- It’s that time of year again. Time to take inventory of my gear and talk about what’s been working and what needs to be replaced. My main concern this year will be the audio. Will I be going with an audio adapter attached directly to the camera or using a standalone system? Check out the video to find out!

Forgot to say, the footage using the 4 was simply gorgeous
I'm really happy with the DJI camera. The video quality and ability to quickly move it around is a game changer.
Great comparison video using 2 different approaches that nobody else has done. However, your conclusion favouring the rode over the adapter was not what I expected. As far as I could hear the mic adapter was fantastic. Having bought an action 3 for motovlog I was envious of the audio being better on the 4 for use with a helmet and subsequently sold the 3. Time moves on and I see that DJI have now updated the firmware on the 4 allowing use of the DJI mic transmitter with no receiver required due to the 4 having a built in receiver. Have a look at the guys who’ve tested it 👍
Thanks for the comment. I think the mic adapter works really well and could be even better with a nicer microphone attached. The main difference for me is the amount of post-processing to make it sound good. I also like the fact that the camera is no longer tethered to my helmet, so I am free to move it around while recording stuff. When DJI starts selling their new mic2 by itself instead of with the Pocket 3 camera I'll be trying that out. That seems like it could be the best of both worlds, 32bit float recording directly to the device plus wireless recording directly to the camera (most likely with gain control adjustments to dial it in for each setup).
Why don’t use a dead cat on lavalier ?
Dji mic 2 just came out. Waiting for the test with the oa4
I just ordered one and will be testing soon. 😀
Can't wait! @@KSSTUDIOS
