🚨 About us 🚨
This is a channel where beginners can learn along with me, how to cook and use a pellet grill and a Blackstone Griddle. Learning how to season meats and knowing how to properly cook on a pellet grill and blackstone griddle.
I have never used a pellet grill or a blackstone griddle, but together we will learn as we go. I hope you enjoy my videos.
I get auger fires, more regularly than I care to admit. For me, traeger with pellet pro pid, I just turn on the feed to push the pellets into the fire pot, stopping the fire in the auger tunnel. No need to stop your cook. You just have to monitor for a temp swing. Happy smoking!
They should've added a primer button to push the burn stuff out
I have a pit boss and my hopper has done this twice during the shut down process. And both times I immediately emptied the hopper and turn the smoker back on to empty out the pellets still left in the auger
Same! Scared the crap out of me when it happened
Thanks for the advice. I’ve only been smoking less than a year and didn’t know what to do when my smoker kept smoking heavily after I was finished. Awesome advice!!
I’m glad I can help
This video is great. It’s nice to know what to do when a situation like this happens. Great job bud.
Thank you. I’m here to help out any way I can.
This is the kind of videos I like to see. Helps me out a lot if this would ever happen to my grill.
Thank you. I really appreciate that
Mine was smoking so bad right now, the fire helicopter just did 2 water drops over my back yard! 😂 thanks for the tip! (I know, that’s what she said)
The reason for smoke coming out of the hopper is too much pressure in the grill. Or said in another way, not enough air flow in the grill. When that happens the fire goes towards the easiest way out.... the hopper. If your hopper is sealed well. Maybe even a gasket on the lid it would cut down on these issues.
I would be willing to bet the protective tin foil helps cut the air flow.
I cut slits in mine to match the drip pan. This gives you the same air flow and protect the drip pan.
This is cool RJ. Another reason I enjoy your channel. I see that happens often with pellet smokers so great video to show the safe way to take care of it. ✌️
Thank you. I like to give people way of fixing some issues that might come up.
I don’t really understand what he did other than take the pellets out and clean it , I keep my clean and it still smokes thru the hopper , not a lot but just when it starts after 30 minutes it quits, any ideas?😊
If u don’t blow the dust out of the auger tube it will do it again soon probably the next time u cook.
Just happened todays saw your video doing everything you said now went from high heat to shutdown mode then saw the smoke and freaked out maybe because of that or idk if its from using pitboss pellets on a traeger
thank you
You're welcome
Oh man haven’t run into that yet thankfully but great video always looking out 👍🏼
I’ve seen post of people talking about this on there grills. I’ve seen this issue with pit boss, traeger grill. It happens.
I bought the 1000D3E the second use this happened in mid-cook. Not sure if it was this machine or if the power outage caused it I had a power outage happen. It lost power.
I had to power it back on and power it back on in smoke mode then the smoke starting coming out of the pellet hopper. I put it in shut down mode.
Cool video. Some good knowledge to have for when I do get one👊🏻✌🏻
Can’t wait to see it in your channel.
@@BeginnersBBQ one day brother
You don’t need to empty the hoper in order to achieve the same result brotha just push the button until the burning pallets are out.
Thank you
Glad I can help out.
Great, I got the cheap model with no trap door
Nooooooo Ryan say it ain’t so. Lol. It’s all good. Just scoop them out. 😎
@@BeginnersBBQ yeah I got the 6002b. It also came with a 25°+/- variance in temp
@@ryanschneider5710 oh wow. How long have you had it for?
@@BeginnersBBQ about a week
@@ryanschneider5710 oh wow you just got it. How is it so far?
Man this is good to know. Great video.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Just figured out mine, it was the chimney, totally packed off with soot, cleaned it off and now the air has a place to go besides back up into the pellet box
mines a cheapo zgrill the fire creeped into the shaft cause my auger motor died
What to do is easy to figure out. Trying to find out why it happened so I can prevent it from happening again.
Just clean the fire pot more often.
@BeginnersBBQ it was throughly vacuumed out before using. This was only the 3rd time using it. Strange. I have an Oaklahoma joes that went out on me that's only 2 years old and I just bought this one from home depot. It's an Even Embers.
@@guitarsrcool4922 wow I’ve had my traeger grill for 4 years and never had an issue with the hopper catching on fire.
@BeginnersBBQ it's very much an anomaly since I can't really find much info about why it happened although I think I read something about pellet dust catching on fire. I guess they mean the dust forming like a fuse through the auger to the hopper. I was really frustrated at the time I replied to your video because it had just happened. Maybe the pellets were a little old. I dumped them since there's little else I can do. Maybe that makes a difference. Thanks for trying to help. Appreciate it.
Great heads up thanks
Your welcome. I’m glad you liked it.
Because it’s a ZGrills lol. Just kidding. Happy Friday bro !
🤣😂😎 so far it’s been a solid grill. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have great weekend
So basically what your telling me is if my hopper is smoking, I need to get up off my a$$# and clean it. I knew that..lololol
😂🤣
Is there not a measurement guide for how many cups of pellets are needed for certain amounts of food??
No
Give it up im sorry go back to the weber kettle this is the best grill
This just happened to me....I just started shooting it hoping it would stop. Eventually it did....but now I need to purchase another one.
So it's caused by ash buildup
It’s hard to say. I have had my traeger for 4 years and this never happened. I would say just make sure you clean the ash every other cook.
@@BeginnersBBQ I actually just cleaned mine after almost 2 years. The backsmoke was getting really bad. Turns out the burn chamber was mostly clogged up with ash and debris.
@@gtarbmx oh wow it’s been a while. Yea you got to clean it every 3 cooks.
If you unplug it it should stop immediately
That’s is true. Thanks for stopping by.
Im 3 hours in to my smoke...
My hopper is smoking bad
1st step?
Does it have a feed button for the pellets?
If it has a button to feed pellet push and hold the button. That way it can push the fire out of the auger
@BeginnersBBQ its a Lexington and yes it has a prime button?
@@NRB_75 yes that’s the one. Press and hold that button and it should start pushing the fire out.
@BeginnersBBQ ok i held it for like 10 sec...
