DONE! The buttons have been cracked, broken, and icky for years and I was able to defeat my fear of breaking things after watching this. I'm at 300k now.
Very helpful! I found that if you break away some of the plastic on the old switch you can easily access the connector and pry it loss with a small screw driver without risking damaging the connector or wiring.
Thanks for this. I'm selling mine and I wasn't going to bother replacing these just to get rid of it but it's easier than I thought it would be so now I will.
I ordered the new switches from my Ford dealer but the replacement switches come with the wiring harness pre-installed. You cannot just unplug the old ones and plug in the new ones. You must replace the entire harness. I don't know if I'm expert enough to get into that.
Friend, good day, I find these pieces in the U.S. I'm from Brazil and I have relatives living in the U.S., I wanted to import this wheel and the instrument panel.

Got the new switches on ebay for $25. Took 5 minutes to swap out. Thanks for the video.

Thank you! A different video I watched they said to take the whole steering wheel off. This was so much easier!
Thank you for the video. Much easier when seen done before doing.
Would suggest to never be seated in front of airbag when you first reconnect battery and restart. Nice video & easy to follow.
followed this. worked perfect. saved me a pile of money. thanks for posting
Thanks I'm changing this out on my 99 Ranger also. This video is a big help...
You're a professional installer, continue the great work, Thank you for the content
Followed your video. New buttons installed in 20 minutes. thanks!!
Your channel deserves more subs
Why remove the positive battery terminal? Most people recommend removing the negative terminal. Does it really even matter which one is removed?
For static electricity, your body is negative.
@@dinotexas6407 negative should be removed first. Positive can stay on....
Very helpful
Excellent video, thank you very much!!
Of course I had to look at 20 vehicles but I found a perfect set at my local junkyard for $5.50.
Thanks for the help!
Great detailed video, kudos to you and installer.
Why do you turn everything on including the lights ?
Are they supposed to light up?
Cheers mate.. easy once you know how!
I was taught, if it Don't fit force it, and if it breaks it needed replacing anyway.
Do you still happen to have the harness you didn't use?
Some videos say disconnect the positive and some say disconnect the negative. Can I just disconnect the whole battery to be safe?
Yes, but it's really the negative. Nothing electrical works without a ground.
The BEST way is remove BOTH. The air bag is basically a BOMB. I want NOTHING connected to it.
Will this work on the 2002 for edge same thing

Yea, the new buttons I ordered could not be removed from the harness they came with. Bummer.
Thank u for video
whats that little knob under the signal indicator? on the left of steering wheel
It's for tilting the steering wheel
Battery disconnect should be Negative Terminal instead of Pos....
Great mate.....
does that harness unplug from the switches on all years? my 03 looks like the whole harness needs to come out

Mechanic ! How do you put up with the parrot that doesn't let you work in peace? tell him something or tell him to shut up, how annoying the owner is
Are they supposed to light up?
