Seasonal depression is real. The way christmas season is set up, it does not favor those who are single and to top it all off those estranged from their family. So it just makes sense for them to feign nonchalant-ness about spending Christmas with family. There is no need for that though, start your own traditions. Make christmas fun and what you want. 💕
I literally get so sad around Christmas 😢 coming from a broken family and being an introvert can drive you nuts during this time 😢. I really pray to create my own family and share this moment with them one day ❤❤🎉
ThanksGiving has become the same way. Me and my husband booked into a hotel out of town and had Thanksgiving dinner away from family. We were surprised to find people having dinner there. There was a lady who had dinner by herself. She spent a lot of time on her phone. Family things can be exhausting.
As a whole grown 30 something child, I find it very okay to do other things on Christmas like taking a vacation and hanging out with friends instead of going home. Its a way of creating new Christmas norms for myself.
My love for you guyz...you keep shedding light where I am. This is the first Christmas that I won't spend with family, the relationship is broken along the way, since this new version of myself of keeping boundaries and not allowing mine to be over stepped is just new to everyone. Bringing tension. I feel sad but yet still contented on that. It's okay, furthermore I'm proud of myself for evolving and being better. I love my family so much but at a distance.
I am in the team that is happy to celebrate Christmas on my own. I see my family through different events throughout the year so there is no pressure to hang out with them in festive period. Sure, I could be cracking jokes with my cousins and Aunties but also I can be entirely alone. I actually love being alone.

Once you change certain things, the culture changes and it doesnt feel like it anymore. Who remembers real xmas trees, the smell, the plastic kid shades, watches etc all gone. Example,in my family,my mum is the only parent who is present, emotionally , physically like all round. My father on the other hand,is unavailable. He chooses to be alone. I always feel like we are just a burden to him. So, during holidays,I go home for my mum's sake,if dad wants to be involved well and good and if not,it's also fine. We can't stop our enjoyment and life just coz he doesn't want to be with us😂😂😂 So,family has wounded many of us so much that we prefer not to be there but because of that one person,we go home. 😊😊😊

I think that Christmas shouldn't be gate kept. Whether someone celebrates with family or if they don't, it doesn't mean they are sad or lonely. There are people who chill doing normal things around Christmas then go for holiday in January. Some chill during Christmas but do a big new year celebration. In January there are less people in beaches, hotels have nice, affordable deals. I get it that Christmas has a way it has been around the world but we can make room for everyone ❤️

I wouldnt judge those who arent looking forward to spend the christmas holiday with family. If I could, I would spend christmas as far away as possible from my family. Christmas is an extension of chores. Would be nice to relax and actually enjoy christmas.
