I have done conversion and on my 4 port auto to 6 speed 6 port manual. Currently running 4 port abs unit. I changed over a black box behind the glove box, engine ecu amd put the transponder from other car into the new cars key fob. Had to run a wire to starter motor to the ignition. No problems at all and been running for the last year
I'm impressed the original auto ABS worked! I've heard about a heap of issues with PCM erroring out / engine not starting unless you swap out the ABS for the manual unit. Can I ask what year your RX8 is? I've never personally tried the original auto abs unit, I already had it out before I had a chance to test the theory.
Hi The abs is only a problem if the car has DSC which the 4 ports don't . The Dsc talks to the auto ecu. I an doing a 6 port auto to manual swap and have this problem.
I had my 2004 AT converted to 2005 MT and have only 1 valet key that works. If I ever lose this key, I am pretty much stuck as well. I have been talking with the mechanic that did my engine swap & he says the same thing, it is a complicated mess that he still does not understand. I am not taking it to the dealer either, as they are more clueless & will rip me off moneywise. I guess I will continue to research for a simpler fix (if there ever is one). Another thing I am struggling with is battery drain...I cannot figure out why it can sit for a week, and it drain a brand new battery. I think it is the security system in it, but do not know how to disable it (yet, still researching that too). Cheers!
Start or drive? If you want to physically start the car that's one thing, if you want to be able to move / drive it you're going to need keys to unlock the steering lock and the onboard computer is not going to let anything function correctly unless it authenticates the immobiliser chip in the key.

How did you start it with a wire
You bridge the starter solenoid 12+ wire with the 12V supply to the starter motor

at is a 4 port whch revs to 7k mt is a 6 port unit which rev to 9.5 k. extra solenoids. more fueling.
