Devin May I'd check out Alpine's Restyle section and see if it's compatible with your dash. You can fit a 7 inch in that truck no problem and do a tailgate style camera.
I'm curious if the features on this HU will work on my 2012 RAM. As for the fitment I can fabricate that into my dash myself I believe. Nice option from Alpine, but the cost is a little too high IMO.

Hey doing Anthony big fan of the channel I was wondering if there's any possibility that you can give me some insight on a project that I would like to get into. I wanted to know how I would go about wiring puddle lights that activate when the truck is being unlocked. One of my main concerns is if I wire up these aftermarket LED's to an existing circuitry that controls lights that are activated when the truck is being unlocked would this create an excessive load on that specific circuit that could cause some type of damage to the electrical system? If so what would be the solution to wiring it up to that circuitry but taking precautionary steps to avoid damage to the electrical system? Thanks a lot
Thanks for watching the videos! If you're worried about over loading the existing light circuit you can use a relay to drive your new lights using your factory puddle light circuit as the trigger. You'll want to hook it up to the battery with a fuse inline near the battery in case there's a short. You'll want to use thicker primary wire for your connections, I know you're running LED's but I like running thicker wire like 14 ga because it's stronger that really thin wire and it'll run cooler. Make sure you ground the lights somewhere that isn't exposed to the elements and use dielectric grease to prevent corrosion. Hope that helps.
What's going on Anthony I was doing some reading today and I came across a forum that mentions they installed a diode on the relay harness they used to wire up the aftermarket LEDs on the factory puddle light circuitry the question I have for you is when you're using factory circuitry as the trigger wire for the relay does the relay at any time while turning on or off send some sort of feedback to the trigger wire that could cause damage to the factory electrical system?
It's not suppose to but modern systems are more sensitive. When ever I add a relay and I'm concerned about backfeeding off the trigger I'll install a 3 amp diode just to make sure. I have personally never had a relay backfeed yet, but it is possible.
Some people can't afford a $50,000 truck. You can buy a $35,000 and do something like this and have a bunch more money in the bank. It's an alternative, that's all. Also the premium sound system is pretty weak that comes in the Laramie.
It was said tongue in cheek and yes my truck did cost over $50,000.00. Where your wrong is the stereo, The nine-speaker Alpine in my ram is very loud (no where near week) with absolutely no distortion. Two friends, one of which has a 2017 F150 King Ranch ($56,000.00) and the other has a 2017 GMC Denali bose $58,500.00). Both of them freely admit the Stereo in the RAM is better. Unless you are young and want to drive around with the bass so loud you can hear it before you see it the factory radio is quite sufficient. (PS live/studio sound engineer for over twenty years)
Gary Powell You have to use some sort of expression icon for me to pick up emotion and tone when reading words :p. If only you lived near my shop we could demo some stuff for you. The truck has no distortion because it has bass roll off. The EQ actually changes depending on the volume level. It's a decent system for stock, but listen at mid volume then turn it up, the bass actually decreases. Use an RTA and play pink noise, you'll see there's a lot left on the table for improvement.
I'm aware of that and I'm sure you could put something together that would make your ears bleed, Unfortunately, you have to get older before you can afford the expensive stuff and when you do you find you don't want it anymore. Just as in my 30's I did spend around $3,000.00 on a system that today I have no desire for. Hell I listen to sports talk half the time anyway lol. I know they incorporate frequency roll off/DB control filters that place restrictions on the system and wish they could incorporate a more sophisticated eq system ie graphic or parametric but that's probably unrealistic due to cost. The damaged caused to my ears over the years necessitates frequency therapy to control ringing. I use an app call Signal Generator run through the truck system. I found the frequency I hear all day is right between 2735 Hz to 3160 Hz. The only time i get to have fun with it is showing people how you can feel but not hear 20.0 Hz, They always ask why is the truck vibrating? I had an RTA app at one time I think was called Octave RTA. One more note I'm sure you're aware of. On a quality system that gives you full control over frequency parameters it is so hard to explain to people that wanting to hear more highs or lowes does not always mean adding those frequencies. Taking out disruptive frequencies such as 250 to 400 K can magically tighten up the bottom and make the wanted frequencies jump out. Same on the other end with 1.0 to 2.0 K. Good chatting with you.
Gary Powell Thanks for the tips on the disruptive frequencies. I think given your profession you should listen to some higher quality speakers on a demo board. Everyone thinks we just try to make vehicles louder when detail in the music is typically the objective. Also look at FAST Rings and something like Dynamat can even help out a stock system. The stock system uses cheaper materials, they have to, to pull a profit.
Dude that's fucking nuts! It doesn't look factory, it looks like an IPad - and to top it off you can get a 8.4 Uconnect off eBay for around 500 dollars, various people can send you all the connectors and everything you need to make it plug and play for under a thousand dollars if you shop around. No crazy modifications just clean, factory, easy install. Fucking crazy how much Alpine and vendors are asking for this. If it were 800 maybe -but around 5000!!?? Crazy
BIG_K There's a market for it. There are people that want something premium and different. Can the stock unconnect piece give you gauges, operate optional things like a winch or lights, or help really tune your sound system?
So wait - your justifying the price because of some simple gauges, and the ability to operate a winch? A winch that 99% of the truck owners wont have? The Uconnect also allows you to tune just fine.
PS - if gauges are the selling point, you can get the Uconnect unlocked with SRT apps with all of the g-force readings, steering wheel angle, oil temp, engine coolant temp, and virtually all of the gauges this has but its a RAM product.
i'm sorry but the factory head unit is integrated into the vehicle so well it you can't justify 5k and cutting the dash on a 76,000 dollar truck, the after market head units aint got shit on the premium factory units, they have everything that 5k head unit does and more, maybe 10 years ago you could've convinced me but the new stuff is light years better, period, and they are getting better every year, soon there won't be a market for these aftermarket head units, look at the tesla, their factory radio is fully integrated into the car your not changing that, thats the way the auto industry is going, so the place to be is in the signal processor market, in a couple of years that will be your only option for upgrading, just add a audison bit 10 or a rockford 3sixty3 to the factory setup, much better options
bleachinuri Ok maybe not this particular aftermarket head unit (It's too old). But speaking of aftermarket does your factory Ram head unit have Android Auto/ Apple Carplay compatibility? How many bands is the EQ for adjustability? Can it show engine performance? Also when your truck is a few years old let me know how well they support map updates or firmware after. I've seen so many consumers left high and dry for support from the dealer because they abandon support for the old units because they're onto the next. I've already seen freezing issues on those systems. Just so you realize the only reason you have fancy factory stuff is because if the aftermarket industry. We bring these items to the market and the factory just copies us because they realize it sells. We're the marketing test bench for them. Factory navigation, USB connectivity, sub woofers, backup cameras remote starters etc all from the aftermarket initially. So the aftermarket will lead the way and the factory will copy with a cheaper version so they can sell it to you for a higher price and make money.
bleachinuri And I see the market going towards DSP which I'm on the fence about. I can't afford a $50,000 truck every 4 years and if something like the factory head unit or amp fails I don't want to pay a bunch of money to get back to where I was. Call Dodge and ask them how much a factory screen or amp replacement is.
Actually yes it does support android and Apple, latest up date, and you can tell your self that after market is why oems have went in the direction they have all you want, but truth is oems release new tech first in their flagship models and it trickle's down from their, then after market picks it up and makes less expensive versions for the masses, and I have a 5 band eq on my factory head unit, not that it matters because if I every add anything to it I will use an Addison or fosgate 3sixty3, which is way more adjustable then any head unit, for a fraction of the price, there's no after market head unit out there that is as good as the new own flagship stuff, like I said coming from the auto industry radio's are going to become integral to the vehicle so it'll be impossible to replace in the future, as it is now if I remove my factory head unit I will not be able to control my mirror or my seats my heated seats among other things because there's no physical switches other than that what's in the radio if I wanted to I still couldn't change my head doing it cuz I have the axillary switch package and I have no exterior switches for my seats my heated steering wheel or any of that stuff cuz the aux switches take their place it's all done in the radio
I wouldn't call it BS, it's a head unit used to play music and give other functions. There are main buttons that you use the most so you can operate it more efficiently. If you're going to let this distract you, you need a refresher on how to drive.

I'm not sure I could cut a chunk out of my truck.
Not a big deal when done with proper tools.
@@AnthonyJ350 I mean emotionally. I can hella cut that out, but ...
I really want this in my truck

AnthonyJ350 thanks allot man i appreciate the help
Zev argov no problem!
Just buy a Laramie with all the bells and whistles to begin with.
My dad haves one it's bass
Nice!
Love it
Thanks for watching!
I don’t think they make these anymore
You can still find them here www.alpine-canada.com/alpine-restyle/chevrolet-silverado-x110-slv/
Need this who installs
Your local install shop
As nice as this is(it really is) I wouldn't pay $3000 for it!!
Jim Knapp Ya it's not for everyone. Alpine is making this head unit like a Ferrari or Ducati so to speak, more "exclusive".
Where are you located. What’s a contact info ?
I'm in Canada
dude 2 grand!? for just the unit?! NAH ill do the infotainment 8.4 uconnect with nav for less than 1400, and ill install it myself.
BIG_K I think in Canada the price of the unit went up closer to 5 grand now.
Not paying $2800 for a stereo
DONGARCIA I got a 10.1 unit for $129 on amazon. More features.
It's not for everyone
Why I’m the world is the trans temp 400 degrees 😂
No idea
401 degree transmission? Pretty sure thats faulty.
Probably cause the motor was off and not giving a proper read out.
AnthonyJ350 agreed.
The cost is ridiculously
For some it is
It looks cheap don’t like the buttons kinda like those phones with big buttons for old people the big display is awsum but just looks cheap
To each their own. Thanks for leaving the feedback.
It's very nice, but for that price it's a no go
Check out the Halo 9

5k and you have to cut the dash no thanks, just get the premium equiped truck, it has all that shit and more
bleachinuri Hmmmm the factory 8 inch screen is ok. And welcome to aftermarket, you have to modify the vehicle to make some things fit.
i'm sorry but the factory head unit is integrated into the vehicle so well it you can't justify 5k and cutting the dash on a 76,000 dollar truck, the after market head units aint got shit on the premium factory units, they have everything that 5k head unit does and more, maybe 10 years ago you could've convinced me but the new stuff is light years better, period, and they are getting better every year, soon there won't be a market for these aftermarket head units, look at the tesla, their factory radio is fully integrated into the car your not changing that, thats the way the auto industry is going, so the place to be is in the signal processor market, in a couple of years that will be your only option for upgrading, just add a audison bit 10 or a rockford 3sixty3 to the factory setup, much better options
bleachinuri Ok maybe not this particular aftermarket head unit (It's too old).
So they want way more for this than the factory nav system? Lol stupid
Yup, it does a lot more and is better quality.
Hmmm timesplitter fan? Lol
That's a great game because it was the same developers from Golden Eye I think.
Visions sucks for truck installs they messed up my truck $12,000 install
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully they fixed it for you.
I can't afford it. I don't sell drugs.
Just save up for it. The Halo 9 is a cheaper alternative actually ua-cam.com/video/_Q9EmI5cnUQ/v-deo.html

Thanks for the feedback. Btw, not a how to video.
@@AnthonyJ350 welcome
All that bs is just another distraction for idiot drivers......no thanks.
I wouldn't call it BS, it's a head unit used to play music and give other functions. There are main buttons that you use the most so you can operate it more efficiently. If you're going to let this distract you, you need a refresher on how to drive.
I have 2020 1500 Ram tradesman. Would that system work for my truck if not what would.
Is it a "Classic" or the newer body style?
@@AnthonyJ350 classic
@@AdamSmith-ku9lt You have a lot of options. Alpine makes a mounting kit for your truck to accommodate their 8 inch screen. www.alpine-usa.com/product/ktx-rpu8
Ever do a ram 2500 manual transmission remote start?
I've done the older ones. Haven't done a new one yet. I've only seen one newer generation Ram in my shop and that is when we installed the RoadMaster Active suspension.
Is this possible to install in a 2012 ram Laramie
As long as it's listed on Alpine's web site.
