I called Coleman and they said I could buy this repair kit, but they didn't know how to repair it and instead they are sending me a new upgraded tent under warranty because the one I bought 3 months ago isn't in stock.

Need to let your viewers know the Coleman kit is special because it has the hook on the end. I bought an aftermarket kit and the wire did not have a hook. worse yet when I tried to create a hook it was too thick to fit through the poles.
I ended up using mono filament fishing line!
On tents that have the skinny poles even the coleman wire might be too thick. I'm going to stuff a long section of mono line in that repair kit and keep it with the tent.
Take a little paint and paint the end you just cut, it helps to prevent the fraying too by sealing it up. Either that or you can get the super glue and coat the end of it too, just a thin coat will do.

Did you attach a metal ferrule to a replacement tent pole?
TBH. My Coleman Red Canyon failed big time in 85kph winds. 3 broken poles.. I replaced them with 9.5mm 7001 Aluminum poles .. The tent holds up to high winds far better..And retains its structure and rigidity.. Fibre glass are a cheap 2nd best ...
Facts. But if you are backpacking, a great lite option.

Tip: never chuck those fiberglass poles on the ground. Treat them as fragile. That said, if you ever camp in really rough weather, cyclonic, those kind of poles will split for sure. Been there!
You'd figure that you can just buy new tent poles online immediately. Nope, have to repair it. I much juts rather buy it and get on with my life smh.
I agree especially since Coleman models have been around a long time and well they have to make poles for the new tents just offer them factory direct for your model from Coleman, Ya listening Coleman?

Warning to anyone who tries this: I have no idea how this guy managed to crimp the metal rod into a little hook, and then put the hook and cord through the tent poles. My tent poles (Texsport) did not have NEARLY enough room to squeeze a hooked piece of metal into them. Huge waste of time. Eventually I got it to work by taping the cord *behind* the metal rod (even taping it side-by-side didn't leave enough room).
He used a Coleman repair kit on Coleman tent, the metal rod comes with the loop already crimped. I don't think Coleman is claiming it is a Universal kit like Coogan's.

their replacement poles are garbage because they don't fit many tents, you have to cut or buy multiple sets, plus the diameter is different. Why can't they just offer replacement poles for the tents they sell, not some generic unassembled poles
