Should've been that way from the start surely if you have beaten the game then you don't need a tutorial the fact you have to beat the game to unlock tutorial is laughable

Dragon's Crown is another game in this genre that deserves a lot more recognition and respect
Only on the first 2 difficulties. The 3rd play through is ridiculous .
My pick for greatest brawler of all time. Branching paths. Multiple missions. Multiple classes. Drop-in and Drop-out online play. Vanillaware graphics. Items, weapons that break, loot that drops, characters that level up. Computer controlled players. Orchestral soundtrack.
I mean what the heck more do you want in a game?

Idk if it just me but this game seems interesting to look at or play. Also these sprites look pretty smooth and clean, kinda remind me the sprites of SNK fighting games like Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, and The King of Fighters to say the least.
This game is brutal at first. It actually is one of those “git gud” games. It’s got some frustrating design, but through practice, you get better at it.
It’s way too short though, could’ve used at least 2 more stages. Also wish there was some online component like leaderboards. There’s a community growing for this game, and its high difficulty fosters competition.
On a side note, you really should check out mayhem brawler, it’s gotten so much better since release.

It's the perfect arcade length of 25-35 min (meant for multiple playthrough or grinds). the core gameplay comes from mastering and replaying the games, and eventually managing to 1cc the game.
This is the arcade model.
1. No continues or saves.
2. No medium or normal difficulty
3. Training mode needs to be unlocked?
4. $25 way too pricey.

I wasn't expecting Top-Hat lore, but now it makes sense:
After Gaming boy little brother nikes was heisted with ease, he promised to clean up his neighborhood. Years of schooling lead him to teaching in hopes of giving the youth manners and customs, but those dreamy days were short lived, when he was expelled from the education system, due to false accusations from the scoundrels of the "Top-Hat Hoodlums"-- the biggest gang in both London and Manchister combined. Being reminded of the injustices of the country, he re devote his self toward his wrestling training.
Once he joined the circuit and used a portion of his prize money to feed the homeless, and up keep to Catholic orphanages, Gaming-Man meet the love of his life and was quickly married, but before the two could even say their vows-- The "Top-Hat Hoodlums" crashed the wedding and stole his wife. Enraged Gaming-Man gave pursuit and rampaged threw Greater Manchester area; eliminating a major drug ring of opium, then he shutdown the sex-traffic operations in the Northern Quadrate. Once Gaming-Man crushed an Islamic Cell, he found a lead to his beloved and it took him back to London.
Finally arriving back to the dirty streets of Hampton, Gaming-Man's vim arose; he was tire of this city, tired of this crime, tired of the stupidity-- he believed in his heart; it was time to give everyone an education, education, education.
Gaming-Man paved through Wembley Stadium, Gladstone Park, The SSE Arena, Wembley (what reminds), Roundwood Park, and Brent Museum.
Gaming-Man laid the law most violently in Queens Market, Green Street, Stratford Centre, Stratford Circus Arts Centre, Gallions Reach Shopping Park and Theatre Royal Stratford East.
Then his journey came to the end at Newham.
Gaming-Man faced off against the leader of the Tri-area heroine and opium trade-- "Sir Top-Hat". The match was a squash. "Sir Top-Hat" could only job to the Gaming-Man-- his fury was no longer human; just shy of being mythic. Gaming-Man asked "Sir Top-Hat" "why, what did I do to warrant all this bloodshed?"
"Sir Top-Hat" looked up at Gaming Man and whispered
"The Union needed you gone, so that we can push the people to merge-- so that they can create our utopia. But you kept getting in the way, with all your teaching and morals. You was reaching the youth-- having them act like people; giving them hope and shit. It doesn't matter in the end. Even if I lose, I'll get out in a hour tops-- remember the cops aren't prosecuting "petty" crimes anymore".
"Sir Top-Hat" laugh in a low groan [slow and paced].
Gaming-Man filled with purpose grabbed "Sir Top-Hat" and Jackknifed him off the side of a 4 story building. As the top hat lay at his feet, Gaming-Man picked it up. His wife puzzled. She asked "what is it you going to do with that thing?"
Gaming-Man turned and forced the top-hat on in triumph and replied "Honey, I will wear this in public to show the people that the "Top-Hat Hoodlums" are no more. The symbol that was used to ironically shame my fellow countrymen, will once again be our pride-- pride that exclaims we Brits can recover from any terror, and we Brits will defeat any menace. YEAHHHHHHH".
And you know the rest. Top-Hat Gaming-Man was born. He tries to infiltrate the E.U. through the professional wrestling circuit and weed out ner-do-wells to teach them an education, education, education.
YEEEAAAAHHHHH.

The game is ridiculously short in comparison to most beat em ups of today (and past games) so the no continues seems somewhat a realistic choice.
The developers wanted you to get your ass kicked first and then take time to learn the strategies and find the hidden 1ups
I didn’t grow up the series, but I would like to see a Golden Axe 4 game with all the positive features that Golden Axe 3 brought and more. I like the barbarian & magic motif.
I actually tweeted this same sentiment to Dotemu and asked them if they could make a new Golden Axe. No response of course lol, but they’d be the ones to pull it off! 🔥💪🏾

had the pleasure to get answers from the dev, seems they got surprised themselves with the release date, real shame, if this dropped anytime else other than with TMNT, then it would be so much more fun for many people.
i have to admit, the artwork is superb, sure beats the shockwave flash animation level of SOR 4, and such huge characters.
Love me some nitty gritty graphics, it sure reminds me a lot of MUTATION NATION for some weird reason.

The old attack at SOR4 which should looks like a flashgame when it looks actually stellar. Strangely now that TMNT is released, players start to ask for a scanline filter to lessen the pixel effect (and TMNT is clearly using the advantages of HD screen). Note that the animation is TMNT is amazing but the small size of the characters helps. KOF XII I looks awesome but it is closer to SOR4 for the process (drawings converted in HD pixel art)
Now that game looks, sounds and moves good but lacks some personality. And as you said yourself, TMNT is a tough contender being the DBFZ of the beat them up (AKA good quality game with a beloved IP)
Is mutation nation good. I have thought about buying it,but it seemed like a strange game. Probably going to buy the arcade version of two crude dudes as well.
The sprite work on this game is fantastic and the animations are superb
We need more solid beat'em ups Top Hat because I haven't touch a modern AAA game in five months since Shredder's Revenge came out so I will give Final Vendetta a shot when I get more funds lol. Thanks for the video Top Hat.
The world needs more hip-hip.
I don't see the reason to be crying about a casual mode. The arcades had options for difficulty settings and increase lives stock (Final Fight had 8 difficulty settings & 1 to 4 lives could be set), but were set to high difficulty to take your money. Allow people to set difficulty & enjoy the game at their own pace. I'm sure they'll keep the money stealing difficulty at the highest setting along with a casual mode.
Imagine playing Street Fighter 2 , beating 11 different characters and then finally losing to M. Bison.....and then starting over from the very beginning because there are no continues.
The thing is, this isn't an arcade game so people don't have to put coins in. It wouldn't make sense to have a game at a high difficulty so it would only target a specific audience instead of all. I think having the difficulty just plainly like Mega Man, Normal or Difficult. Maybe even start it at normal and you can unlock a harder mode after a playthrough, similar to how old beat em up arcade games had.
I love beat-em-ups, but man am I sick of combo/chain counters in them.
Xenocrisis left a terrible taste in my mouth for similar reasons.
Looks fun! I'm not fond of super hard difficulty though. I prefer a game at least have an easier mode available for more casual gamers. I love beat em ups, but starting over from the very beginning would just irritate and stress me out, when I often turn to games to decrease stress.
I hate hard games as well, but if the progression is anything like Contra, with bosses that can be easily taken down once you get down the pattern, I'm totally up for it.
@@sumit92artist A lot of the bosses are indeed beatable once you figure out how they work. But we're hoping with difficulty balances and a few tweaks we can make things a bit more palatable to everyone's tastes for sure.
I don't like the use of the word casual here, being casual is not an indication of skill cause my brother rarely plays games at all these day if at all and he still enjoys games with challenge. I do get what you're saying, but I feel saying casual is an insult to peoples skills cause a lot of casuals are still good at games or like challenge in their games. That's partly why a lot of cellphone games have a nice degree of popularity like candy crush.
Actually, I don't see releasing a day after Shredder's Revenge as being so bad. If anything TMNT could raise the profile of the genre as a whole. People buying TMNT might still want more...and here it is. While it may seem impossible, there are also people who don't care for the TMNT brand, so here is a game they can play.
I bought TMNT, and I may buy this one as well. Beat'em ups were so dead for so long that I am happy to buy two of them days apart if they are good!
I don't see the problem with adding infinite continues as long as you can choose it. If you don't want it then just don't enable it.

I gotta say, you do some damn solid writing.
This is a cool looking game. I don't like the idea of infinite continues, but continues based on difficulty like the old 16-bit console beat 'em ups is fine by me. Locking training mode behind beating the game sounds arse backwards!
I'd be fine with unlimited continues if they were checkpoint-based like in Castlevania instead of reviving you on the spot.
This is a great year for beat em ups. First TMNT Shredders Revenge came out last week and after that Final Vendetta came along. Both of them looks so good and I can’t wait to bust some heads with these games.
My biggest gripe with this game is, why are there moves that require you to press 2 buttons simultaneously when there are FOUR MORE BUTTONS TO USE, the control scheme is dreadful and ruins what is potentially a great game, unfortunately it is barely average as a result
I admire the art style... and I'm not averse to difficult brawlers...but if it weren't for TMNT releasing, and the fact this game offers ZERO options to continue a game (at least limit the number of them) and outside of the art, it really doesn't look to add any twists to the formula... maybe I'll pick it up when it goes on sale down the line.
I thought this game would be connected to the Crime Fighters franchise.
I probably will pick up Final Vendetta later. I snagged turtles at the moment, so I will work on that first, but it never hurts have some options.
We love arcade styke b-mup games that require some serious game time to learn and master... Final Vendetta will be an indie classic!
Casual modes are fine. These are OPTIONAL folks. Sometimes it is not about getting good. Please consider that some people might have disabilities. And some people might just want to be invincible for whatever reason.
Old games were often tough but many also had cheat codes, too. Plus there were also cheat devices like Action Replay or whatever it was called. Cheating was an entire industry!

I'm definitely picking this up on the switch. I love the new TMNT but the challenge isn't there. I beat it on the hardest mode and it's not like it's super easy but it's obvious they aren't aiming to take your quarters anymore. They make you super busted in that game, especially 6 players. So you can really go all out and do 200+ combos.
Part of the joy of these games was getting beat up and over until you finally do the beating up. I started playing Streets of Rage 2 when I was 4 or 5, I didn't beat that game until I was like 10. Me and my bros played it all the time, the elevator was usually the death of us. But I survived and finally beat it. Then I started trying to beat it on hard mode. Now my Skate is godlike. Even after all these years when I played SoR4, still got it.
this sounds like something I would play once, get stuck in and stop playing.

I'm so torn on this one! I love XenoCrisis, so I want to support these devs, but this game developed in a really tough environment what with the new TMNT game and its generic looks. I'll probably grab it on Steam anyway, but I can't say it's at the top of my wishlist right now but probably would have been if it had launched a few months ago.
It was meant to come out a month before TMNT - but last week TMNT moved it's launch date to a day before this one, which seems like it was done strategically for the point you just raised. Physical copies of TMNT are not available in this country until July.
Theres nothing wrong with difficulty, but there is a difference between fun difficulty and frustrating difficulty. The only way to have a chance is to keep spamming the same move over and over. That's not fun at all. They don't have to add infinite continues, but at least a point or achievement system that allows you to get more lives. I purchased this game when it came out and already I've replayed that first level so many times that I'm sick of it.
@Jose D yes, and most old school 90's beat em ups that I remember, gave you continues. The arcades were harder but if you kept feeding it quarters you could have as many chances as you would need. So in that aspect, it's not very much like a 90's beat em up. But like you, I want to like this game, and I think a few tweaks here and there will make it enjoyable.
@Jose D So I wanted to make an update, I played co-op with my son and it was a much better experience. Still difficult but fun because you have someone watching your back. Also there are hidden lives on every level.

Great to see these kind of games get some attention ,Tmnt,Mayhem Brawler,Sor4,Young Souls and now this one.
This game would've been 10 times easier if I could simply remap buttons, and not have 10 different actions mapped to 1 button. Getting hit because your character decided to pick up weapon, when you intended to jab an enemy is so dumb.
A game that really needs infinite continues, is Comix Zone.
This reminds me of Rival Turfs on the SNES.

I played this, it's good, but looks like an imitation of classic games I know. I rather tell people to play those first before this game. Also way too short and I'm pretty sure streets of rage artist could sue for copyright infringement.

If I didn't know, I would tell this game came BEFORE Vedetta 2. It doesn't have the vibe from a "new retro" game, its just looks a forgotten game from the past and relaunch today.
I love scrolling beat em ups but this ain't the one. Characters look clunky/robotic, enemies look OP, the game mechanics look awful IMO massively unbalanced. Think it needed more time in the oven.

The playable characters' walk cycle looks a bit awkward but otherwise this game looks and animates well.

When Final Fight dropped 1989. There was a boom of clones of it appearing everywhere in the arcades. This game however is influenced by what I can tell: Streets of Rage, Final Fight, Vendetta/Crime Fighters 2. And NeoGeo sprites.

Luiza and Luana And Effin Osric are the most frustratingly annoying Bosses to Run in , I wouldn't mind a 20-50 Lives Option , I Finished my Run with Duke don't want to go in a 2nd time with claire and miller unless they Do so .

I'm a casual but knowing that this is a Neo-Geo game, infinite continues would just be terrible, just stick with the good old Neo-Geo 4 continues and we're golden.

It's called FIGHT'N RAGE (A.K.A: Fight N Rage). It's on Steam, GOG, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. While it normally goes for $19.99, right now GOG currently has it on sale for only $5. If you don't have a PC or read this after the GOG sale ended (I don't know how long it will last but it's $5 as I'm typing this) while it's normally $19.99, if you wait for sales it usually goes down to between $5 - $10 (GOG always has the lowest sale price).

Since when did ARCADE games not have infinate continues? As long as you had the money. :p I don't have an issue with adding infinate continues if it's option. That's such an elitest "be as good as me or get out!" attitude, which is at best childish. Game designers wanna sell their games to more than just the selfish elitests after all.
I don't think it's about being good or getting out (although I may have said such in character in the video), adding infinite continues and making the game beatable in 45 minutes is in my opinion short changing the customer. By not including continues the games longevity is massively increased.
@@TopHatGamingManChannel I'm not ganna argue with that fact, buuuut.. ruining their own play experience is up to the player. Like, games have SUPER casual modes now that make death next to impossible. And while I think they're lame and would ruin my experience... they're not for me. I used to be really elitest about super easy modes myself, but as long as they're optional and not even default, why should I get annoyed? The experience I want might not be the one someone else wants, and if they paid for a game and can't get passed level 3... they might just get angry and feel they wasted their money. They're just adding in a feature someone would have added with a cheat device eventually anyway.

I'd recommend Mayhem Brawler if you haven't. It's maybe on par with SOR4 and it takes multiple shots at woke sjw's which suprised me.
Casual mode? Hows about make patch to make 3 player at once? Hated how SOR4 is 4 player only in person not online. TMNT proved its doable...

First time I saw this game the animation of the player character ´wrestler guy´, seemed off (the only player character I saw at that point) and made it look janky. Watching this all of the other player characters look absolutely fine and if I just ignore him its all good. It´s like his hitbox is all wrong, like he´s not connecting with the punches/kicks and walks funny. Is it just me?
No, all the other characters are the same it's like they're not actually hitting anything. It's a bit of a mess mechanically IMO.

There are better open BOR games that are free.
I COMPLETELY AGREE with you regarding the continues. I can guarantee you that people will start moaning even more that the game is “too short” if they add a mode with infinite continues. It will remove the very satisfying core of the game which is to learn the mechanics, practice, improve and get a bit further each time. As a compromise they could go the MVS route and limit the continues to 3 or something.
I’ve been playing this for days and I love it. It’s a proper kick in the pants but so satisfying when beat the next boss, and chain an entire stage! There’s an even harder difficulty once you beat it too.
Interesting the characters especially Claire are from SOR and so was the stage design from what I can tell. The pixel art definitely SNK. Too bad not for PS five or Xbox.

I picked this game over the teenage mutant ninja turtles game. The switch port of teenage mutant ninja turtles has frame rate issues and Co-op frame rate issues. Which bummed me out
Switch user here - it really doesn’t. You would’ve been better off spending your money on TMNT, sadly.
@@jacobniehaus Digital foundry confirmed those in a video and showed them off. Is the frame rate dipped fixed? Are the terrible frame rate drops when you have 5 to 6 characters fixed?

The game looks cheap. The music by Utah Saints is a plus but it is not on par with SOR or TMNT. 1 start game

I was gonna purchase until I found all this shit out. The physical version is obviously missing all the updates. So you need to download an update to get these missing basic features? Stoooopid!

@@TopHatGamingManChannel some of the physical releases come with the updates because of late release. But this isn’t just a re-balancing update like streets of rage4. A whole difficulty level is missing without the update. That’s just stoopid. I actually was going to buy this game, until I read about all this.
