I advise using stitch markers on each 16th stitch at first when using textured yarn. It makes it easier to do correct spacing. I do 16chain and leave stitch marker then proceed leaving them along the way. Makes life easy.
At 71, I am just beginning to learn this beautiful craft. I never dreamed I would ever learn something so satisfying. I have watched many, many videos but I kept coming back to you. You are an excellent teacher. I am far from your level but I just love to watch and listen to you. I am learning so much about stitches, yarns and needles.... who knew there was velvet yarn? You are much appreciated by me. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent. Bless you and your family.
BLESS YOUR HEART , NOW YOU ARE GOING TO GET HOOKED ON YARN LIKE THE REST OF US. I AM 73 AND HAVE BEEN CROCHETING SINCE I WAS FIVE. STILL , I AM ALWAYS LEARNING NEW THINGS AND FALLING IN LOVE WITH NEW YARN.
DONNA WARNER You are so blessed! I just don’t want to sit at home and become a mushroom 🍄. I am still working on my edges being straight and finding that I can single crochet over them was an eye opener. One thing I have noticed on this site is that her followers are very insightful and helpful. Her “what not to buy” saved me a great deal of angst. All y’all (yep, I am southern) are just so sweet. I am excited about this...
This poncho looks so comfy and cozy. I did get 2 skeins of the mix black and grey during the HL clearance. But i am sure i can sub a different B5. After watching 3 poncho tutorials, I am now understanding the 2 point V 4 point. 2 months ago that confused me to all heck, but i am a learning! thank you so very much
I made mine about a year ago. My favourite crochet project ever. Starting a second one soon for my sister. She’s been threatening to steal mine for the longest time
Thank you Crystal for this video. I’ve been eyeballing the velvet yarn and could not figure out what to make with it. Mainly because of the weight. So soft🙌🏼 Can’t hardly wait to start it. ❤️
I have so many WIP's right now and a very long list of "to makes"... but this is still going on the list! I think it would be nice and warm with winter coming up. And I just got some of this yarn last weekend... was going to make a blanket... 🤔 that might change. Lol. 💙
Thank you for this creation, I didn't want to make another blanket and I'm just beginning to crochet garments and I think this is just perfect for me! You're a wonderfully clear teacher and your tips are helpful!
I love your videos, I may not have those yarns that your using but I am doing my best to follow and make what you have crafted. Made 2 of your bags😄😄. Thank you for sharing your talent.
This would be great for winter nursing mothers too. One “tip” I read on this type of yarn, you can scotch (lightly burn to melt) the ends to stop them from unraveling. Wish I had known that about 12 blankets ago! I knotted the heck out of it. Feed under two stitches and knot, feed under two more and another knot. Working the ends like normal yarns will come undone the first time you wash it. So KNOT and SCORCH.
Just starting to learn how to crochet and knit, and I bought some of this yarn to make my mom something without realizing how difficult it is to find an easy pattern with it. I absolutely love this pattern though, and am giving it my best.
I love this yarn. I just saw this in micheals and could not think of what to make with it. I love the poncho idea, and I now have a reason to go back and buy some of that velvety yarn. Thanks Crystal again.
Very beautiful 🤩 I made my ggbabies sweaters with this yarn and one of your patterns and they came out beautiful. Thank you so much I never would have attempted to make any sweater without you. This yarn is fun to work with. Oh I made 3 sweaters all the same size. The girls love their sweaters so much. 💕💕🧶
I adore your videos!!! the way I do my corners/points is chain 5, two dc in same space - end with 1 dc in 1st ch 2 and join - makes a virtually invisible join
Crystal I just started the hat now I have to go to the store and get this yarn so I can make this, girl I'm loving this thanks so much for sharing you have me working hard this week
I so enjoy your tutorials Crystal! I have made several of your patterns and I am in no way an expert but I have had true success. You are a fabulous teacher and I never thought I would produce such beautiful items.....but I have, thanks to your amazing instruction😊💕thank you!
This is beautiful Crystal. OMG the yarn looks so comfy. I can't wait to make this. Thank you for sharing your talents with us. You are the best crochet teacher on you tube. I can easily follow you. Thanks again. God Bless you and your family! Have a happy day!
Beautiful color you picked crystal. It looks sooooo warm. I will have to buy some of that yarn to make this poncho. Thanks again for sharing this tutorial👍😄
Thank you for sharing, I was going to ask if it was hard to work with too and then I heard you say it's Not hard to work with. I saw a lot of negative reviews on Joanns about this yarn, so your comment makes me feel better about my up and coming purchases using my coupons of course since this yarn is on the pricey side. :)
I'm going to make this for a couple of people for Christmas. I also am bringing one as a thank you gift for my friend for Thanksgiving ...so beautiful!!! Thanks for another great tutorial.
I'm a large woman (over 200 lbs) and I've made one of your shawls and 1 of your ponchos so far and am looking at your ponchos and when you said that you had so many people asking you to make the neck line larger I was literally in shock! Cuz I'm large and I can't stand anything tight on me, especially near my neck. Normally my biggest issue clothing wise is the neckline. Anything, coats, shirts, scarves, etc, but the poncho I made was huge on my shoulders, forget the neck, LoL. I was going to ask you if you had a way of me being able to make the neckline smaller but with the same general idea of your instructions able to be followed, just my count would always be different but I'm willing to work on that part myself. I'm sorry I'm rambling. I love your channel and I love that you give people of all sizes options to be able to not be excluded. I, personally, appreciate it very much. 🧶 🌈 🌹
Well I have finished this beautiful poncho. I think your patterns are great. I wish I had enough experiance to do this this wood also look as a cardigan in the same wool and pattern. keep up the good work Bag o day
Very nice. Thank you. I can do this one too i think. Your Ruby Feathers was my first shawl and i just finished one of your hats with the Bib to match. Your tutorials are very easy to follow. Thank you very much
Beautiful work! I saw this yarn at my local Michael’s this past weekend, but I didn’t get any. Now I am going to have to go back and pick some of this yarn up to make this poncho. Love your tutorials!!
Hi Crystal. I just went to Jo-Ann's today and I got the purple the pink the silver the blue and the turquoise. I kind of went crazy and I just made sure I got one of each I am so excited can't wait till use this velvet yarn. It's absolutely a beautiful yarn
Dear Crystal - As always, your tutorials are excellent. I watch your tutorials several times a week. During this tutorial I found myself wondering several times about the best way to add a new yarn when the current one has come to an end. There are probably others who, like me, haven't much experience working with the velvet and/or chenille-type yarns. I really appreciated how you shared at the start why you recommended against a center pull .... I think that would have been an ideal time to address transitioning to a new skein & securing the end of the old one. "Out with the old. In with the New." Also, can you suggest what are some of the best ways to hold this type of yarn for controlling the tension ? I'm practicing with a clearance chenille yarn I bought from Ice Yarns and find it wants to drag. This type of yarn and/or other bulkies must have a few suggestions. Any tips would be helpful !
Hello Crystal, also watching this Tutorial Again 😁 this looks absolutely Gorgeous & snuggly 😋 & I love the colour 💕 I would definitely wear this sitting watching TV or you on UA-cam 😂ha ha! Erica x
Now that is a fast project to make. And certainly comfy warm to wear while watching TV!
