- Below are the initial startup processes:
1. Plug into power supply (240V AC);
2. Turn the switch On (It will flash for 3 times);
3. Turn to SMOKE setting (You will find the auger is slowly turning);
4. Feel for air flow into the fire-pot;
5. Add pellets into the hopper;
6. After that, turn to HIGH setting (The auger will frequently push pellets to that pot, usually take 10 mins);
7. Turn to SMOKE gain when there are pellets dropping into the fire-pot;
8. Once flame appears, turn to Shutdown cycle (The auger will stop feeding pellets);
9. Turn switch Off when the fan stopped working (It’s very important step, otherwise you will get he hopper fire);
Burn-in Procedure
It’s easy to operate after the initial startup.
Turn Switch On and turn to SMOKE setting, when there is a little smoke out, you can turn to HIGH mode, waiting for 45 mins, then turn to Shutdown cycle until the grill itself off, plus the fan stops running.

This is the best video for this product. I just bought mine yesterday. I'm confident in using it now. First time for me with a would pellet grill. Thank you! The accent helps also. When everyone else says hopper it sounds dumb but this guy makes it sound cool.
Thanks for this. I was a little confused by the description in the manual.
THANK YOU FOR EXPLAINING WHYYYY certain steps are important. I feel that is a huge thing missing from most instructions.
Thank you so much. I just smoked the most tender, delicious rack of ribs I have ever done with this smoker - my first time using it. And I didn’t even drink any beer at any point during the process!
Thank you so much! This is so much simpler than the way the manual lays it out.
fantastic video. my smoker arrives in a few days. I also was confused by the contradictions in the manual, and the intended separation of steps in the process. This was easy to follow along with.
Man instructions are good but a video is great. Appreciate it. Just got mine today going through this process now. Super hype.
Thank you. The manual was confusing AF.
Thank you
ok, smoker... would recommend Traeger especially for Customer Experience. I had paint bubbles shrugged off by Z Grills customer service, leaking grease from poor seam welds, and the temperature can fluctuate 20 plus degrees from selected temp and external temp probes. Customer service pushed my concerns with so many "try this" or "see if it continues, when you...." finally the warranty ran out and that was the last excuse they needed.
We're so sorry to hear that this was your experience. We certainly understand your concerns with that, and we'd be glad to help in any way we can from here. Please kindly email us at support@zgrills.com with your oder number and email address, and we’ll see what best we can do to fix this. Thanks.
I'm confused. He talks about the initial startup, and the burn in (which, wouldn't that be part of the initial startup?) but how do you do subsequent startups? I just got this grill and I hope the quality is better than the instructions they give.
What if you didn’t do it like that now it won’t turn on?
Do u have to do this step ever time u plan to cook ??
A thorough clean is a prerequisite for hassle-free cooking.
my auger doesnt turn... why.. brand new.... ???!!!
Having the same problem, no auger movement at all. Any solution?
@@smith2sc apparently you gotta take it apart to giggle the auger then put it back together... not ideal...
I just poke the auger with a tongs through the rack and it started spinning, at first I was pissed though lol

Threw me a curve when it shows plugging into a 240V AC outlet, truly excited me in thinking I made a huge investigation effort on these grill!! Why would you profess 240V AC? Not at all impressed at the very first of your video!
