You’re a brilliant teacher. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but you use the same word sequence in all your videos so I know exactly what you mean. I can look at my crochet and just listen to what your saying rather than watching the tutorial. I’ve learnt so much from you. Thankyou Thankyou from me here in sunny Australia 🇦🇺 💕💐
Same here, I just listen to her voice and follow along!!
She knows this , silly! Cheers lol 😆
100% AGREE❣️🌻🥰♥️ shes awesome❣️❣️❣️ her teaching an one other crocheter are the really special ones who can teach my brain(stroke damage) how to continue, to crochet and be creative still, even though some days my brain refuses to admit what it knows lol. More often than not due to short term memory impairment, (think Dory from that cute fish cartoon movie lol) I don’t know if it weren’t for Crystal’s tutorials and ease of teaching and so straightforward and repeating at least 2 sets of rounds when they apply, if I’d be able to make the things I’ve made in the past 5 yrs. I doubt that a lot of what I have created for others would have existed in my world and given so many family and friends a piece of my heart through the items I’ve made for them thanks to Crystal♥️🥰
Yes she is, although I watch alot of tutorials from various places, I always revert to Crystal to actually learn the stitches and I have learned alot
This is the first tutorial of yours I have seen. I am an experienced crochet and Knitter and am familiar with most stitches. Your tutorials are easy to follow watching or just listening as you crochet along.
Super cute poncho, I am going to make this for my daughter who teaches 3rd grade. I have made several ponchos for her students and this will be a surprise !
You keep me busy...I'm glad I learned to crochet as a child now I have something to do with my time since I'm 73 and like you arthritis...mine is all over..!!
I have learned so much about yarn and other things from you.I love your new home and family.❤

Canadia, your story is very touching, recovering from your stroke, and crocheting so many gifts from Crystal’s tutorials!! Yes, I agree, can just listen to her and know what to do….
A sign of an excellent teacher!!!!
Really only need to look during more difficult stitches like cables maybe once or twice, (but I can still just listen!) if you need to…I’ve been crocheting since I was 12, am now 67, self taught by looking at pattern books…
Have made oodles if afghans, scarves, kitchen items, shawls, etc. all given away as gifts to family n friends, thru the years!!!
I think it’s time I made something for myself!! This poncho is super easy n I love post stitches

Thanks for the excellent tutorials. One of my favorites is how you always include the stitch counts which is so helpful. Also you make time to save us time pointing out the stitches which are easily missed hiding at the points. Thanks for teaching & sharing your expertise 😊

You are an awesome teacher. Everytime I try to learn to crochet something, I grab a pen and paper and write it all down and try to start off but this time it is so very clear after hearing your instructions, I'm definitely completing my project sooner than I thought. I’ve been waiting forever to make a poncho for ME! I think this is the one. You are such a blessing to my favorite craft. Love ya!
Love how your teaching us this one. My newest daughter in law has asked for something hand made by me for their trip to visit her family and i get to make something for her this year before she leaves to fly home with our youngest son Skooter. I am thinking about making this one so im gonna have to put my donations of beanies aside for now and find something i can make for her she's super small and picky at whatever she wants. So gonna be so hard one for myself. Thanks again Crystal your amazing lady. Have a great weekend God Bless you all. Mary Ellen Ten Eyck
I love this poncho. I want to make it for my friend Liz in this color. I have already used this yarn and I love it!

Hi Crystal! That poncho is gorgeous. Perfect for Breast Cancer Awareness and so is your hat. A wonderful project to add to my make it list. Thank you
I love this poncho pattern.
I've never made a poncho, but this looks like one I'd love to try! Your tutorials are so easy to follow. I watched/listened while working on a blanket...sneaking peeks between stitches. Saving it to go back to when I decide on the right yarn. Thanks!!
So pretty, I think that through your teaching I can watch and make without having to keep watching! I am starting to feel a bit more confident in my crocheting!
Nice poncho .I try it .thanks teacher.

Hi Crystal! I've just started crocheting on and off for a couple of years, after an absence of 30 years! So I'm finding I need very easy tutorials! This is bright and beautiful 😍
Hi Crystal! 👋🏻👋🏻 I’ve never asked a question in the comments, but here goes! I was curious about the initial chain, and how sometimes people go under both loops of the chain, and sometimes people go under only 1. Is there an advantage one way or another? Does going under 2 create a more stable base? I’ve always wondered. Thanks for taking the time to share this tutorial with us 💜
I know that this is an old, old comment, but I wanted to reply even if you've already found your answer because it's something I was also wanting to know too!
In most cases, it just depends on the finish that you want. There are actually four ways you can crochet into a chain: through the back loop, through the front loop, through both loops and, if you turn over the chain, into the back "bump" to make (IMO) the prettiest edge because it looks just like the top edge, with the Vs. Just pick whichever you find suits you and/or the project. If you google "different ways to crochet into a starting chain liana in stitches", you should get a link to a blog post that shows exactly which part of the starting chain is which, and what the end result looks like. If you go through both loops, you're probably going to find that less stretchy than a single loop, but again, it's going to depend on the yarn, the pattern, your tension and how you crochet.
There are a few exceptions. Generally, when I do Tunisian crochet, I go through the back bump. That may just be because of how I learned, I'm not sure, but that's my go-to for that. Also, if you're crocheting around the starting chain for the bottom of a bag, slipper, etc so that you can then work in rounds, you should only crochet through one loop at a time. You start off working in the back loop for the first half of the chain, and then when you start on the other side of the chain, you go through the front loop. I always make sure that the back bumps end up on the inside of the work (along with the starting tail) so then the outside of the work looks completely smooth.
Other than that, do whichever you prefer, or that the pattern recommends.
Another shawl that I crocheted from your pattern. Keep em coming. 😊😊
Love, love love the colors in this ombre for your poncho tutorial!! Thanks for this tutorial. Have to try this when I finish this recent prayer shawl for church group.
