Then you're moving too fast. Proper response starts with a good size up so you know you're getting the apparatus to the right spot. By no means dawdle, but you shouldn't be running either. Where's the initial fire building? How many more resources do we need and where do we need them? Do we have a good hydrant? All questions that need answering, and 5 seconds isn't enough time to answer them. As far as heavy hoses, this looks to me like there was a water problem that required a relay. Not to mention within 5 minutes of arrival there is a charged hose line in the fire building ready to go. This fire was run the exact way a multiple dwelling fire between attached buildings should be, and it bears mentioning that the fire spread prior to arrival; nothing to be done about that. I suggest you slow down a bit before you get hurt, because you will eventually if you're not taking the time to see what you have and plan accordingly.

Only in the 'good ol' USA do you see fire fighters taking several minutes to even get ready to start fighting the fire let alone get the water flowing! If you keep Keyboard firefighting I will not let you comment anymore. The fire was well established on the interior. Crews had to fight heavy fire on the 2nd and 3rd floors all the way through the structure. Do you except them to walk through the fire to go vent a window?
also next time instead of filming smoke and half of the sky try to let us see you know, like them gaining entry snf just show the structure. filming the 3rd floor just showing smoke and sky isnt really what anyone is looking to see

Lemme see ... my fat fingers type a bad response about nothing that I know about firefighting...... good I’m done now lemme sit back on my fat ass and scroll for another video to comment about that I know nothing about. It’s good to be an armchair firefighter.....
Terrible video. The total focus for the first 10 minutes was only on the upper floor of the structure with only an occasional shot of the crews on the ground. There was enough to show that this was a pathetic response. At the 4 minute mark they still had not started to attack the fire. My city has a lot of older Victorian houses that are built very close to each other though not row houses. Our department if no rescues needed almost always has the first engine in do a fast attack. They pull a pre connected line and begin to immediately attack the fire. With the limited footage of the initial efforts at the 5 minute mark still no entry and initial attack. This should have been contained to the original 2 units with an aggressive attack.
I try to focus my videos more on fire and smoke conditions more than fire crews, but Reading did what they could with the limited manpower they had, it didn’t help that the 2nd in engine and 2nd in truck were already on a call.
gary why are you venting on You Tube about their tactics,,contact the Reading fire department, here is the chief's phone number 610-655-6080 or better yet pop over to their fire hall and tell them your concerns."reradingpafire.com" is the website.Let me know what they say.
allcot i am not venting merely commenting like you do. Unless there are extenuating circumstances taking that long to initiate the fire attack is unacceptable. I live on an island community on the east side of San Francisco Bay. There was a early morning fire in Oakland at a old 2 story Victorian home fully involved upon arrival with older wood houses only a few feet apart on either side. Within 2 minutes OFD did what the BC described as a very aggressive interior attack. As a result all though the house was a total loss the homes on either side were virtually untouched.
allcot Fortunately I don’t live there but I can assure you if I did I would be getting involved and expressing my concerns. Several of us did so here when a young suicidal man waded out into the bay at low tide. The PD and FD stood on the beach and did nothing. As a result of this unacceptable response hypothermia set in and he drowned. Based on myself and other citizens in our community demanding changes the protocols were changed.
If you look around 2:15, he appears to unlock the door for that unit. After that he just seems to chill up on the porch though.

Jimmy Mac join a company make a difference then come back and bitch
nomex shorts once again
12 minutes in and the top floor is finally being vented. Sad.
If you keep Keyboard firefighting I will not let you comment anymore. The fire was well established on the interior. Crews had to fight heavy fire on the 2nd and 3rd floors all the way through the structure. Do you except them to walk through the fire to go vent a window?
Since when do you vent the 2nd before the 3rd? That’s sloppy truck work period.
That's what ladders are for.
Sorry if you don't like my comments but the truth is the truth.
Not saying you’re not right, but for me it doesn’t sound like your taking into consideration the interior fire conditions
I AM A VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER I HAVE 31 YEARS IN THE FIRE SERVICE
also next time instead of filming smoke and half of the sky try to let us see you know, like them gaining entry snf just show the structure. filming the 3rd floor just showing smoke and sky isnt really what anyone is looking to see
Do you have water? SLOW!!!
henry Wolford ugggh lemme get up on my chair as I watch this video to make a bad comment about a fire I have no idea about. Lemme see ... my fat fingers type a bad response about nothing that I know about firefighting...... good I’m done now lemme sit back on my fat ass and scroll for another video to comment about that I know nothing about. It’s good to be an armchair firefighter.....
3 alarm...not 3rd alarm
هؤلاء ليسوا رجال إطفاء بل رجال إشعال النيران!!! عمل بطيء جدا جدا انهم لامبالون و لامسؤولون..
If you feel it's unacceptable and pathetic then contact the department.Again let me know what the chief says about your comments.
allcot Fortunately I don’t live there but I can assure you if I did I would be getting involved and expressing my concerns. Several of us did so here when a young suicidal man waded out into the bay at low tide. The PD and FD stood on the beach and did nothing. As a result of this unacceptable response hypothermia set in and he drowned. Based on myself and other citizens in our community demanding changes the protocols were changed.
what the fuck is the dude in the red shirt doing w hands on his hips standing next to the ff’s forcing entry like wtf
If you look around 2:15, he appears to unlock the door for that unit. After that he just seems to chill up on the porch though.
It’s taking them way too long to get water on that fire
Doesn’t this corn pone dept have a deck gun and a tanker ?
Every dept I have ever seen should be trained by the Detroit FD
they get water on the fire before the wheels on the truck stop turning, while the deck is spraying the 1000 gal from the tank the other teams are dragging hose and hooking hydrants, this shit just took too long .
Unacceptable.
Hey buddy hold your horses, 95% of the fire was internal and there would be no point in putting water on the exterior besides cooling rigs, neighboring structures, and cars
it's obvious this jerk-off doesn't know what he's looking at or talking about it's obvious this was an electrical fire that ran the wall and got into the common cockloft between three of the four residences keep your mouth shut if you don't know what you're talkin about I doubt you ever drug a line in and put a room and contents out🤐🤫🤭
No deck cannon, 4 minutes in and they are still fucking with the front door. 6.5 minutes to get water going. Disappointing.
You lack of knowledge shines brightly. This was in no way a time for a deck gun.
Landing Collapsed
Why does it take so long to put water kn the fire. quit farting around already.
They had to force entry.
@Judy G. Fucking idiot. You start hitting like you want them to from the outside in construction like that you'll push the fire in places they do not want it to go. All of you Billy Bob douche bag keyboard heroes who fight fires in rural or semi rural areas would not have a clue how to deal with these type of fires. And they do it with only TWO firefighters on EACH vehicle.
