For those who are questioning why the Fire Fighters were so lazy and care-free: - This was an Arson Fire on an abandoned building. At that point, save resources, let it burn, don't risk anything more than you have to in an abandoned building fire. They're using what they can to suppress it until it burns out so it doesn't affect neighboring buildings. - According to the description, Ammunition was heard going off within the building. If that's the case, it surely shouldn't be blamed that they weren't going near the building. It's understandable, and this was likely a crime-ridden house. - It's not like some of them aren't to blame. Some of them are just standing around, looking around and talking for absolutely no reason. *Not all of them are at fault, but some of them could've been doing more.* Another thing to check is that there's absolutely *no sources provided* on this incident except for a brief description. I've researched and can't find anything on a fire from Colquitt Street in Houston. To note, this fire likely didn't happen recently. This, according to comments and lack of recent documentation, probably happened years back. Times change, people change. It solely depends on training. TL;DR not all firefighters were at fault, some were doing their jobs. Others were, indeed, just slacking off doing nothing. Credit those who did do their jobs.
Nitn9114. I agree with most of the things you posted. As for the comments of them standing around the firefighters rotate at a fire they were getting water on the fire not everyone can fight the fire at the same time.
I disagree the second their feet hit the ground they should’ve been putting water on that fire. They wasted a lot of time. OK it was an abandoned building it’s still had a chance of spreading by exposure. To me the water should’ve been on the fire as soon as your boots at the ground and hoses were laid

Fires do not start on their own. Someone was there, therefore, it's possible someone is still there. The Fire Department isn't there to take some bystander's word that it's empty. And just because occupants might be drug users, it's also not their place to determine if they are worth saving. What IS their job however is to determine what is searchable and search it. Put the wet stuff on the hot stuff. The only thing that should be allowed to burn is a controlled burn - one that's been cleared immediately prior to light off. Nobody there has a helmet that says "City Planner." They say "Firefighter." Be a firefighter. Save lives, save property, and protect the environment. I saw a lot of everything except those primary missions.
This is pretty bad to have guys just standing around not even putting water on the fire. In the beginning there's time to put up ladders and get a quick search of the front upper floor rooms. Though it's abandoned there are squatters out there. You can't just say it's abandoned and we are just going to let it burn. Radiant heat and fire can cause extention to other properties as well.
How were they able to ensure the building was unoccupied? Second our primary purpose is to protect life and property, simply letting it burn because it’s abandoned doesn’t cut it. An exterior attack is fine and in most incidents is the prudent way to go, however we still need to make that attack quickly. The incident commander, sector command and company officers need to be organized. Lines need to be stretched and put in operation efficiently. If squatters were to suddenly be at the windows or coming out of the door those lines become essential to life. No matter what the call or type of structure a sense of urgency needs to be established.
This fire shouldn't have gotten that bad. First unit on scene should've pulled their 13/4 line did a interior attack. Next unit lay a supply line. Rescue do a first search. Truck pull any utilities. Second Engine lay a second line do a second interior attack. The blast and fire on the second level should've never got to that point point I'd they had done these things.
Actually, that’s a textbook plan. Although, I’m thinking that this department had already pre planned this structure and the building was designated as an “exterior attack only”. You see this offer on truss construction structures and vacants where holes are known to be cut in the floor and other life hazards are known to exist.
I think they were waiting for the fire to grow big and it would keep them busy until the house was torn down... if a small fire, holds hose watering and the fire disappears, and nothing else to keep them busy...that is what I see...they need to be well-trained enough and save a house even anyone. smh

How sad!!
Another flop on the table, slow water moving, took too long for crews to battle the fire. Get more training!
Houston has plenty of training and experience. They are known for being extremely aggressive. My guess is there was some kind of water/pump issues.
Ooh.. Danger hot.😮😬😯😎👍💥🔥🔥🔥.
If your hood covers your whole mask I cannot take you seriously
Looks like the firefighters are more worried about the guy filming then putting out the fire
Most common injuries are walking the fire ground with masks on... You're not going in take them off..
Show me the statistics that say that.
took a long time to put water on it....lazy or what?? I can see where you want it to burn down then not to burn again..
That whole block is basically abandoned.
👏🇴🇲❤️👨🚒fire
How were they able to ensure the building was unoccupied? Second our primary purpose is to protect life and property, simply letting it burn because it’s abandoned doesn’t cut it. An exterior attack is fine and in most incidents is the prudent way to go, however we still need to make that attack quickly. The incident commander, sector command and company officers need to be organized. Lines need to be stretched and put in operation efficiently. If squatters were to suddenly be at the windows or coming out of the door those lines become essential to life. No matter what the call or type of structure a sense of urgency needs to be established.
ill bet it was a meth lab
This fire shouldn't have gotten that bad. First unit on scene should've pulled their 13/4 line did a interior attack. Next unit lay a supply line. Rescue do a first search. Truck pull any utilities. Second Engine lay a second line do a second interior attack. The blast and fire on the second level should've never got to that point point I'd they had done these things.
Alright super hero
Actually, that’s a textbook plan.
Although, I’m thinking that this department had already pre planned this structure and the building was designated as an “exterior attack only”.
You see this offer on truss construction structures and vacants where holes are known to be cut in the floor and other life hazards are known to exist.
@@ronthemogul That's your criticism of the comment? It seemed to be reasonable and logical to me.
Not every structure fire gets a bog standard by the book exact fire attack
What department do you work for, firegal?
Are they really saying woo hoo
I don’t understand why people pull their hood over their mask🤦♂️ don’t you want to see what you’re fighting?
So true they do it all the time
They’re a different style of hood. You can see just fine.
A lot of people doing nothing

I think they were waiting for the fire to grow big and it would keep them busy until the house was torn down... if a small fire, holds hose watering and the fire disappears, and nothing else to keep them busy...that is what I see...they need to be well-trained enough and save a house even anyone. smh
Another moron heard from. That house clearly should've been torn down before it ever even caught fire.
