Your car has the CanBus error system. The system works buy measuring the amount of electricity each bulb uses. LED's use a lot less eletricity, and because of that the CanBus system assumes (wrongly) that a bulb has burned out and the cuts power to that bulb. The solution is to get special CanBus compatible bulbs, which has resistor's built in to them. This means that the CanBus know's there is a bulb there. It still uses less energy than conventional bulbs tho, it's just fooling the CanBus.

About to put on a set of 100 ohm 10 watt resistors but don't know if theyl keep my light off
Turn out the cold-diagnostic for your licence plate via VCDS
Do they have built in resistors ? I have led bulbs installed on my 08 passat and i get no errors !
use CAN-BUS bulb like I have in my passat
