Just bought 2 Chromebook plus models from Best Buy. They were great Black Friday deals, saved $320 on an HP and saved $200 on an ASUS. Both were reviewed and recommended on this channel. Thanks guys and Happy Holidays
Just went to Best Buy on your advice 😅. The Chrome rep sold me an HP 14c that was corrupt out of the box and wouldn't restore. I went back and the Chrome rep was nowhere to be found. I waited about 30 min and they paged him twice. I think you might want to check your recommendation.
Good tips, but about screen brightness.. My PC monitors always go on lowest brightness, otherwise its like having a torch in your face. My 300nits chromebook, I run at around 25% to 50%... not sure why so many people love headlights bright screens :D
Just bought my first Chromebook, opting for the Acer Chromebook Plus 515 on sale from Best Buy for $299. I've been a Windows user since I started using Windows ver. 3.11. But with my home use only I couldn't justifying paying 4x the price dor a Surface Pro 11.
I'm getting the Acer 314 Spin 2 in 1 8gb ram 128gb storage 6000 Intel processor. This will be my first Chromebook. I unfortunately have to use Amazon because I don't have the means to use Best buy or Walmart.
The best Chromebook is Acer 516 GE. Display 16'' 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA) 120Hz .Processor i7-1260P or I5-1240P and 16 GB RAM. There is no better option on the market.
I picked one up yesterday, and while the screen is fantastic, at the price it needed to be touch. Also getting a LOT of fan buzz (not standard noise) around the left palm rest. I wish there was another option with a screen this nice that had touch/pen.
@@the_war_doctor Instead of a Chromebook, it is best to buy a Samsung Tab S9. Samsung has a Dex option and the ability to use a computer. A multimedia beast tablet with a great screen, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor (overclocked) and more. Such a device from Samsung is an investment for years. The S9 is more universal from Chromebook.
While this madness of Black Friday Deals has descended upon people it makes sense on your impulse buying to look out for the Plus models because that's the way hoards will execute their purchasing power. BUT as a naming scheme 'Chromebook Plus' is a terrible and confusing thing to have started, I said this a few months ago. Personally I'm going to wait for the 'Chromebook Plus Plus Excelsior' models. You can see the issues in comments before mine - HP this ... Acer that ... While the word PLUS helps - if Google/industrial designers stick to the notion of - it will do what you 'think' you'll want to do on it: video calls, cloud gaming, office work , online video editing , linux dev apps.. But the future will change that is a constant.
I've been a long-time follower of your channel due to my fondness for Chromebooks. Despite living in three different countries, I've struggled to find a suitable option for myself. It seems that Chromebooks available globally, apart from North America, are primarily geared towards "students," featuring low-quality screens and inferior build. Even products found on platforms like eBay or Amazon fail to match the quality showcased in your videos.
It seems like Chromebooks are getting more confusing when it comes to purchasing them... Seriously considering buying a Mac and just using it as Chromebook. Even though I don't use the other stuff on the Mac. At least I know I'm getting a quality unit and I don't have to check all these things that Joe mentions here
The last thing I want to hear is somebody tell me I don't need more RAM all these desktops and laptops should have at least 16 gigs of RAM they had 8 gigs of RAM 9 years ago in 2014
@@zero-lpds yeah it's a sad state of variants e.g. power plugs: HP , Acer and Asus UK websites are shocking ! I've been thinking of importing a US model just because I also can't find gen13 chip models. I think I found one on the Asus site - but it was greyed out. e.g. nice marketing guys ! ...... my two chromebooks Gen 11 models (Google and Asus ) came from Amazon back in August 2022.
@@zero-lpdsI haven't seen the Dragonfly Pro anywhere in the UK yet. 'Very' actually have a fair range of the Chromebook Plus models and some nice discounts at the moment. I also still like using the big refurb sellers on Ebay and have just picked up an HP 15a (Core i3 model) which is eligible for the Chromebook Plus update for £166! It won't be the highest quality but spec wise it's decent and will give all the Plus OS features.
The Chromebooks are too expensive they should have tower Chromebook computers with 16 gigs of RAM that are cheaper than Tower Windows desktop computers that's why I will not buy a chrome product

Thanks for these best deals video, Joe. A very helpful and timely video.
Is HP coming out with a follow-on to Dragonfly Pro Chromebook? Like with the Chromebook Plus label? Possibly a generation 13 Intel core i5 Processor?
Thanks, I appreciate what you guys do at Chrome Unboxed!
very informative video, thanks so much 👍
Thanks for this. I was on Amazon in infinite confusion.

@@Anima19879 had one (s8 ultra). Had issues, and Samsung support was the worst. Never buying their products again.
You recommend all the processors available.
Walmart has the same problem as Amazon... Lots of third party listings. This is both good and bad.
Great advices !! Thanks

In 2014 desktop computers had 8 gigs of RAM and they still have 8 gigs of RAM they should have at least 16 gigs of RAM at this point

Where do you buy good Chromebooks in the UK?
I wanted to get the HP dragonfly Chromebook pro for ages and can't seem to find it anywhere... Guess you're not monitoring this market, but any tips?

It's not easy to buy a Chromebook in Italy 😤
😃👍🏼👊🏼
Your ideas of better places to shop are very annoyingly US-centric
Thats unsurprising since they are based there.

Acer makes the best Chromebooks
Agree!. Have both a Lenovo Chromebook Plus Ideapad 5 Flex, and a Acer 714.. the 714 is on another level of build quality!.
best buy is honestly the best place for chromebooks. amazon is just a clusterfk
