Epic Pike and Shotte is what got me back into wargaming after a long hiatus. Finally, I got my long desired ECW army. Then I grabbed ACW, and should they do a medieval one, say 1066 or Wars of the Roses, i'll be all over that too! I just saw their baggage camp preview. Warlord can just keep taking my money at this point!
It's refreshing to see more miniature companies selling printed models and stls. I also like how simplistic the painting is on most of the Sythopian Wars units. They're not Golden Demon winners, but they're definitely tabletop ready!
I was going to point out the Frazetta influence on that marauder chieftain, but Gerry beat me to it. Not the first time either, that Harbinger of Decay they released about a year ago comes to mind...
I'm really excited for Bolt Action 3rd ed. A few of my friend and I are planning to finish some lingering Army projects for the release in late Sept. My project army is Belgians 😀
Why wait? There're dozens of 6, 10 or 15mm mini manufacturers doing ancients ranges. And almost as many rule sets to cover this period. Mortem et Gloriam is well worth looking into
Very excited for the mini Romans! I'm interested to see Bolt Action 3.0 - not ideal timing for a leak when they are trying to sell their (very good) Panzer game.
Saltue was epic this year and also much busier than last year, which I take as a positive for the contuned existence of the convention. I did see Gerry and Justin interview the guys running the table for the battle of the Yellow Brick Road. Aditionally, great show as always, never stop what you are doing.
The wargames atlantic foot knights look great and I and looking forward to kitbashing with Fireforge, Oathmark and Frostgrave minis. I gather Victrix are also about to launch a knights range including foot knights and mounted knights.
I love the looks of the Sythopian Wars stuff! I had a look and the models gave me an Abes Odyssey vibe. No idea why. The rules being free is very cool but I can't see a way to download them in a single document. Free rules are great but these are really clunky. Edit: there is a buyable pdf version of the rules for £5. Still super cheap. The faction rules are also collated in a document in each faction section of the website.
Def will be buying those Foot Knights, Wargames Atlantic seems to keep getting some very good releases ne after the other. Also, is the only way available to get the Spectre box is thru their own store ? Goos show as always, cheers.
Is Halo really meaningfully different to Deadzone, and will it keep the lisence and stay in production for more than a couple of years? License reskins of games usually aren't worth it.
I agree whole heartedly! I can’t stand segmentum armor and it’s over representation in everything. Also, the Roman Republican era is way more interesting. It is amazing that they focused on this earlier period for sure! 39:18
I liked the Laundry books up to Rhesus Chart. Unfortunately, I read Annihilation Score and immediately decided never to read another one : clearly not my jam nor the direction I wanted the story to take. Readers, be warned.
I'm surprised at how many 'Finally Epic HC' comments there are here. Are people really not aware of the plethora of 6mm, 10mm, and 15mm ancients minis that have been available since the 1970s? shocking!
Totally agree. I’d much rather have 6mm or 10mm scale miniatures on smaller bases (e.g. 20mm frontage stands) so the unit footprints are much smaller. For me the whole point of playing the smaller scales is so you can field 50 or 100 units a side.
@@davidwasilewski that's what baffled me about the "epic" stuff they all still have the same base frontage that they suggest for 28mm so you don't gain any table space for playing and still run into the smash and grind.
@@Gerrcinn agreed. I’d probably have bought some of their epic ranges if they’d been on 20mm frontages. I know some people cut the strips in half and then used green stuff to patch up where they cut. But I thought it was easier just to buy metal figures and glue them onto mdf bases! lol
Bolt Action was one of my "completionist" games. I have all books. I have over 2,000 pt US, and 2500 pt Germans. I have at least that much plastic to assemble and paint. Bolt Action 2nd is very Accessible. I'm concerned Alessio will over simplify the game. At a minimum, my Amies of Books and Rule Book is obsolete (7 books, $250-$300). I see no reason to assemble my Bolt Action models, since I have no idea what I'm building too. What a mess! But will free up time for MESBG, Black Seas, and Paul Hick's Arnhem Heroes.
why not, and hear me out here, just keep playing 2nd if you have everything? There's no reason to change if you don't want/have to. This always baffles me how many people throw the toys out of a pram and say they're going to swap to another game instead of just continuing with what they have.
@Gerrcinn I'm into several miniature games, some also from warlord. I just won't be focusing on Bolt Action for the next several months because I am not a "competition first" player (of any game), I don't automatically assume "new version" = "better", and Lord knows I have a couple years of projects/plastic/resin/metal (included at least 200 Ww2 figs and 20 vehicles; I'm the modeler in my small group, so I build everything) to attend to until I'm able to sort out if version 3 is for me. Ver 2 is already borderline overly simple. MMG/Sniper balance hardly requires a new rulebook. The most glaring current oversimplification is Vehicles, and i don't see Alessio addressing them (single d6 to hit; single turn, etc). So I'm taking a pause. I have every starter fleet for both Black Seas and Victory at Sea to attend to at this time.
Not sure I need a 3rd edition of Bolt Action in my life, but open to be convinced. Hail Caesar 13.5 isn't for me, but maybe Pike and Shotte one day. Salute was brilliant. Catch up again soon.
Can't wait for the Epic Ancient range, especially punic Romans and the opportunity to say, 'does my Onager look big in this'!
Really looking forward to the Hail Caesar epic scale stuff. I think that’s going to be the stuff that tips me over the edge into buying into Ancients
The more of this epic that warlord produce, the less that I can resist it.
Yay, lets play Rome: Total War on the tabletop!
It's refreshing to see more miniature companies selling printed models and stls. I also like how simplistic the painting is on most of the Sythopian Wars units. They're not Golden Demon winners, but they're definitely tabletop ready!
I'm really looking forward to Epic Hail Caesar. I love painting small models!
Most interesting news out of Salute? 2nd edition of Dropfleet Commander later this year and most of the resin going over to plastics.
Looking forward to Hail Caesar, thank you for posting !!!
excited to see more ancient armies from warlord. Replay some Alexander the great battles in a truly epic scale.
Why wait? There're dozens of 6, 10 or 15mm mini manufacturers doing ancients ranges. And almost as many rule sets to cover this period. Mortem et Gloriam is well worth looking into
Fortune & Glory and The Laundry Roleplaying Game look really interesting, just love that Eldritch horror games.
Very excited for the mini Romans! I'm interested to see Bolt Action 3.0 - not ideal timing for a leak when they are trying to sell their (very good) Panzer game.
I always forget it's Friday and then I get a notification for this
The Weekender keeping me entertained as I cut and customise some minis.
Lloyd especially wound up this week.

Welcome back from your holibobs. All that running around the Great Hockley Forest playing paintball (or whatever it was). Missed you guys. 🙂

The wargames atlantic foot knights look great and I and looking forward to kitbashing with Fireforge, Oathmark and Frostgrave minis. I gather Victrix are also about to launch a knights range including foot knights and mounted knights.
That Loki calendar is pure brilliance.
My biggest wish is that this leads to an Alexander the Great Epic Battles.
The weekend starts here!

Very excited to see what changes are coming in the new edition of Bolt Action

Some great reveals from Salute. Yes I like punic wars stuff.
Nice can't wait to see how it all plays out with the hail caesar
dude! this ceaser game looks pretty excellent! not sure about 10mm though i like the idea of the big units not being individuals
I love Wargames Atlantic stuff. The knights look like fun after I finish up my AdlG Ancients.
Fortune and Glory was out of print by the time I heard of it. Definately going to pick this one up.
Very interested in small Hail Caesar.
The epic Romans look great!
Really like the look of Sythopian Wars

The £5 rules is for a printed book and quickplay sheets. If you want a free pdf you can download the Print and Play from the shop.

Goos show as always, cheers.

Hail Caesar looks interesting.
Finally, epic ancient. Maybe one day we'll get epic samurai.

Winner winner, chicken dinner... how's the shed Lloyd?
The "Hail Caesar" legionaries are crammed far too close together. 😮
I liked the Laundry books up to Rhesus Chart. Unfortunately, I read Annihilation Score and immediately decided never to read another one : clearly not my jam nor the direction I wanted the story to take. Readers, be warned.
Look he's had a hair chop and it's looking good. Can't wait for epic. Only an lying thing now is I have to get some 15mm terrain 😂

Is someone slowly appropriating Gerry hair by hair?
Lot of stuff this week
Ya know Lloyd, if you’d let us listen to Ben and Gerry, it would be amazing.
im not sure what is his point in the video. i feel his only contribution is just ramble. never information that is interesting. just random ramble.
WEEKENDER
WEEKENDER TIME
My poor achin' wallet.
Nice one :)
