I've had this idea that tricks can be organised in a family tree-like system. A B-twist is a descendant of a B-kick, a corkscrew is a descendant of a gainer. The Raiz and TD Raiz are siblings. Each trick can produce "offspring" by adding a twist, or significantly changing the landing. This family tree has several "roots"; relatively straightforward tricks that do not depend on a prerequisite. So far, I've identified the B-kick and the spinning back kick as "roots". Are the front- and backflip "roots" as well, or do they descend from the front and back handspring?
The b kick is the basic of all martial arts tricking and also normal tricking....i learned aerial from bkick easily..then also learning b twist ... which is so intimidating but when gain height and focus on the spin and spot the ground boom u got it but u gotta focus
Back somersault and back handsprings also have very different take off techniques, I would say a cartwheel on the opposite leg to your "natural" leg is more of a pre requisite to a Raiz then you just work on making it more explosive until you can turn it under
Dude, I’ve been trying this for years to no avail. Literally since I started tricking. Even watching tutorials, I thought it was essentially a running macaco, and never could do it. Stupid, I know, but then I found your tutorial, and it finally clicked. Thanks man!
before i couldnt comprehend what exactly raiz was but i started to view it more and more like a "leaning" or just more horizontal tornado kick, great angles, helped me a lot
I do (well used to at this point I'd say) a completely unrelated physical hobby. I like watching tricking though and especially this, b-twist and corks look pleasing to me (actually landed a single b-twist in my life, randomly, in one of my only visits to a gymnastics facility. It probably looked ugly as crap but it FELT awesome). I likely won't ever learn this myself, probably too old at this point, but I want to teach my other hobby to someone and when I do I feel it'd combine really well with physical movements such as the ones found in tricking. This tutorial is great. 👍It's a shame that UA-cam decided to wreck the site but for those wondering it's over 7200 likes to around 60 dislikes (and that ratio is well deserved imho).
As I understand it, a cheat gainer is meant to be done with forward moment (i.e with a J-step run up). Also a cheat gainer jump is more vertical, like a backflip. A Raiz, however, utilizes rotational momentum instead of forward momentum; also, the take off on a Raiz involves jumping back a little (like a back-handspring). The advantage in these changes is it allows for greater swing-through power than a cheat gainer would.
Take the second hand that hits the floor, instead of reaching it near your head, stick it out to your side. If you trick right footed dominant, your left arm sticks out sideways not near your head. Reach and body axis twist helps with the wanki-ness. The gumbi should end like coming out of a back hand spring in the set up for the next move. With arm out to your side, you axis going into the move twisting and your back arched, you will see improvement in the move (:
Go to your left. All spins, twists, kicks, go left. Td raiz put your left hand down. I had a right hook kick and a left cartwheel, so I had to learn to hook kick to the left. Now I'm working on my right again since I forgot it
I recommend starting with raiz first to build a good foundation for it. TD Raiz will probably end up being easier after learning both but raiz is the base concept. However you still may start with whatever you want.
I ended up doing a weird Raiz Backflip because instead of kicking horizontally, I kicked directly towards my face, which brought me over like a backflip. Also: before I did this I was way too scared to try a backflip, but now I can full... so ya
The way I think about raiz, the way you take off with your legs is the same concept as the take off of in an aerial. The technique starts to change from an aerial when your legs lift off the floor. You begin to turn your body over instead of facing one direction. However, that's only 1 way I do my raiz. The other method would be to do it more like a tornado kick and just throw your head back and hips and legs over your body. This technique has a slower, floatier effect vs the aerial type of take off which is quicker but difficult to get as high on which is why I explain it specifically for the Touchdown raiz because you want to stay low to the ground.
+JayR deGuzman +Fletcher Stevenson it's just that when i do my aerials i start off backside and come out of it backside, when i do a raiz i take a cheat step so i'm going the opposite way and it's just kinda weird
for most people raiz = dark side aerial. it's just that most people's raiz are nowhere near as good as there aerials since it's a dark side trick for most. i can turn my aerial in to a perfect raiz but my real raiz looks bad. if you want i can show you my "aerial raiz" and "raiz" i have them on my insta
Progressions plus detailed descriptions. You have one of the most complete tutorials out there!

Do you require a lot of arm strength for the TD Raiz to support your Body when your hand is on the ground?
If you do it right, not a whole lot.
If you can do au, you can do it
excellent tutorial!!
i agree
For Raiz and TD Raiz you need flexibility of legs and back ? Thank's ! very nice video !
Very helpful :) I will try it today ! Thanks mate !
Thanks soo much I can now show off yay!!!!

Thanks to your tutorial I did a raiz in a couple attempts, it's crappy from I what I feel...
thật sự rất hay,cảm ơn anh nhiều
One question for me the Raiz looks a little bit like a cheat gainer or did i misunderstood something? :/
As I understand it, a cheat gainer is meant to be done with forward moment (i.e with a J-step run up). Also a cheat gainer jump is more vertical, like a backflip. with forward *momentum*
SUPERJACK7777777 looks like you're allergic Grammer and spelling.
leaf shinobi Grammar* lol
*I actually need a how to get a powerful flowy raiz*
I learnt it right after I saw the video
Who else learned raiz before touchdown raiz ?.
Well i didnt i already can pretty much do a td raiz but not completly
i always end up pulling a cartwheel when i try the gumby.. Help?
Take the second hand that hits the floor, instead of reaching it near your head, stick it out to your side.

Heey great tutorial, though i have a problem with landing TD raiz properly,i land with my both feet at the same time? Any tips please ?
Excelent tutorial
thank you so much
god bless you
Tips for getting myself to lean back more?
Flexability is a key. Straddle splits is what is you do.
Arch your back. Treat it as a back flip.
Same problem here. Haha.
I don't know which side I have to go. By a touchdown which hand do I have to use? I cartwheel on my left side.
Go to your left. All spins, twists, kicks, go left. Td raiz put your left hand down. I had a right hook kick and a left cartwheel, so I had to learn to hook kick to the left. Now I'm working on my right again since I forgot it
xD Thank you. I will work on it :)
3:07 Guy washing window in the background xD
How the heck did you see that. O_o
Thanks
Wanted to learn this after rewatching Daredevil for 20th time
Muito bom
hey man can you turn your aerial into a raiz by going more and more inside out?
how bout you try it out. Then you'll know the answer
Thanks!!
Nice
Great tutorial...
One question:
Should I start with the TD raiz or the normal one? To me the TD raiz looks a bit more easier
I recommend starting with raiz first to build a good foundation for it. TD Raiz will probably end up being easier after learning both but raiz is the base concept. However you still may start with whatever you want.
thank you and keep it up with these tutorials... in my opinion, they are the best on youtube
Andrej Bozinov Thanks, I'll be coming out with a Cheat 900 Tutorial tomorrow!
Good ! Cheat 900 for the next please :D
Yeees Please!!

I saw this TD raiz in Marvels Spiderman .
I tried to do this but placed my arm in a weird way and I seriously thought I pulled a muscle in my shoulder
x gonna give it to ya
I ended up doing a weird Raiz Backflip because instead of kicking horizontally, I kicked directly towards my face, which brought me over like a backflip. Also: before I did this I was way too scared to try a backflip, but now I can full... so ya
nice
I tried this and actually did 1.5 twist and kept wondering what I was doing it wrong...
is the raiz a further form of the sailor moon?
yeah, like a no handed sailor moon
Which ones easier?
A raiz, a touchdown raiz is one of the most confusing tricks to people
Hi
I did it but my Legs Aren't straight enough
music????
For some reason I go into a side flip doing these
Спасибо , хоть текст и не переводил, но всё понял )
3:15 TG Rais
thanks man ;)
Whats easier?
Leon Wessel gonna ask the same thing
Leon Wessel to be honest I think it just depends from person to person and what they are used to
Raiz is easier for me
Jake-Flips ok gotta try this
whaaaa..... look below
I'm more afraid to try TD Raiz than Raiz, you know the sole idea of bringing down my arm to the floor in mid air is scary.
legit bro
helpful tutorial but i still have NO idea as to why an aerial would help with a raiz but ok.
The way I think about raiz, the way you take off with your legs is the same concept as the take off of in an aerial. The technique starts to change from an aerial when your legs lift off the floor. You begin to turn your body over instead of facing one direction.

+John Bull raiz = no handed gumbi, gumbi = arched cartwheel. Cartwheel with no hands = aerial :)
+JayR deGuzman +Fletcher Stevenson it's just that when i do my aerials i start off backside and come out of it backside, when i do a raiz i take a cheat step so i'm going the opposite way and it's just kinda weird

after the "hook raiz cork" clip you can see my "aerial raiz"
shou de bola
haaaaaaaa Great!!
You got aerial and gumbi for right twisting but your raiz is for left twisting😅😅
are you filipino?
I can't do it! I've tried a million times on tramp
My kicking leg keeps bending
so keep it straight dumbass
I tried this outside on concrete...now I'm I'm the hospital.
