My favorite ensemble cast was the Sonic the Hedgehog film cast. I like Jim Carrey's performance as the evil Dr. Ivo Robotnik. As well as Ben Schwartz as the voice of the fastest blue hedgehog himself, Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles the Echidna, and Colleen O'Shaughnessy as Tails. Not to mention James Marston as Tom, and Tika Sumpter played as Maddie.
I got one that worked: The Avengers (2012). The original six Avengers shine brilliantly because of the great onscreen performances from Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and Jeremy Renner.
Considering the oldest movie showcased is from 1994 , perhaps there should be a "classic" ensemble casts list--and maybe it could include the 1989 film "Parenthood".
Transformers one has one of the best ensemble performances in movie history with a whose who like Chris hemsworth, scarlet Jo Hanson , Brayan Tyree Henry , Lawrence fishburn , Steve bushemi and Jon ham
There was nothing wrong with the Suicide Squad 2016 cast. DC ruined the movie when they ordered last minute reshoots and edits cause they were trying to ripoff Deadpool which debuted that same year. If you have doubts about Jared Leto as Joker, I recommend looking up the deleted Joker scenes that are floating around on here. He plays a truly terrifying villain.
I was happy to see Boogie Nights appear at the end of this, even for a short clip. It's one of my favorite movies and an excellent ensemble piece. The characters become a found family by the end, and it's impossible to forget any of them.
Worked: Titanic(1997) and Moulin Rouge(2001), the first Pirates of the Caribbean(2003) or the Harry Potter series Together with the Lord of the Ring movies some of my all time favs. ❤🎉 I also like Love actually really much from here, an awesome Christmas movie To me there should be an extra Oscar for great entire cast. I could not say who is my fav from LotR for example as everybody did a great Job beginning from Viggo, Elijah, Sean, Orlando, Andy, Christopher, Bernhard, Hugo, Liv, Miranda, Simon, Dominic and Ian until the smallest side role.
I will say which movie that worked for me for casting wise is Big Fish. A very good underrated movie indeed that needed more love more than ever. As for the movie that doesn't work for me is Third Person. I wish that The Oh and Great Liam Neeson should never been a part of that movie at all!
Funny enough, "Valentine's Day" and "Cats" included Taylor Swift in their casts, as did "Amsterdam," another ensemble-cast movie that failed. Having her in your film is a bad omen.
Or maybe the directors just need to make better movies. All three of those movies, she’s barely in. But I love that you’re conveniently leaving out her voice acting in The Lorax, which did very well. So clearly it’s not.
your idea of what constitutes an 'ensemble cast' seems a little confused. No pictures directed by Robert Altman or Woody Allen in the 'Worked'? as for not-worked: HEAT, THE INSIDER; one could almost say the same for THE AGE OF INNOCENCE in that little use was made of the actors billed under the title, and GANGS OF NEW YORK wasn't bothered with any character besides Butcher Bill.
I....I'm not sure that pulp fiction qualifies for a list like this. I mean other than John Travolta, Samuel l Jackson, Uma Thurman, and Bruce Willis. I mean that's pretty much it. Rosanna arquette, Eric Stoltz, Julia Sweeney, Harvey Kietel, Steve Bucemi, Tim Roth, Amanda Plummer, Ving rhames, Phil Lamar..... Arguably, not my opinion. But are not as famous as the others. Especially not in 1994.... I'm pretty damn sure I would wage my life savings and my children's lives that Margaret Cho was in it, too. But I can't find her on the cast lists Kathy Griffin is apparently somehow in it, too. But I don't remember her🤷🏾♂️i would wager that a lot of people didn't know who the other ones were....props for Christopher Walken....
I never watch a movie because of the cast I watch because of the director If a movie spends a fortune with a heavy cast, extravagant wardrobe and exotic locations Then it means that very little was spent to make a decent script

Lucky Number Slevin!

@MsMojo Ocean's 11 was really good! And despite not doing too well with critics, I really liked Smoking Aces and Wanted and their stacked casts.
I think Suicide Squad
I got one that worked: The Avengers (2012). The original six Avengers shine brilliantly because of the great onscreen performances from Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and Jeremy Renner.
He’s Just Not That Into You is a good movie with a phenomenal cast.
Yes, I love that one
No, no it’s not! 🤣
Ocean's 11 was a great movie with a star studded cast.
oooooo a like from MsMojo 🙌🙌🙌
Cats tried to rely solely on starpower and recognizable source material to succeed. It didn't turn out well.
Ocean's Eleven and The Italian Job worked really well!
Snatch (2000) was always one of my favorite ensemble performances
Another ensemble cast that worked was "The Expendables" series. The best film in the series was Part 2.
Considering the oldest movie showcased is from 1994 , perhaps there should be a "classic" ensemble casts list--and maybe it could include the 1989 film "Parenthood".
Worked: Oppenheimer (2023), Failed: Amsterdam (2022) or Babylon (2022).
Ironically, Margot Robbie starred at the last 2 movies.
Worked Sin City (2005) and Failed Movie 43 (2013)
Transformers one has one of the best ensemble performances in movie history with a whose who like Chris hemsworth, scarlet Jo Hanson , Brayan Tyree Henry , Lawrence fishburn , Steve bushemi and Jon ham
Oppenheimer ensemble blows all the others away! Pun intended😊
Even more bizarre is that Suicide Squad also won Oscar and can be called an Oscar winning movie..
Strange things happen!

I love those “Actually Good & Missed the Mark” videos

Worked: "The Grand Budapest Hotel" (2014); Failed: "Borderlands" (2024)
What about the Hercule Poirot movies?
Cats may have a feline cast, but ironically it was a flaming pile of dog poop. 😵💫
It was a visual nightmare. 😖
The remade Ocean’s 11 was amazing! Surprised it didn’t make your list
Worked: Titanic(1997) and Moulin Rouge(2001), the first Pirates of the Caribbean(2003) or the Harry Potter series
Together with the Lord of the Ring movies some of my all time favs. ❤🎉

Worked: Rat Race
Dishonorable mention: the monuments men. Stewie: "I'm goin to bed" Lyle: "yyyeah"
Where's the avengers (2012) is worked success film and justice league (2017) is failed unsuccessful film in ensemble cast members on that list
Happy thursday night, Samantha, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well

Exactly, including The Giver and The Lorax, which had 35% and 56% on Rotten Tomatoes, respectively. It’s not good to have TayTay in your film.
Do the same thing for animated movies
Best The Goonies cast, Stand By Me, Lost Boys, Boomerang and Breakfast Club!
I just knew Movie 43 would be on here

I love Valentine's Day. It's one of my favorites.
I think Cats should have been entirely animated. I bet it would have been much better😁👍
200 Cigarettes. So underrated!
Margot Robbie was fantastic in Suicide Squad though.
Ocean's 11. ❤
the Muppet Movie (1979) Worked and North Failed (1994)

Worked: Tropic thunder
Worked: Wicked (2024), Hotel Transylvania franchise, MCU
worked: Oceans 11; Avengers Endgame.
Uh. You forgot Crashed???
Oceans 11 worked, Amsterdam failed,
Dune, The Dark Knight trilogy
And Tom Hiddleston!
I have a suggestion for video animals that should be eaten shouldn’t be eating
I think the screen play and direction being excellent is really the key. Not really the cast.
I never watch a movie because of the cast
I watch because of the director

Have you seen Oppenheimer? The script is terrific and so is everything else in this blockbuster.

Love, Actually is an overrated movie, it's far from being as good as everyone thinks, one of the worst Christmas movies I've seen
Your opinion on the quality of the movie is a minority one! It’s a holiday classic now.
It is a somewhat good but yet so whatever an Okay Movie for me!
Pulp fiction is not in the same universe as 2019 CATS!
Elijah wood is Frodo, in real life!
And Daniel Radcliffe is Harry Potter!
America just serves up the same crap time again. Do yourself a favour and watch non american, you will find true entertainment.
Like anime, for example. Or better yet, watch any of the movies by Studio Ghibli.
Independent films, regardless of nationality, are where the best stuff is.
