    Perfect explanation. Completely agree that the path has to come first. I tried the grip and wrist combo without changing swing path a couple years ago and it caused a crazy snap hook lol. Swinging left with a strong grip and wrist bent in made it go crazy left.

    Just incase the twisting the grip cue doesn’t work for someone I think of extending my right wrist and pretty much the same happens. It’s just easier for me to focus on one thing. I also like to place a tee diagnal to the right of the golf ball and imagine I’m trying to hit through the golf ball and hit the tee. Obviously I wouldn’t hit the tee because the length of my arms bottom out at the ball but for some reason that’s gotten me hitting balls straighter and farther than ever! Everything in this video is exactly what you need if you’re a major slicer. Skills take a long time to master, don’t give up!!!

      Elbow in is important but it’s not enough for me. I slice over 75 yards with my driver. My issue is the wrist, the path, and not opening my body. I hit 100 yard (to the right) slices today. It’s so far off center that it’s kind of impressive. I hate it. I practically hit a 90-degree ball

    People have been selling this path crap for hooks and slices for at least 60 years. And corrections never work. A slice is primarily the result of the newer player who does not understand that you must never open up the clubface in the first place during the swing. They also usually have left wrist breakdown at the top which opens the clubface. This is something a new golfer learns as they play the game. They naturally get a :"stronger" swing. A shortcut band-aid is to PRONATE (rotate) the club closed as the clubhead nears impact. While this is not a fix, it provides the concept of what has to be done and that is..... NEVER OPEN THE DAMNED THING UP IN THE FIRST PLACE. This idea of pronating at the bottom to learn what the problem is actually came to me from a pretty good pro. But.... when you show this to people on the range, 100 percent of them go back to their old open clubface swing within 5 minutes. And that is why it takes so long to get rid of your slice. Some to even most of them never do. You cannot cure a slice until you stop opening the clubface on the backswing. When you finally do, it just shows that you are getting to be a better player. Next thing is a hook will be your problem and better players think this is even worse. You can't win....

      Fixing my club path and starting my grip with the face slightly closed absolutely changed how I hit the ball.

    • @mesillahills
      @mesillahills Місяць тому

      @@mightymoose4577 While that strong grip thing will work it is not necessarily recommended. It can and mostly likely will eventually lead to an incontrollable hook. People who use a strong grip need a very aggressive twist through the ball to avoid that hook. David Duvall used that all his life. A really strong turn through the ball. He said he did that for distance as a kid. Few people do that but it can be done. Better players do not use that kind of a grip just because of the hook thing. When you start hooking go back to a weaker grip.

      If you were a near-single-digit handicap golfer, you wouldn't be on youtube trying to fix your slice.
      Golfers are the most overconfident people on the planet. In no other hobby/sport will you find people who think they're so much better than they really are. My guess is that the vast majority of golfers never played a real sport and were coddled their entire lives. They never received a reality check in the form of getting knocked clear off their feet in an actual sport and they never actually compete. Their frame of reference for "greatness" is non-existent, therefore they have this false sense of superiority.

    I know when I slice its because of missing the driver face an inch or more farther away from the center face. Simple. I address an inch or so closer, so upon swinging Im shorter and hit dead center. Very simple.

    • @markweaks2239
      @markweaks2239 5 місяців тому

      @@gregsomething2963 A slice can mostly come from a hit nearer the toe of the driver, the curved driver face spins it to slice. A center hit goes straighter, cos its a flat surface. I saw a PGA Tour Pro Tee up this way- at address, his Driver shaft/hosel was at the ball, so sweet spot/ center face was long out from the ball about 1 or 2 inches. Because the actual swing you shorten your reach, striking dead center of drive face, no more slice! Works for me too.

    None of these so called fixes work. Think of the fairway as a clock, 12:00 is down the middle. Now aim your drive at 12:00 and if your slice winds up at 3:00 all the time then don't change anything. Just start aiming your drives at 9:00 and they will wind up at 12:00 down the middle. I am 75 and I do this on every driving hole. I am a 15 handicap and I love the game.
