@Garnet Holman 😥 I'm so glad you made it out. This is such a hard year for everyone. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel for you now, at least? Any good insurance news, or community support?
@Garnet Holman God Bless you, i'm glad you're safe. Spontaneous combustion is no joke. Lost one of the world's largest free-standing wooden structures at Tillamook in the 90's. They stored hay in there. Was a WWII Blimp Hangar. The orange glow of the fire on the coast - could be seen from Portland. A hay truck caused a wildfire near Shasta Lake, I believe in 2020...because the winds across the high bridge hit the truck. All it takes is a little moisture inside the baled hay - and boom. I think the only way to really prevent it is thermal imaging security cams. Ones that would call firefighters automatically. I hope that becomes less expensive one day.
there's nothing in a barn that's not flammable. the best you can do is save the livestock and protect the exposures. after that, you might as well enjoy the show.
Grew up on a farm not that dissimilar from this one. Even though my Dad retired for the most part from farming he still did custom operator stuff from time to time. A few years back something happened to the 200 amp underground feeder for the barn and 1 of the legs in the panel went out. Dad called an electrician to come out and look into the issue. Electrician fixed the issue and within about 2 hours the whole barn was on fire. Dad had alot of equipment in the barn (tractors, hay equipment etc). Melted steel parts on most of it. No idea what the root cause ended up being. All the electrical enclosures were destroyed.

Thank God they got all the cows out when they did. The fire company didn't stand a chance at stopping that fire at all. Beautiful barn tho. Hopefully it can be rebuilt and sprinklers added to the new one God Bless everyone involved with trying to save this barn.
Good work by ladder truck, got to stick up quickly and got the ladder pipe operational quickly. So many times crews are slow to react, everybody wants nozzle time, not these firefighters, they worked as a team, glad the hydrant was out front.🇺🇸👍🚒
The Young Pride Landers from The Lion Guard symbolized firefighters with royal shields and fire trucks with mopeds and the barn loss with a willow and a dungeon!
@@carriemarcott6302 I've been involved with farming all my life, never seen a silo fall over during a barn fire. Yes,also seen too many barn fires. Volunteer ff.
Great observation. Silos are pretty strong designed to hold all that material vertically…however. The general rule for collapse concerns is to stay back a distance of 1.5 times the height of the structure of concern.
It's nice to see a crew hustling to try and get the job done for once. So many if these clips show departments that are too slow to act and don't appear to have a clue.

Actually that was pretty fast. The barn is already a total loss and the amount of fire and fire load calls for large volumes of water which can take some time to establish.
They actually did a pretty good job, it was pretty quick actually. As one with likely with no experience in the fire department, you shouldn't throw stones since you don't know what you're talking about, it makes you look bad.
Get rid of that aeral!! What a waste of water. A barn that size and that involded you only can protect the surrounding buildings and animals. How sad for the family.
You can't stop that fire, you only can prevent it from spreading.
Exactly!
Hot chocolate anyone? Plenty of milk available :)
Such a horrible loss. Glad all the cows are safe.
Doesn't he say there were 50 or 60 dairy cows in there.. that he wanted to save.. but it was too late?

Pretty dam efficient work by the vollys on this one. Had water on the fire fast as little as it could do to save it sadly.
1 hell of a 🔥 Thank God 4 fire fighters 🚒
Dont waste water on the main fire its gone protect the exposures
No, the source of the destruction gets the water. SInce they have no hydrants, water goes on what is burning.
I pray for the animals
Praying for the animals? Really? They are safe. Pray for the people that lost all their hard work.
So sorry for the loss of this farm and the animals who didn’t survive
So there were some who died?
Why would you not have a sprinkler system in something like that . The FF didn't have a chance.
Good job responding!

Great footage.
Turn the vivid color setting off. It would make the flames less intense, and look better.

Don't know why the ladder was spraying the edge of the roof that wasn't burning instead of the whole left side where he was facing.
Why are these called 'working fires'? Are there any fires that are not working? Just curious though.
It means it is in a growth stage and has not burned down any structures yet.
