So a quick note from me, i was wrong when talking about the course creator, you can place props down when making races (i just hadn't found the option at the time of recording). It is a bit fiddley to do but it can be done which does open up a load of possibilities in terms of custom races even if we can't place start lines as of yet.
Neat, look forward to seeing those custom races. On a side note do you publish tunes? I'm a rather rubbish tuner myself and its hard to find good tunes. And unfortunately Forza did not carry over our followed tuners. Although did find a rally S1 Ford GT tune that is literally good at everything by chance
Forza: adds convertible versions of existing cars as DLC in FH4 Also Forza: doesn’t add those same cars back to the game where convertibles actually work
i tried a s2000 and a nd mx5 and with the s2000 you can take of the hardtop in forzavista but it puts it back on after you leave it and the mx5 just straight up doesn't work
One thing I have always found frustrating about Forza in general, but kinda moreso in Horizon, is that how you can take a car and build it to such a wide variety of specs, be it based on real world disciplines or ones of your own creation, and you can get so realistic with them, but then you go up against AI in a generic "Retro Rally" group, or "Super Hot Hatch" group. Would love to be able to dictate drivetrain, horsepower caps, as well as car types and years and such. On the surface FM7 appears to offer this, but you can't mix the options that much. And when you can it didn't "build" cars, just picks from the base selection. Horizon AI builds cars SO well, yet there is no way to be specific in what specs they can be.
In Motorsport 4, you could use private online lobbies to forcibly assign AI drivers specific cars. Would be nice if newer racers in general gave similar functionality, I don't care if the races you host against yourself give no reward whatsoever I just wanna drive against a whole assortment of cars balanced against each other, and only each other!
Since I always build "realistically" ( basically NEVER do AWD swaps or even swap engine; if a car can't reach A class with it's base engine it is just not meant to be A class in my mind) I don't suffer from that, EXCEPT the odd choices like "Rares" (whatever the full name is) where obvious Classic Racers like the Cobra (my favorite car in FH4) and both e-types end up instead of in Classic Racers where they belong.
@@beardedgeek973 I can sort of see your point about engine swaps from a 'purity' point of view, except that a Cobra is basically an engine swapped AC Ace. (Take small British sports-car and add a massive American V8 = Cobra) So if it's ok (hell, in the Cobra's case, a bloody excellent idea) in real life, why avoid it in game?
one thing im sad to see back is that all of the events scale the AI cars to your car. it makes it so there is zero challenge to any of the events as it dont matter if i have 5 bhp or 5000 the AI just scale to me and are easy to beat even on higher difficulty. makes the car rating system redundant it would be alot more fun if u had to mod a car and find good setups to beat events with rating restrictions in stead of turning up in any car and everything being on your level
I agree with you, I also really don't like when you have a supercar and a heavy weight cars meant for off road easily overtake you, that for me is ridiculous, even the most unrealistic game doesn't make that mistake but FH4 does, I guess it's the same for FH5. That kind of AI scaling is even worse for me, that or when at the race start the truck go faster than your supercar, this is mind blowing, that is another level of realism, vice city is more realistic than that.
@@MrManiac360 I know this isn't quite what you're talking about, but in real life rally cars do have a faster 0-60 time than formula 1 cars. Obviously the f1 cars top out way faster.
@@SentinelxPrime Talking about SUV/truck vs a super car like a Lamborghini or Mclaren. Best SUV will never match a super car no matter how overpowered it is. Not talking about rally but rally shouldn't match super cars on speed too, but you are right that rally do have better acceleration.
11:53 - I realized yesterday how great that addition is. You can hear the difference the engine upgrades will make before you buy them. Several parts change the sound in varying ways. I opted to keep certain parts below maximum because I like the sound better with those parts. Sometimes too high pitch can be grating. Frees up points to use elsewhere too.
This game is everything forza horizon 4 should have been. Everything is faster and streamlined. Looks great and runs great on pc. Once they fix the disconnecting ill be happy with it.
@@henryrowe7955 This is so bad though. Like horizon life doesnt work at all. I am noticing a lot of problems that have carried over from horizon 4 and its a little disappointing

Yep on Colossus drivatars catch up to you in 2 parts of the track no matter what you do and then harass you for a while then just give up again. Also if you drift while still actually going fast it's like you are reeling the computer in even if they are in a hairpin and you are further ahead in a fast curve they just start to ZOOOM faster because your tires are slipping... It's so stupid I wonder if I should feel offended by the devs. There is a track I can only beat the drivatar on highly skilled if I manage to ram them bad during the first lap forgot the name, but I hate that game makes me drive like that.
We needed offline ai convoy cars to accompany you in free roam, picked by you from your garage. Race opponent selection from garage cars too so we can make matching grids using the liveries for racing and photos. Multicar garages/more than one car in forzavista…
So they gave me a free car voucher, i dont know how they expected me to use it, but i used it to buy the most expensive car in the game cause i aint gonna pay 30mil for a shelby daytona. Im really enjoying the game, and unlike other franchises, i think that this games was done in such a way that will keep fh4 a relevant game for several more years just for a change in scenery
I’d still wish they just let us buy the Forzathon and Seasonal Cars, some of us don’t want to do the stupid challenges just to get a Mini, when it could easily just be out in the auto show on release
Imo this game is just so much more fun to play when casually driving about compared to fh4. So much more refreshing going from biome to biome rather than country side to more country side and with the addition of the off-road race tyres you can drive any car you want cross country
Not impressed about the volcano... was made to expect blizzards and snow, there's barely any snow and definitely no blizzards so much for the "extreme weather" also NPC cars appearing and disappearing on a whim most of the time them deciding not to join the fun is disgustingly bad quality programming as is the game's netcode.
Seeing this and comparing it to Horizons 3 and 4, I end up wondering why there's not just one giant Forza Horizon World with a new map-pack in place of each game. Flight simulators do it somewhat regularly to great effect, and what is Horizon if not an open world flight simulator minus flight? I guess licensing would get in the way of it - except I'm not even sure about that much, Gran Turismo's been taking the route of nursing one game for a decade ever since GT5.
I'm sure, down the road, that may become more feasible but at this stage, the game is a franchise so its gonna be a while until that. Even so, if they did do that, it wouldn't please many or everyone at least.
The main thing will definitely be game size With Forza Horizon 3,4 and 5 very much scraping the 100Gb mark each, yeah, you image those map-packs and the overall game size, while assets and especially cars are definitely shared, I bet it would still end up with 200+Gb Than there's the graphical fidelity, seing as this is a big selling point for Forza games, it would be hard to top the previous game when they can't craft each Version on its own
@Derpy 1109 - Euro Truck Sim 2 and American Truck Sim are another 2 cases in point. SCS Software (makers of ETS2 & ATS) haven't bothered with releasing an ETS3 or ATS2 so far - they haven't needed to, because they add new (and excellent) maps to both games on a fairly regular basis, plus revamping the older maps from time to time. And it works a treat! :D I've been playing them both since they were first released. Both games are almost a decade old, but the devs do a bang-up job of keeping ETS2 & ATS fresh with the new maps. Adding new trucks occasionally is also a big help, as is the countless number of community-made mods available :)
I unlocked the Goliath last night and thought I'd give it a go. What I didn't realise is that the game places blueprints tabs on top of the actual race. I clicked on the tab without paying much attention to it and found myself doing five laps of the Goliath (i.e., about 270km), 1-v-1, over the space of an hour+ in my (modded) Supra. A lap took me about 14½ minutes or so, and I clung to the corners all of the way to hold off a very pesky McLaren GT.
True they've upped their sound game, but it's still not realistic enough to satisfy the hype imo... check out my summer car being such a low budget game just developed by a small developer, they've got the datsun 100a sound almost perfectly, and fh5 they couldn't get the hellcat engine sound correctly, same case with the iconic supercharger whine, also every supercar has this whine when they speed up as if every supercar is some sorta track built race car/ rally car... this is my personal opinion however, and I do admit they did a better job than fh4.
also some may argue the whine in the supercars at higher speeds could be a turbo whistle... but check and lmk if a hybrid na 3 cyl bmw i8 has a turbo..... and also the 3cyl sounds you hear in game is like the fake noise played through the cars speakers irl...
@@adrianstephan4011 i dont really think thats a valid comparison considering there are only a couple of drivable vehicles in MSC, and even then the hayosiko still sounds garbage. with the sheer amount of cars in FH5 of course some are gonna sound a bit better than others. plus, the game isnt even out yet so maybe we'll get some more sound updates as time goes on
I haven't bought horizon since 3, I guess I just got burned out with the car list and the lack of any major changes that would bring me back to the franchise. I bought the game and mostly agree but only because I don't have a powerful enough rig to make the most of the new graphics. The new engine sounds are much better though
It 100% looks better than Forza Horizon 4, no doubt and the performance jump is huge for a console It's just something a UA-cam video can't really show you, especially when most likely being watched a Phone and it's best experienced in person on an XBox Series X or a powerful PC
got burned once expecting something really special and went for the full on one with all the toppings with horizon 4, only for that game to take a year and a half to sort out its issues, and I'm not falling for that again. and they still havent made a game as fun as Horizon 2 yet that I can see where rear wheel drive cars could stick it to the 4 wheeled ones if you built them right. let alone those sounds, like the sounds for the xbox 360 version of horizon 2 were perfect as it was made by the people who made test drive overdrive 2002 and after playing that game so much I thought you know if this is what the sideline horizon games are like, what are the full ones like, big mistake, they suck compaired to that like they didnt even separate it so you could play the games separate from the races in the online thing so you could have set cars for games, and set cars for races as that was so much fun, given both the racing and the games were great in horizon 2, then, the racing sucked in 3 as everything had to be 4 wheel drive to compete but if you did that you could still have fun they did that stupid team crap with 4 that ruined the games like their is no team in fun, stop trying to force it, and let us have our fun, and for god sakes nerf the 4 wheel drive cars by adding 600 pounds of weight to each one, as that's what happens when you stick 4 wheel drive to a car, it turns it into a very fast brick lol and stop giving 4 wheel drive to the AI cars on higher difficulty to make up for your crappy AI that rightly deserves my nickname the driving retards! and it wouldnt be so bad if they didnt delist, hide and then discourage people from playing their better older games like they do especially given it took them a year and a half to make forza horizon 4 decent, only for it probably due to get delisted like a half a year out from now, like the only way I'm buying this game is a year on at 30 bucks or so when the things been sorted. as man do they suck at making good games now, hell even with some of the models of the gta remasters looking abit off, I'm probably gonna buy that day 1 as I know the games are good and it'll be great not to see gta SA look like ass for once, as great game, terrible terrible graphics, the worst in the series as they just stretched it too far lol which I cant say for horizon, quite the opposite infact, as I've never had as much fun with horizon as I did with that xbox 360 one

They lost a lot of licences for body kits and although that is upsetting, the game feels great, cars finally sound great, looks great, and the roads are 90 leagues better than horizon 2, 3 and 4 combined. The volcano is even a good successor to fujimi.
It’s a fun game, but it still drives me insane that Forza still uses pretty much the same selection of wheels and only one option for a race rear wing that looks kind of cheap on nearly all the cars. Even in NFS Underground 2 I could modify the multiple styles of wings available for the car
Whats your opinion on the COMPLETE lack of new cars? Like 2020/21/22 models? From ALL manufacturers? The new Merc AMG's? Any Audi's after about 2016?, ANY of the new BMW's?, ANY of the new Ferrarris from the last 2-3 years??, ANY of the new Lambos, , ANY of the new Mclarens, ANY of the newer Japanese manufacturer cars (GR Yaris, GR86, 400z, Nismo cars, Mazda 3 Turbo, New WRX), ANY new Porsches (new GT3, GT4, GT4 RS, 911 Turbo, GT3 Touring etc etc), ANYTHING from VW after 2014? I mean... seriously. We get the Bronco and a Supra that's actually a BMW. I dont get it.
Glad you were able to enjoy it. I seem to be in the 70% (+) of PC players that can't get the stupid game to run. Developers' advice is to disable all security, all anti-virus, reinstall C++ libraries, reset the game (how? it isn't playable), disable all firewalls, and launch from the executable, not a shortcut or 3rd party application. Yea... I'm going to disable all security and re-update my up-to-date system, just because you can't build a game to run on hardware beyond "recommended requirements". Garbage game, launched too early. It might be a good game. But if it won't run on the systems it was designed for, it is crap.
I believe that Developers advice is star trek technobable for we suck at game development and should really hire the people who did the xbox 360 port of Horizon 2 to make our games fun again lol
forza isn't the kind of game you can hope to play at release unless lucky, FH4 9 month after launch I had issues like it was game release, full of bugs, last time I installed the game was the steam release it was the worse release I ever try, couldn't make the game work even a week trying hard to, I could barely play 1 hours then crash and they didn't even include the wheels drivers in it, not that it used to work perfectly either but at least you could try to stay on the road and pretend you could play with it like with a controller. From what I gathered the Nvidia card had better luck running the game.
I had a hard time getting it to stop crashing on my system. In the end it turned out that it will not run if you have Nahimic software for Realtek onboard sound. I disabled that service and have run 24 straight hours with no crashing anymore. No idea what your sound set-up is but well worth checking. Oh and the Toyota Supra 2020 (one of the first 3 cars given to you in the game) instantly crashes some systems, so avoid that too. PGG and Turn 10 are aware of these issues. Both of them.
@@Episode_13 What ?? Thank god there is one TD coming soon … I’m a bit tired of the recycled stuff Playground Games is serving and there is many, many things they could have added in this game but they didn’t . I.E : Whipers, blinkers, lights on/off, clothing stores (they wanted to copy TDU might as well do it fully …), changing FOV, be able to look around in the cockpit a bit more, new cars ffs, we got like 20 new cars that were never seen before in a brand new car game … Think about all the cars that got released since 2020 … That’s really disappointing even if they planned dlcs or events to win new cars or even an update with a bunch of free cars, they should have been in the autoshow since day 1 . The licenses shouldn’t be a problem for them they’re loaded … Instead of that they focused all these years on the map . And thankfully the map is good but don’t tell me that it took them 4 years to build that and a bit of story lol …
I only hate the motion blur happening at higher speeds - maybe realistic, but can cause nausea for many, as it's not as immersive as real life fast driving... Could it be turned of for the audience's health? :/
For me on the last video, even at slow speeds. It was the city/buildings that just turned to instant blur. I don't mind it myself but it looked way overdone. This video looks absolutely fine though... Strange
Settings as such only appear to be able to be changed by players on PC platform, consoles have this more often sadly. Can't prioritize the kind of game performance you want in depth.
@@flyingtentacle7631 Have you ever seen a taken picture while swinging the camera, genius. Motion blur exist in real life and you can't disable motion blur in real life.
The thing that made 4 that little bit more special for me was Edinburgh. I drove and recognized many of those those streets, so that really made it more fun for me. I don’t have that in 5, so it makes it feel more like 3 in that respect. Not a negative such, it just personally makes a difference. So far my my issue with the game, playing on Series S, is it’s quite buggy. Game changes instantly from day to night, and back again. Disconnects a LOT, voice overs seem to play and stop mid sentence. Little stuff Ike that I’m sure they will fix. It’s a very good game, and I’d bet over time will even improve and fill out more.
I just got done with my first play session, coming from playing need for speed and gran turismo growing up and this being the first forza game I've ever played I really really like this game
Something that has bothered me and I'm wondering if it's still a thing is if AI difficulty still has a direct correlation to your pole position... Setting to advanced AI and then being defaulted to always start in p7 is incredibly frustrating.
Yeah, still there. I just figured it's part of the difficulty setting, tourists start at the front ahead of drivatars whose driving slows rapidly, while on unbeatable drivatars start infront and maintain their skill level throughout the race. If you want to start in front, create your own track and make the driving line take a short detour off to the side before returning to the course for the first checkpoint.
I've seen a few videos in which Alex's driver displayed the Archer emote on the winner's stage. It was interesting to see him acquire it months earlier in this video.
In FH4 the full off road circuits/races were tthe Trail ones, the ones labeled dirt were more rallycross style with mixed surface. i'm assuming FH5 will be the same
fh5 has propper offroad parts that arent 20 meter wide gravel roads like in fh4, fh4's roads kinda sucked offroad, but in fh5 it feels so much nicer and theres different types of offroad too like mud, dirt, gravel, broken asphalt etc
All I want now is just the ability to put stickers on the windows and to be able to have different wheels on the back and the front..... Can't be that hard for them to add, I know lots of other people want the same
I have this on the PC and I can confirm you can modify the motion blur... I have had a couple of hours with this today and I am finding it a lot of fun so far... still digging with a hell of a lot more to go... and I am looking forward to doing so...
Refreshing to see a straight no nonsense review with good gameplay to match I have got fed up of every car UA-camr (and those who clearly aren’t) who are sponsored or have gotten early access saying it’s the next best thing since sliced bread or just being plain ignorant and misinforming the audience. Rant aside thank you for the great review I’m now looking forward to playing.
Good to see I'm not the only one noticing the fake reviews, it's getting insane on youtube, did you noticed the comment on fake reviews? insanely positive. I'm tired of this shit, someone got to speak up about this, it's getting way too much.
To help with getting out of a brake lockup, other than keeping the wheel straight and braking harder until you can regain traction, the biggest thing you can do is modulate the gas back on and off with the brakes being modulated as well. You can just start to feel it out. It still happens to me a lot though, but that definitely helps.
Noticed they cut the subaru legacy rs which is a car I own in real life which sucks but im sure itll be back in dlc which doesn't bother me. Hyped to play this when it releases properly !
Although I think you are correct about the wheel spins.... in my first 20 I received 9 articles of clothing, 6 horns, 4 emotes and 1 GMC Ventura lol. I guess it can only get better from here!
The motion blur thing is a pain visually to watch, less so I think when you are driving. It does make the video look a little odd from time to time. As for the game itself, I would say that there is plenty of potential here for you and the Failrace crew to make some great videos, the sense of speed here is good and the variety of cars and engines / drivetrains should make for a very good mix. Overall, a good content creator release!
As i was exploring the map i just kept thoinking of failrace and how much better it is for his gamemodes in the city and towns plenty of alleys to duck into and plenty of hidey spots youll easily miss if your not paying attention thick brush and large mountains and dunes to creep around but also making the direct aproach not always viable forcing you to stick to the roads... it seems like they actually tried on this map compared to horizon 4
I agree with you on how slick tyred cars behave when they touch the grass, you had way too much grip in that Merc when you came off the road. Almost looks like a bug
if you find any ways to share with "us" your adventure races that could be quite popular and fun for us. no pressure - your content is a lot of fun to follow. and if the timing was right there are was we can join... that all illusive time tho huh. keep up yjr great work and thanks
Apparently you can Gift some cars at the barn find locations, to new users and returning users.... So you might be able to get rid of duplicates there 🤷♂️
it would be nice if they combined the foto colection thing from fh4 and the car collection from fh5 so u can have ur own pictures of the cars in the collection screen
I'm loving it so far, just a couple things from me: - There's a bug were the wheel keeps disconnecting (hopefully should be fixed soon) - The AI are impossible (I've been playing for 4 years and I legit had to turn it down to Above Average to be able to win. I am crap at Forza, but I'm not that crap) - On Xbox One S there is stuttering in more densely populated areas like the main city
Isn't the AI randomly strong or weak like it used to be on FH4. I remember the biggest issue S1 cars, the AI was way too strong with fast cars while with dirt or slower cars too easy to beat. Some offroad was very hard too for me also.
Im glad I'm not alone in the AI being strong group, I've been playing since pre-ordering FH2 and have been giving the unbeatable AI 30+ second headstarts in FH4 to have some kind of an objective to beat, but in FH5 I'm struggleing to stay out of last place against unbeatable, and I can't even reliably beat Expert AI
@@ValentineC137 Since the AI adapt to your car sometimes it makes the car unplayable. I remember I couldn't play my favorite car because the AI thought my car was way faster than it was, making the AI unbeatable. Maybe change car or the car upgrade.
@@MrManiac360 I’ve done just about everything, the two extremes of grip (AWD slick tires Miata both B and A class) and power (1600hp supra), aswell as just general in-between cars (FC and Spirit R Rx-7’s S1 and A, a basically stock NSX, and an A class R32 GTR) I’ve beaten Pro AI once and barely beating Expert more often than not
I remember I had issues with Pro and especially Unbeatable difficulties in H4. Expert was mostly fine but not on the short track so I resorted back to Highly skilled for the sake of my sanity 😂 Horizon 5 seems harder but Highly skilled is working just fine
On PC you cant fully turn off motion blur, only turn its affect to 'short" Edit: just spun up FH5, and noticed motion blur toggle in a different section I sort of like the grass effect, i've used the 'drag' of the grass to help me turn in around corners, i know this isnt how this is supposed to work, and i expect it to be fixed in the future, but it works now
I'm glad you mentioned the miserable lack of rally circuits. This is the third review that I've watched and the only one to mention that. I thought I would be getting this game early but that just went out the window, that is a deal breaker for me, especially for a game this obscenely expensive. Sad to see PG go backward in an already underdeveloped part and even sadder to know that the chances of them fixing that are very slim. When the map was revealed I instantly noticed that there were basically no continuous dirt road sections but all were broken up with major sections of paved road. I also noticed that there seems to be a lot more space between intersections. So that would mean that to make your own maps, you're relying on the pre-existing twists in the road as opposed to choosing which direction the track goes so in other words; you have way less creative freedom and opportunities to make unique tracks without making the exorbitantly long. Does anyone else agree that it looks like the spaces between turns are bigger or is it just me? Anyway, I'll complain about it on Twitter some other day when I'm not as tired as today.
@@austinobambino1360 ok so I just rechecked and turns out it's 60€ whereas FH4 is 70€. (???????) I assumed it would be 70€ as well. It's still quite expensive but you're right, it is the same price as other AAA games.
imo, cars feel less grounded in 5 than they did in 4. I don't think that's a bad thing! Traction seems to be a bit lower, and FWD cars definitely feel that off the line. They changed the way barriers work now, too! I won't avoid admitting that I've tapped some walls... or worse. I've seen my car bounce off it, nearly losing control, with rear-end taps, it likes to through the back end into the air (also bad for maintaining control). Also, it's nice to have the game launch with toyota and mitsubishi in the game! But some of the other missing brands are staples, and I don't understand why they're missing.
On the plus side? They will do monthly updates and the bugs will be quelled quickly. Also, FH games work best with a controller. Don’t get me wrong. Wheels are a blast to play with in FH but the physics engine is optimized for controller inputs. You will get slower times with a wheel. It might be the only racer I play with a controller. I’ll only break out the wheel for friends. Again, it is FUN with a wheel, just not the best times.
I'm personally having some difficulties and I want to know if its just me here or if this is an actual issue. I set it to unbeatable difficulty first thing and here are my problems. 1. I cannot get straight line speed advantage in anything over the AI. 2. I'm having a lot of trouble getting road cars to function well. 3. I'd the PI system messed up at all? I'm struggling to get cats to S1 900 and the performance X/10 doesn't seem to make sense. Handling doesn't seem to count for as much as it used to, but my 190+ MPH Chevy 150 utility sedan with 770 HP has a speed rating of 4.2/10 at A class 800. Yet my other cars that can barely make 160 MPH have higher speed ratings near 5.5 or 6.
Welcome to forza horizon, game meant for casual driver but wait no !!! it's not it's a joke, the AI randomly is either too strong or too weak, they like to play tricks with you. From what you said it seems they havn't fix AI issue, bummer, you might see trucks overtake your supercars, totally normal in forza, you just need to adjust to the level of realism xD. Advice : don't tune your cars unless you know what you do, it's meant for casual drivers but it's not easy to tune, it's not NFS easy swap engine and your cars works, no you change engine and your whole cars need to be adjusted, that is the level of realism I wouldn't want in such game but it's there, I don't why they do that, doesn't make any sense for me.
My only real gripe about this game is the random absence of rocket bunny kits. Like they added a bunch of widebody kits, but they removed just as many from previous titles as well.
I loved FH4, I have quite a bit of negative things to say about FH5... One of the biggest apart from obvious buggy release is that they took a few giant leaps towards full arcade. You can just go for full power builds and on walled curves / courses it does not really matter if you end up on the grass, they recover insanely fast with their insanely fast cars where in FH4 wipeouts that bad would have resulted many people passing you. Also love the random BAM you lost your skill score bug so much, 7million (700k on x10) down the drain last nite and I did not hit anything was going for 10. Also automatic gearboxes being stupid does not make me respect the developers at all... Straight off the line NO HUMAN beats a modern automatic gearbox EVER... they are so fast and so precise these days that it's funny when we tested this in game and a manual with way less acceleration beat automatic by a large margin and the stats are all over the place too... they do not describe anything really. And the sync issues, absolute dumpster fire. All this combined with the computer difficulty being absolutely stupid, on some tracks computer basically just blasts thru corners on tracks 100-150km/h faster than your 10 handling stat car can because no player car can do that no matter what, not even Sesto FE. All this is already making me want to take a break and I never felt that with FH4. I hope they fix the game so I can enjoy it with my buddies.
Im not sure why they continue to half haphazardly implement offroad motorsports. As you said with the continued issue of offroad designated races being actually mostly onroad. This is really getting annoying. They set the game in a place where the central motorsport attraction of the entire region is 'Baja' But they dont really bother implementing any of the racing discipline involved in actual Baja, Just some lipservice sprinkled in on their normal poorly made dirt courses. How are they really missing the entire locations premise for the whole game. I have to chalk up to pure incompetence at this point. That and also the noteworthy exclusion of my favorite vehicle from Horizon 4 being the Toyota One Baja Trophy Truck. Altogether seems like they really didnt give Baja much thought at all in this game.
Ahhh you won’t believe what these geniuses actually did with that Toyota Truck … They made it as a barn find !!!!! I mean the nerves on these guys … 🤣🤣🤣🤣 . I wasn’t even shocked when I realized it, they keep recycling stuff and people don’t can’t see shit, they got trained by JOHHHHHHHHHN CEEEENA !!!!!!
@@maitreyoda7404 Its really getting tiring hearing "Oh they changed this and that, they overhauled the audio. They added six trillion new body kits" from people only to find out that they're only highlighting a dozen or so cars they paid attention to developing so they can slide the game out and promote the changes. Like the different drive modes that are toggleable was a new feature thats been widely requested. We got it.. on 3 cars. They added the garage engine revving, but its buggy as mess and when all of the audio layers arent synced its outright annoying. I had some faith playing the past 3 years on Horizon 4 that this franchise would stay above the water mark for the absolute depths of trash the industry has sunk into. But this might prove me wrong. Everyones praising this game over the last one. I know for a fact its just new shiny syndrome. Theres so much thats backtracked in terms of features and quality. The map shows promise. But the rest of the game. Not so much.
Speaking of motion blur, I dint understand why developers feel the must always have it in their game. Most people that I've ever seen don't want it and turn it off. If the developers feel they must include it then have it off by default. I ALWAYS turn it off in every game I play that has it!!
The event system guarantees I won't pay for premium. As long as it's free on Game Pass I'll play, but games that lock you out of certain rewards just because you can't play at certain times or go on certain "raids" just annoy the hell out of me.
It'll be a similar system to Horizon 4. After 1 week all the cars will be open for sale on the auction house. So you're only missing a chance to get the car for free, which isn't a big deal in a forza game, money is a joke in this franchise.
@@duck74UK Yeah, and that's not even counting how often they cycle the hard to get ones in and out. I don't know of a single one-and-done in F4, if you miss a car you'll get other chances.
Tbh, I enjoyed Driveclub a lot and since then no game came even close until Forza Horizon. Driveclub was very meticulous project and FH, especially this one, comes close to that. Yeah, one is open world and the other isn't, but the presentation and the feel are on par.
The biggest difference to me so far is the AI, Unbeatable is actually hard, FH3/4 I put it to Unbeatable from the start and didn't really have to try. This time around, I'm getting my ass kicked on Pro, Unbeatable is finally coming close to living up to its name.
ive honestly felt like it was less of a problem this time around. i feel like my grip tuning has really payed off in most situations compared to power even with the ai at the highest setting. im sorry you're still experiencing it like that, ik how frustrating it is to ace a turn and then get immediately ditched on the straights.
Online is a mess! Players in your convoy will just disappear randomly, in races some are stuck on the starting line for you so you don’t actually see then in the race.
Map is shiny and diverse, but even less technical roads. All suited to S1-2. Therefore slicks on lower classes are less useful since power trumps on these roads. Lowest manageable grip for the highest power will be the meta yet again. Game throwing cars at you devalues the cars as well and when everyone has everything, nobody has anything. The trackside being forgiving even on slicks coupled with the weird gimmick is even worse. I know that the average 12 year olds would throw a tantrum if the grip loss was much more pronounced depending on the compound and the sales would go down. So as i have predicted, nexg gen reskin of fh4 more or less.
What are you smoking?! Horizon 4 had literally 0 technical roads whatsoever and most of the circuits could be done practically flat out in anything less than S1; this map is full of super nasty technical sections and not-quite flat-out sweepers. The roads on the outer edge are fast but it's really technical and fun on the inside of the map
I was in the process of downloading the game when my computers gpu died oddly enough I was playing automation when that happened so I played it on my roommates xbox I think one of the cars I do miss is the lancia Fulvia and I couldn’t find the dmc 12 which I want to v8 swap
I love the Toyota trophy truck (the jag is also cool), but yeah most other barn finds are mid. Cool little collectibles, but nothing too special. I did the finding them though. And I hadn’t played previous games, and a trophy truck makes perfect sense in Mexico, the home of the Baja 100. I also like the rally-raid Porsche
Biggest issue me n a few friends have come across is how the unfair the AI are in anything above expert difficulty. Wasn't a problem in FH4 but for some reason its massively unfair in FH5.
@@tyranus1111 at least in motorsport I the unbeatable AI is given bonkers amounts of power to any car they drive. I was in a race once and I was in the Hennessy Venom GT racing against the Bugatti Chiron and I noticed it out accelerated me for a bit until I beat its top speed. I went into the replay and check the telemetry of the car and it was making like 17/1800 HP. Which is impossible to do. Same thing with the “stock car” races where you race in all identical cars. The AI gets like a 20% power bonus to them on unbeatable.
@@tyranus1111 exactly. Because without it I can normally steam roll those ai without them cheating. But it sucks that you get the best payout (at least on motorsport) if you use the highest difficulty, but then they cheat 🙄
So a quick note from me, i was wrong when talking about the course creator, you can place props down when making races (i just hadn't found the option at the time of recording). It is a bit fiddley to do but it can be done which does open up a load of possibilities in terms of custom races even if we can't place start lines as of yet.
I recall hearing in another video that Turn10 was working on something to allow custom start locations at some point in the future
Good news is that it will release on steam Nov.9 might be getting it.

(Take small British sports-car and add a massive American V8 = Cobra)
So if it's ok (hell, in the Cobra's case, a bloody excellent idea) in real life, why avoid it in game?
you could choose what cars you wanted to race against in H4. I had to do this to keep my races sane.
@@beardedgeek973 ummm dude. Engine and drivetrain swaps are very realistic, they're just expensive af in real life
one thing im sad to see back is that all of the events scale the AI cars to your car. it makes it so there is zero challenge to any of the events as it dont matter if i have 5 bhp or 5000 the AI just scale to me and are easy to beat even on higher difficulty. makes the car rating system redundant it would be alot more fun if u had to mod a car and find good setups to beat events with rating restrictions in stead of turning up in any car and everything being on your level
so like Horizon 1 then?
I on the other hand prefer it like this, as it doesn't force you to use only the fastest car you have, but allows you to have fun with whicever.

Fairly certain they're doing that with the forza motorsport series sometime soon.
The main thing will definitely be game size
With Forza Horizon 3,4 and 5 very much scraping the 100Gb mark each, yeah, you image those map-packs and the overall game size, while assets and especially cars are definitely shared, I bet it would still end up with 200+Gb
Than there's the graphical fidelity, seing as this is a big selling point for Forza games, it would be hard to top the previous game when they can't craft each Version on its own
Makes it easier to create hype and up sales by adding a number to the games name
I've been playing them both since they were first released.
I honestly feel like they upped their game with the sounds.
100%
True they've upped their sound game, but it's still not realistic enough to satisfy the hype imo... check out my summer car being such a low budget game just developed by a small developer, they've got the datsun 100a sound almost perfectly, and fh5 they couldn't get the hellcat engine sound correctly, same case with the iconic supercharger whine, also every supercar has this whine when they speed up as if every supercar is some sorta track built race car/ rally car... this is my personal opinion however, and I do admit they did a better job than fh4.
100% agree whit you.
also some may argue the whine in the supercars at higher speeds could be a turbo whistle... but check and lmk if a hybrid na 3 cyl bmw i8 has a turbo..... and also the 3cyl sounds you hear in game is like the fake noise played through the cars speakers irl...

I had a hard time getting it to stop crashing on my system. In the end it turned out that it will not run if you have Nahimic software for Realtek onboard sound. I disabled that service and have run 24 straight hours with no crashing anymore. No idea what your sound set-up is but well worth checking.

@@MrManiac360 brand new game can’t fall flat pay people to say nice things.
I majorly buy games based off these reviews, since Alex mentions the small things most other reviewers miss.
the other reviews don't miss it they just don't tell you otherwise they don't get free stuff from the studio.
I find he tends to get too distracted by fluff and shiny things for a fully in depth breakdown.
Although I think you are correct about the wheel spins.... in my first 20 I received 9 articles of clothing, 6 horns, 4 emotes and 1 GMC Ventura lol. I guess it can only get better from here!
The motion blur setting is under the video settings tab. So you can turn it off if you wish to do so.
Other games have had motion blur in the accessibility menu. Check there.
I wish I had that grip with wheels, FH4 was a nightmare with wheels, I guess for what I have seen with forza it's an improvement lol.
4:32 in video tab, on PC at least, there's a setting for motion blur on or off.
I'm glad to see you were getting the weird disconnect warning all the time as well. The servers must be on tilt at the moment.
Looking forward to Hunt the Survivors with FH5, thanks for showing it to us, Alex.
if you find any ways to share with "us" your adventure races that could be quite popular and fun for us.
no pressure - your content is a lot of fun to follow. and if the timing was right there are was we can join... that all illusive time tho huh.
keep up yjr great work and thanks
Apparently you can Gift some cars at the barn find locations, to new users and returning users.... So you might be able to get rid of duplicates there 🤷♂️
I have a feeling that Taco Tuesdays are going to be called Forza Tuesdays down in FailRace Towers...
Cars handle corners waaay better and I don't have to put all my cars in all wheel drive anywhere, the fixed the excessive wheelspins that 4 had.
RWD is actually feasible now and I can actually tune them right this time where they stick to the road.
Alex I used to sit down for hours watching you with 300k subs and to come back now and see you’ve got half a million 😯 congrats
it would be nice if they combined the foto colection thing from fh4 and the car collection from fh5 so u can have ur own pictures of the cars in the collection screen
What does one need to do to join your gta events? They look extremely fun and i havent had a group to play with in a long while
Can't wait for a good old build series on Horizon 5
Also a bug; I havent gotten the Link option as a reward. Does really bother me tho. ;)
I'm loving it so far, just a couple things from me:
- There's a bug were the wheel keeps disconnecting (hopefully should be fixed soon)
- The AI are impossible (I've been playing for 4 years and I legit had to turn it down to Above Average to be able to win. I am crap at Forza, but I'm not that crap)
- On Xbox One S there is stuttering in more densely populated areas like the main city
@@MrManiac360 I’ve done just about everything, the two extremes of grip (AWD slick tires Miata both B and A class) and power (1600hp supra), aswell as just general in-between cars (FC and Spirit R Rx-7’s S1 and A, a basically stock NSX, and an A class R32 GTR)
I’ve beaten Pro AI once and barely beating Expert more often than not
I remember I had issues with Pro and especially Unbeatable difficulties in H4. Expert was mostly fine but not on the short track so I resorted back to Highly skilled for the sake of my sanity 😂
Horizon 5 seems harder but Highly skilled is working just fine
On PC you cant fully turn off motion blur, only turn its affect to 'short" Edit: just spun up FH5, and noticed motion blur toggle in a different section
I sort of like the grass effect, i've used the 'drag' of the grass to help me turn in around corners, i know this isnt how this is supposed to work, and i expect it to be fixed in the future, but it works now
I'm glad you mentioned the miserable lack of rally circuits.
I don't play Forza really so I have no real stock in the discussion, but "obscenely expensive"? It's just the same price as all new AAA games?
Have been stuck playing with a keyboard since the wheel support is so busted. Fanatec users aren't having a great time. :(
On the plus side? They will do monthly updates and the bugs will be quelled quickly.
Also, FH games work best with a controller.
Don’t get me wrong. Wheels are a blast to play with in FH but the physics engine is optimized for controller inputs. You will get slower times with a wheel.
It might be the only racer I play with a controller. I’ll only break out the wheel for friends. Again, it is FUN with a wheel, just not the best times.
The city in this one, compared to Edinburgh, doesn't seem wide or open enough for great Hunt The Survivors games.
as someone who plays wheel, i know what u mean abt the grip on the edge of the road thing.
4:56 bloody hell ninetales not only already has access to the game but also has driven through all the roads?
Is the Lotus Esprit V8 in the game?
This game is the reason I will upgrading from my Xbox 360! Thanks for sharing!
My only real gripe about this game is the random absence of rocket bunny kits. Like they added a bunch of widebody kits, but they removed just as many from previous titles as well.
@FailRace Motion Blur setting is in the different menu. IIRC I saw it in HUD and Gameplay.
I guess that you're unable to turn off motion blur to keep performance up, less detail rendering to do I guess
Woah i really like the "Horizon Mexican Circuit"
14:45 you can buy any car at the auction house tho.
I know some games have this as an option, but is there a setting to turn off the "water hitting the screen" effect? I always hate that
I loved FH4, I have quite a bit of negative things to say about FH5...
Ahhh you won’t believe what these geniuses actually did with that Toyota Truck …
They made it as a barn find !!!!!
I ALWAYS turn it off in every game I play that has it!!
but the questions everyone want to know! Do they still have van's in the game?
There are some vans in the game (In fact, none were removed), not sure about customization though.
Bought the Daytona with my free voucher pass and got the Lambo Sesto FH edition on like my 5th wheelspin. I'm loving the game
Can't wait for you to do some custom lobbies in Gran Turismo 7 , it could be fun with the car customization coming back
The event system guarantees I won't pay for premium.
@@duck74UK Yes, and the auction house is a pain in the rear and a joke. It's not worth the hassle. One of the reasons I quite playing FH4
@@duck74UK Yeah, and that's not even counting how often they cycle the hard to get ones in and out. I don't know of a single one-and-done in F4, if you miss a car you'll get other chances.
Motion blur should be in the accessibility section.
The 1st minute had me asking if its a live footage, more on I'm watching it on my phone
Why do slick tyres leave grooved 11's on the road?
Can you have multiple saves so more than one person can play or is the game setup just for one person all the time?
On the car list, I mean, the last update was still this year on FH4, so I'm not too worried that it will improve.
It seems like the A.I. still favors power over grip as far as upgrades go... :(
ive honestly felt like it was less of a problem this time around. i feel like my grip tuning has really payed off in most situations compared to power even with the ai at the highest setting. im sorry you're still experiencing it like that, ik how frustrating it is to ace a turn and then get immediately ditched on the straights.
Do you think the custom event builder in this game will replace the GTA V Stunt Racing series?
Im just happy they brough over the E34, E28, E39 and E30, hope they all have gotten some livable more realistic sounds
Online is a mess! Players in your convoy will just disappear randomly, in races some are stuck on the starting line for you so you don’t actually see then in the race.
so doesnt sim steering make it less forgiving when you touch the tarmac?
I also like the rally-raid Porsche
the last car I purchased for no great reason except I loved it was a Jag. 91 XJS v12 convertible. still the best money I have ever wasted....
Biggest issue me n a few friends have come across is how the unfair the AI are in anything above expert difficulty.
Wasn't a problem in FH4 but for some reason its massively unfair in FH5.
For once when they say unbeatable they meant it
@@tyranus1111 at least in motorsport I the unbeatable AI is given bonkers amounts of power to any car they drive.
@@jquannjones yeah rubberbanding is one of the worst things racing games have ever done imo its nothing but an band-aid for bad or lazy ai
@@tyranus1111 exactly. Because without it I can normally steam roll those ai without them cheating. But it sucks that you get the best payout (at least on motorsport) if you use the highest difficulty, but then they cheat 🙄
also the gearing didn't change for me when I was stationary it just went to 2nd rather than 1st
