The thing I like about this vs the Golf R, even if they use the same engine, is the interior. It’s just infinitely better in every way, shape and form. Actual buttons over Haptic Touch surface is infinitely better and definitive climate controls are so much more appreciated. Now if it had ventilated seats as well as the heated seats and a heads up display that would really make it perfect. Something I assume the RS3 will have when it officially arrives in the states in may
you get the heads up display if you spring for the prestige trim on the S3! Even though it doesn't have the fancy diff from the Golf R, i'd take the S3 just for the reasons you mentioned around usability.
I think ventilated seats come as an option in the s3
@@myemailiscool Definitely. Because who drives these cars around in a way that you actually need the better diff of the Golf 8 R? Probably less than 1%.
@@nairamize4996 also a good point, these are ideal daily drivers that most likely will never see the track. and will never get "drift mode" engaged.

Sometimes I turn off the sound and listen to music and watch these night drives... they are fun yet relaxing.
My B9 A4 has the dimmer switch next to the headlight switch. It’s a little round knob that you push to pop it out. I imagine it’s similar on new Audis too. Love your vids man.
This car has the best pumped in engine sound in my opinion. It sounds very much like the RS3’s 5cyl and that is a good thing.👌🏽🔥🔥

@@HarryTwatter I think he means Audi in general. But I would agree that Audis are not underrated. There’s nothing underrated about them. But I do like Audis in general.
How are they underrated? They're the understeer cousins of BMW. Nice compliant rides, nice trim. But Boring styling and boring handling characteristics. There's just nothing outstanding when comparing with it's competitors. It's just a kind of boring brand for people that want to be comfortable in a nice cabin with some power when desired. They have a market segment that works for them and that's fine. They make good stuff. Not underrated though. They get plenty of coverage. They're just not really making anything outstanding outside of the R8 which is now discontinued and even that car was like the boring version of a supercar. It's all relative though. doesn't mean they don't make great cars. Just not special.

@@gullible119 Outstanding from what? Every one of those cars has garbage understeer handling compared to everything else in their class. The styling is uninspired. Even the R8 looks like a super car that has been watered down. Audi isn’t outstanding in any way really. It’s the brand for people that want a nice vehicle not for its characteristics, but to look and feel smug and superior to plebs without being obviously super car flashy
Great review. I like this new S3 but I wish they had kept the smaller steering wheel from the previous S3. You can spec the old wheel in Europe. Another thing I prefer from the previous version is the old climate control module with the knurled knobs. That was a great design.

It’s called the flat bottom steering wheel, ya that was nicer.
The circular hvac vents made it better looking as well as the stick transmission lever.
This steering wheel is the Q5 wheel, and it's criminal that it's the only one you get on US models for the S3/4/5 unless you opt for the absolute base trim with no options. It's trash.

Audi has some of the most crispy interior white LEDs, even the paddle shifters are illuminated
56k is really tough to swallow for this car. thats getting into S4 and M340i territory which is just a superior class of car to me.
Not only that, even if you wanted one of these, you would have to wait forever. Audi's are super difficult to buy right now and have been for a while. Dealers take you to the cleaner. In my opinion BMW's are much easier to buy and in the end the cars are about the same in the segment. To me dealing with the whole Audi thing is not worth it.

The interiors from the previous model years and this year is made makes me like Audi a lot more
Its hard to lean towards the S3, when the Golf R has not only the "better" AWD system, but also more creature comforts like ventilated and heated seats, heated steering wheel, a heads up display, and the optional manual transmission. As far as I can see, I don't even think you can build an S3 with ventilated seats or a heated steering wheel. The Golf R just seems like a bargain in comparison. I've owned a mk5 R32 and I've owned an S3, so I definitely have a love for the platform, but I think this time around, the Golf R is a better option... Thank you for these videos! I'm actively trying to figure out what I want to trade my 2018 S4 in for

Lots of people seem to be quite impressed by this gen S3 with Jonny Lieberman saying the similar thing, taking this over the M240i and Golf R. Maybe this car is worth test drive, but the RS3 is still my dream
On my '05 B7 A4, recently replaced wiper blades with new Bosch ones and they still squeak, like the ones in the video lol

Tbh I like BMW and Audi but I LOVE that deep engine sound in Audi and interior design. vs BMW I like the exterior and handling but not so much interior

Love this car. It’s best in class for sure, the interior is next level and very gorgeous. BIG step up from last gen in looks and in interior

The golf r’s awd system isn’t about drift mode……it’s about minimizing the understeer that plagues the haldex system when performance driving on dry roads. The S3 is also a non starter for those of us to strongly prefer / need a manual.
But new golf is ugly.

how you like that b&o system. i hated mine. there is 14 speaker plus sub. 680what and it is one of the worst systems i evere heard. i got A3 2022 with b&o and it not goot at alla. or i got mine with problem. is there way for me to know??? thanks

Great review but in all seriousness maybe u shouldn’t do reviews like this on super cold nights where the car is getting iced over. I appreciate ur dedication to show how these cars handle different situations but in all honesty it’s not worth risking getting stuck on a freeway if something goes wrong or even getting into an accident if the window gets too much ice and u can’t see out of it because the wipers aren’t able to get it off. I don’t live in a state that deals with snow and so I’m not used to seeing this and so maybe I’m overreacting but the whole time I was focusing more on the windshield getting iced over and the safety features going off and ur safety rather than the cars new features.
Do you think you can get your hands on an RS3? I’d love to see that drive in comparison to the S3.

Due to I like more the hatchs in this case I prefer the golf R over these. This looks a good car but S3 sedan has more priority on many markets than the sportback. And it doesn't justify about it "premium quality" over the golf R. Sorry audi but all the time I think that only is a swindle of your money.

The S3 looks good. The Golf R, not so much... The Audi also has the superior interior I think. I've been in both and the quality just isn't there with the VW like it is with the Audi.
Golf r climate is not that big of a deal to me that danky little shifter is horrible kills it for me jus feel weird shifting and the fact it has old awd is big bummer I'd go with golf r..
The S3 is Quattro in name only. Haldex. And the sound is mixed with pumped in fake audio.

No hatchbacks (A-Class, A3/S3/RS3, 1 series) in the US market, the sedans look ugly yet they keep sticking to them.
Yikes, whoever designed and OK'd this new design should be fired stat. It's definitely not an improvement on the last model, which looked great inside and out. This one looks anemic on the outside and just plain dumb on the inside. Why on earth would anyone think air vents that reference an Italian supercar which has absolutely nothing to do with the Audi A3/S3 would be cool? It's a cheap gimmick you just wouldn't expect of a premium brand like Audi. Fortunately for Audi, BMW has made a similarly bad mistake with the new 2 series.

It’s not actually quattro, though. It’s the Ultra Quattro which is basically a haldex system. On the RS4 and above you have the Torsen Quattro which is the proper one.

Audi gets to decide that, not you. Quattro is a marketing term and doesn’t refer to a specific AWD setup or not. Audi can call ANYTHING they want Quattro, and it will unequivocally be Quattro, because they decide.
