One of the greatest trilogies of all time. Each film is extremely well written, directed, acted etc . There's a beginning, middle, and end. I had the luxury of seeing all 3 films back, to back, to back this year over the course of 3 Sunday's. I love it.
Joseph questionable second film. The best part two was the ending when the western union guy delivers the letter. Kinda dark and not light hearted like part one.
"Lighten up Jerk!" Tannen looks at his friends who are also confused before he looks back at Marty "Mighty strong words runt!" Ha ha, one of the best gags.
My wife had never seen any BTTF films (I could never understand that) but she was not interested. A few weeks ago I made her watch them back to back, she loved all 3 and now wants to watch them again!
I'd love to see you guys do a Retrospective and Review or even a Commentary video for Capricorn One(1978), one of the all-time great sci-fi themed conspiracy thrillers. I mean, James Brolin, Sam Waterston, O.J. Simpson, Elliott Gould, Hal Holbrook AND Telly Savalas in a movie about faking a landing on Mars? That has Oliver Harper written all over it!
Yes yes yes, _Capricorn One,_ an amazing sci-fi conspiracy thriller. Oliver *_must_* consider doing that film and bring more attention to it among today's movie-buffs. And maybe even the 1969 sci-fi survival film _Marooned_ starring Gregory Peck, Richard Crenna, and Gene Hackman.
As a huge _BttF_ trilogy fan, I do also enjoy this one too, the Old West setting is a nice change and, I believe, was unavoidable for a time travel film. As a kid who had never grown up watching loads of Western films, this was the one Western I had happily enjoyed. The train climax is the very-best scene in the film, and an amazing way to end the trilogy in a blaze of glory. Sometimes there's a part of me that could love to see a _Back to the Future Part IV_ if it were serious thing to discuss making and the story is worthy of telling - or if it were done in the 1990s. But a remake? Over my dead body.
No, Brad. The fact that Jennifer is still there at the end of BTTF 3 makes perfect sense. There is only one time line that is re-written due to the changes to the time line. It’s called the ripple effect. When Marty burned the almanac in 1995, the ripple effect took place and chanced the time line back to normal. Since Jennifer and Einstein were not part of the alternate 1985, they stayed in place while everything around them changed to the correct 1985. Doc explained that at the beginning of BTTF 3.
The posters at the drive-in are for the B-grade creature features Tarantula and Revenge of the Creature (the second film is a sequel, but not the first). Both films feature uncredited cameos by a young Clint Eastwood, and Marty’s response to Doc’s “who?” comes after Marty’s seeing the posters, knowing Eastwood is in them. Mystery Science Theater 3000 had a fun time riffing on Revenge of the Creature and noting “this guy is terrible, he’ll never work again.”
Massive Character flaw in my opinion, though there is a possible question of yes or no. With Old Doc in the past, and now Marty there as well, there is now 2 Delorians in the West. Point 1, it makes little sense that the fuel for the part 2 Time Machine Delorian was not stored or saved by Doc as he would have known to remove the fuel from the car before storing it and to keep this valuable item in storage, and if he did destroy it, then the second part is the whole "Fuel injection manifold that was destroyed that would take a month to repair." Doc did have a spare on the part 2 Time Machine at hand. Surely he could have borrowed that if needed be as simply did a time jump back if it had all worked and replace the stored one that he borrowed to fix Part 3 Delorian.
Doc spent six months in the old west, so it's very possible he used that fuel for some other project in his laboratory, since he thought he was going to spend the rest of his life there. The fact that Doc never used anything from the DeLorean buried in the cave was that, since Marty discovered the DeLorean in 1955, it means Doc’s plan was a success. Therefore that DeLorean should not be disturbed in any way, shape, or form. If something happens to that car it could create a paradox.
I disagree about the train at the end though, I hated that, Doc should have remained in the past, it made the whole urgency of the film meaningless because Doc could invent a new time machine at any time? It really did ruin the film for me.
Marty may have been in 1955 longer than what was mentioned. Not sure how long it would have taken, but the time it would have taken the 1955 Doc to build to the details to repair the Delorian based on the 1885 Doc, it may have taken a week or even a few to get said parts and build them and attach them to the broken Time Machine.
@@RoosterMontgomery Okay, so it looks like the filmmakers covered their bases on that issue as Part 3 start on November 6, so all this went down 10 days later. Cheers for your insight.
Oh goodie I will surely enjoy this I've been waiting for a more modern review with respect to topical events and wondering when you will do Incredibles 2. Bohemian Rhapsody, blackkklansman any particular TV shows and or any other currently screening feature films. 😎
I would like to see a mythbusters type test, because YES, Marty broke the fuel line. However, one would be surprised how much fuel is still available in a car when there is none left in the tank, but some left in the Carb and or injection system and remaining fuel line. I would say enough for one shot at at least TRYING to get to 88 MPH. What do you think.
As a kid I didnt like this movie the futuristic stuff in 2 was so cool, I found the west boring. As an adult though, I really appreciate this movie as much as the first 2 now.
Despite not watching part 1&2 first I completely understood the story even at that young age. It shows the genius of the filmakers. It was completely accessible despite being the concluding act of a trilogy. I have so many strong memories of that day... :)
Yes these are my favorite movies of all time. I remember watching the first film with my family in 1985, then again Part 2 in the theater, and also part 3. They don't make movies like this nowadays
Today’s films fail at the first hurdle - the script writing stage. Combine that with poor camera work, editing, and lighting and colour correction. Solo is a prime example of many this.
I love these, and I love the Brad Watson ones the most. Being a former Spielberg kid and very passionate, I relate to his fun and wonderful exclamations. My rather pedantic nature however, bids me correct the incorrect use of the word 'racist". Only because it is such an important word, that has been incapacitated by increasingly inappropriate use these last couple of decades.
While neither 2 or 3 are as perfect as the first film (which makes sense as they never intended to make a sequel), they're both always tons of fun to watch and have some terrific moments.
I ain’t one for nitpicks cause they are a reductive waste of time, but it always tickles me that both sequel stories could be avoided if characters just remember to do stuff. Examples; “Marty! You’re son gets into trouble in the future. So just remember to be a good dad. Bye bye.” Or “Doc, you get shot by Beuford over a horseshoe dispute, so you know . . . Be careful. Bye bye.” Obviously these aren’t legit criticisms. Just things that have come to mind with age,
I think Doc somewhat ties that up at the end, with "Your Future hasn't been written yet, so make it a good one,..." The possiblity of any future is possible, but the most likely is collapse into one (i.e. the ripple effect)... Hence, Doc would have to baby sit Marty for 30 years to ensure Marty becomes and remains a good dad. Regarding Doc getting shot. I think they took liberties in the time continuum arch. Cause with the initial rules of the film, the whole scene/plot wouldn't make sense. That being said, we could look at the scene as a "nexus point" (Borrowing the term from Terminator Salvation hehe), we the viewers are watching an event prior to a ripple effect, sometime that would be erased at some point due to actions that happen in the future. Sorry if I don't make sense. It's late for me. Lol
"Drive-um home safely, that's SO racist!" Racism is believing one race is better than another. That sentence is not racist. Not everything which has to do with race, whether insensitive or politically incorrect yet accurate, is racist. Stop saying everything is racist. This is dumb. Holy shit, my Italian friend sure does love spaghetti and pizza, he must be racist for sticking to that racist bit of stereotype. A real NON-racist Italian would hate Italian food, that way he wouldn't be a racist (again, thinking one race is better than another) stereotype. Is that how that works? Thinking one race is a certain way is not racist. Thinking one race is better or lesser than another is racist. Christ almighty, sick of this dogshit Trotsky ideology everyone's been programmed with and never bothered questioning.
