That’s been the one thing stopping me from buying a pellet grill. I was scared I couldn’t sear my steak. But now that I know it can I don’t have any more excuses. Time to get a pellet grill. Thanks for the helpful info!

Well, I finally got my pellet grill/smoker. My buddy had just bought a pitboss laredo 1000 platinum and his wife didn’t like it. What!!? Sold it to me with a cover and 40 pounds of pellets for $100. Couldn’t pass it up. Going to do a pork butt Sunday. 🤞🏻

That was flawless! Depending on your grill's design you can sear without removing the layers IF you have a gap around the edge of the plates. The heat is really hot there and you can position your steak on that spot to sear.

love the fact you dropped some tips in there like dont use table salt , the fact that thicker steaks are more forgiving etc etc including voiding your warranty. Here is sommat, try using Celsius as well as Fahrenheit half your audience is from Europe ... also try getting a Dexter Piece of steak to work with I dont know if you can get it over there but it tastes awesome, its a dwarf breed of cow from Ireland ...

Steak on a pellet grill is really really good. Despite the amazing results one will encounter it’s also really inefficient. Removing the heat baffles are the way to achieve a bark like any authentic bbq experience will display.

To have to take your grill apart just to sear a steak is insane. Seems to me to be a flaw of the Z grill -- doesn't get hot enough. ... Their 600 series grills get to 750 degrees, but their 700 series grills do not. Makes no sense to me.
