD...
Pretty sure everyone can agree on that. She's in the same level of Audrey Hepburn and Meryl Streep. She can be anything and still be great in it
She is way too under-appreciated. Every role she gets, she absolutely nails.
Cate Blanchett is really a living acting legend. Just like Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren, Glenn Close, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Judi Dench, Angela Lansbury, Maggie Smith, and Emma Thompson.
And Winslet, And Foster, And Davis, And Lange, And Hepburn, And Fonda, And Bergman
And Julliete Binoche, Barbara Sukowa, Isabelle Huppert, Liv Ullmann, Ingrid Thulin, Harriet Andersson, Ingrid Bergman, Emmanuelle Riva, Marion Cotillard and Toni Collette
hello ??? how about kate winslet with 7th oscar nomination ?
@@wanjahidin8664 Of course that Kate Winslet got 7 nominations. That makes Winslet's nominations a tie to Cate Blanchett's 7 nominations.

Blanchett’s performance in Blue Jasmine is one of the best performances in film history
WRONG
@@GentlemanGaGa29 you are wrong
Absolutely
Her performance was a tour de force, the greatest I have seen from any actress. I was spellbound from beginning to end.
Marion Coutillard on La Vie En Rose is regarded as the best performance on film history.
Cate Blanchett is a legend! 😍
I love her in Elizabeth.
She should have won Oscar for that. I love her performance.
+The Wolf Princess
A also love her in Elizabeth, but i think she was also very great in "Lord of the rings"

Her portrayal of Elizabeth is nothing short of spectacular.
This is my favorite role of hers.

She is my favourite actress. I adore her. She is so good. No words to describe her acting abilities. A wonderful woman.
Her performance in The Gift was captivating. Her ability to portray honest vulnerability is so moving.
super underated film. she and hilary swank are fantastic and keanu was damn good too.
Everything about this woman is iconic. An amazing actress, a beautiful person inside and out and a fashion icon. Love her 💗
Her Galadriel is so gorgeous, I believe that she is Galadriel if she ever comes to reality. Also most of fan arts looks a lot like her. Truly amazing
Her deep voice is so daunting and compelling ! 💖
I just realized something about Cate Blanchett. She plays more royal characters in most of her movies. So, does that mean she's the Royal Queen of cinema? 😧
Considering that she has that natural regal aura around her, yes.
Yess
she played the most award-winning actresses of all time and won an oscar for it, that shoud give us a clue
The woman. The legend. I am in love with her! My biggest inspiration. If I could meet any celebrity I would meet her.
We are just going to ignore "Manifesto" where Cate played around thirteen characters?
Surely that should have earned an honorable mention
#1 on my list. i kept waiting for it. Way better than Thor:Fragglerock
Exactly!!!

THAT IS SOME BIPOLAR 💩 RIGHT THERE!!!!

Blue Jasmine is heartbreaking. Excellent actress. This generation's Meryl Streep.
No she isn't an actress of this generation
Her generation is the 2000s
Sorry but Carol should have been #1 & Blue Jasmine could be #2. I love them all though.

She can do no wrong. What a great talent. Thanx for the great list!
All the characters she played in every film she made is absolutely great and perfect
She's better than Meryl. There, I said it and I'll never take it back.
André Camilo I’m a fan of Meryl too and I have to say I see your point
But not as good as Judy Davis. Cate based her role of Blue Jasmine on Davis in Husbands and Wives and Deconstructing Harry.

I was mind blown by her performance in Blue Jasmine. This was the best acting I've seen. Great movie because of her.
I’ve only seen Cate in Carol and Thor, and then alone had shown me that she is one of the top actors this world has.
Just top class.
Good list! Only wish "Truth" had been mentioned somewhere! Love Cate Blanchtt, one of the best!
Her 2 best performances by far are Elizabeth and Blue Jasmine, and she was fantastic in both.
Wish Lou from Ocean's 8 would have gotten an honorable mention. Lou was just super funny and the perfect partner to Sandra Bullock.
