    Super solid paint job and great video. Love seeing the techniques at play on these 15mm models

    Great vid, the celt sprue definitely looks great. Something that might be good would be a side by side shot of what the models look like at the "good enough" stage and then after the extra steps/highlights.

    Never played warlord's Hail Caesar. Watching you paint these makes me want to spend my money! They look great. So much variation with each individual. Kudos for not wanting to give up and slap the same colour down, haha!

    Pretty sure drybrushing will work well for those of us who don't have an airbrush :)

    Great tutorial, interesting timing as I was for some reason thinking this morning how universal a flesh tone primer would be, I've been using grey for years at this point and generally works fine but warmer colours often need multiple layers which I reckon could be fixed with a flesh tone

      Some of the upcoming ColourForge ‘Peachy Tips’ flesh coloured cans might be perfect.

    Excellent tutorial Stuart. Truth is i enjoy the painting more than the gaming and so this video was really good to stimulate new ideas/approaches. The figures will be fun to paint as 5 colors of Union infantry gets boring quickly and these look as though we can all let our color palette run wild. We have be patient and wait another 4 weeks to get our hands on these. Mine are all pre ordered from WLG and instead of the huge bundles I simply went with the three basic boxes; allied;Roman and Carthaginian. Thanks for doing the video. Paul

    Thanks Stu, they really pop. What is your view on varnish for these? I use mat, but it kills the metals, I know one you tuber uses satin for smaller scales to keep the pop.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  2 місяці тому

      Personally I’m not a huge fan of varnishing my own plastic models, but then again they don’t see heavy use, and I handle the by the bases. If I do varnish I’d often to that before the metals, solves the problem of dulling the metals, and metallic paints tend to be more durable.
      Metal minis are a different story, you have to varnish if you intend to game with them really, but I often do it half way through and before the final highlights.

    How do these scale to the battle for 5 armies stuff. These Celts painted differently could be Dunlendings or men of Mirkwood.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  2 місяці тому +1

      Sadly they’re way too big, these are pretty much 15mm, BOFA is 10mm.

    Hi Stu. I keep getting people telling me that I need a whole paint booth and respirator for airbrushing. Are they thinking of car painting when they look up the dangers of airbrushing or are there such significant health hazards? You are not even brushing into a box. No idea if you have a respirator or mask on. Is it necessary for such a light amount of paint?
    Thanks!

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  2 місяці тому

      I’d definitely say you need a mask/respirator, it’s really not safe to do large amounts of airbrushing without. The paint booth/box thing is a little different, I’m filming there purely to demonstrate, probably 5 mins in total, and I have enough control to not cover my desk in paint. If I’m doing large batches, painting large models I do use a box to protect my area from overspray. I make sure the room is well ventilated and I’m not doing it with family/pets around as well.
      If you want to start airbrushing I’d recommend the whole kit, it’s definitely the best option. If the booth is too much of an outlay at first a mask is still a must if you’re airbrushing for long periods.

    What brown contrast do you use for your epic ACW rifles? Would love to see more epic ACW btw ;)

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  7 днів тому +1

      I used a few different browns for different jobs with the Epic ACW stuff. Cygor, Wyldwood, Gore-Grunta, Snakebite.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  7 днів тому +1

      They’re all different colours, they have different uses, so hard to choose the ‘best’. Depends on what you’d want to use it for really.

    Slightly confused by the Games Workshop name for these figures. Gallic refers to the Gauls.. ancient French tribe. Celts were/are not French at all - Scots/Irish/Welsh/ Northern English.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  Місяць тому

      I’m not sure if I’m honest, Ancients is my weakest prior by I long shot. I gather they are pretty generic, so maybe the name is meant to reflect that for futures releases.

    • @KhartoumMaxim
      @KhartoumMaxim 16 днів тому +1

      Gauls were a Celtic people, Gallic is the language they spoke. They had the same/similar dress, religion and cultural factors as those in Britain.
