Its the fine tuning step that makes this the BEST BOX JOINT JIG VIDEO on UA-cam - So simple, yet so crucial. Thanks David
Picciuto for the WIN!!
David, that was probably the BEST tutorial that I've seen for a box joint jig without a dado stack!
I cannot wait to be able to walk out to my shop and put this jig together.
You rock, Brother!
I totally dig how down and dirty this tutorial was; simple yet effective. Editing must have been a breeze and I love that. Sometimes it's the simplest video tutorials that I get the most out of. It felt like you said, "hey, come on over. I've got something cool to show you" and we were right there with you in your shop. Thanks for keeping it real Mr. Picciuto.
I have seen people like Jimmy do similar jigs but i have never seen anyone break it down like that to seem so simple. Nice job.
This is great! I've been wanting to make a box joint jig for a while now but, haven't invested the time to do so. This is such a clever solution. I'll definitely adding this to my existing sled. Thanks David!
Looks like a very straightforward easy to follow process. I just watched your video on how to do it with a router and I think I'm going to try that first. I missed out on buying a Porter-Cable dovetail jig so now I'm going to make box joints using your method. Thank you so much David I love the videos!
Great video Dave. This is the simplest explanation of the setup, adjustment, and use of a box joint jig that I've ever seen. Definitely need to make one now. Thanks!!
Dave, this is one of the best jig videos, explained a lot and how to troubleshoot. Great job!
GREAT tutorial David. This really shows that if you are starting out you don't have to buy fancy tools/jigs etc. I think if you start out with something like your jig, you learn the basics that make you a better wood worker in the future. Thanks again! !! !!!
The fact that you point out that the top needs to always face the pin makes this so easy! Thank you thank you. Made my first box/box joint today. Could not have done it without you!!!
David, This is immensely helpful. Thank you for what you do. Love the podcast as well. You guys make a great trio.
I've always struggled with box joints, but this video helped so much. Marking the tops and then face the pin, SO helpful!~
Finally! Someone explained it so clear... Very informative! Best combination of explaining the concept + putting in practice. Thanks
Just wanted to say i finally got my shop teacher to show one of your vids in class and everyone loved it. Now were ganna do bandsaw boxes as a class project
Whoa! That's so cool! Thanks!
That a big ‘ol win right there! This shop teacher (me) says kudos!
@@MakeSomething I'm a shop teacher and I learn from your videos every day.
Love this video! Recently married and in our first home in Southeast, KY. So, opening a wood working shop by spring for extra income. This video helps simplify box joint production. Thanks to you, I'll have another skill to help privide for my family!
Man I have watched tons of these videos. FINALLY!!!! Someone has explained it throughly. This was awesome. This video made it so easy to understand. Thanks Dave!!!
So much learning just happened in my head. I love these, David. All that info, no fluff. Wham. Bam. Thank you, ma’am! Great video.
Do It amen!
My favorite box-joint video. This one is a huge help, and keeps things simple. So many videos are about making the jig rather than about actually buiding the joint.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! We've seen several videos on box joint jigs but you are the first person to explain how to cut the top and bottom of the box as well as how to space the fingers out correctly! You are so da man!
PhunKiss Artistic Creations I second this. No ones clearly explained how to line up the joints until this video.
The Clearest,Easy to understand B/J vid I have seen yet, GREAT JOB!
Best explanation ever! Really the simplest jig and method i've seen!
I can't tell you how many box joint videos I've watched... This is the best, most clear explanation of what to do and how to do it!
True !!! Very instructive video. And thank you for taking time to explain how to make it with a single blade : dado stacks are forbidden in my country (to my knowledge, no tablesaw sold in France can be equipped with dado blades). I think I am ready to build my own jig.
Great video.
Ditto! Thanks for always giving simple, clear instructions that we
"weekend" warriors can understand and follow.
Ain't it the truth...wonderfully well explained. Thanks
I agree Donald Powell. Easily explained.
I love the Roy and Norm Caricatures in the background!!!
This reminds me.
I actually found your channel a few years ago while looking up how to cut finger joints. Been watching since then.
Excellent video! I watched it several times and then built my own jig. It works great. This has stepped up my wood working game. Thanks for sharing.
Great demo! Great information! You've simplified making a box-joint jig about as much as it can be simplified.
Aww Dude!! David you save me from going loony!!! the marks on top always facing the pin..... Sweet!! thank you for sharing . Keep up the great work!!
watched it handful more time and took notes. Like a Wood Craft class for free I'm going to get all I need and make it happen thank you Dave. That's love to a rookie woodworker.
Built this jig, made box joints for the first time, worked perfectly.
Thank you sir!
Thank you!!! I had tremendous success making box joints for the first time, thanks to you and this video. Much appreciated! You explain the nuances in a way no one else does. Thanks for making a straight-to-the-point, but with all the real-life practical details video. Thumbs-up and subscribed!
Out of all the vids I have looked at this is the best presentation so far. And explained in easy terms . Thankyou !
You took some of the mystery out of this. Great video, David!
Thank you for a simple and straightforward video. Box joint jigs do not need to be complicated and you proved that here.
I really want to thank you for your time in making this video. You are simple, don’t waste a lot of time trying to impress me, and use real tools that most of us have. One of the better finger joint jig videos out there. One tip-most standard saw blades are 1/8th inch. Instead of cutting that finger, out of wood, consider using an old drill bit for the key. If the jig is used in a router table, a corresponding router bit (1/4”) can be used.
Probably the simplest explanation of a box joint jig I have ever seen. Nice job.
Nice to see a British flag on the wall. A big thumbs up from England, U.K. !
this method was by far the best way all the other people would say that they had the simplest way to make a finger joint jig. I found that they did to much measuring and cutting to be what they called simple. I was waiting for this method to be shown. finally a true quick method with a single blade! thank-you.
Quick and Dirty. Absolutely my favorite way.
Thanks! I’ll get to this once I’m done with my miter saw station and other organization projects.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen someone explain thoroughly how to make and use one of these jigs. Really, really helpful, thanks very much David.
Richard Martin I second this ^
I really like this video David! The way you explained the process was spot on. Filled in several gaps for me!
you nailed it bro. seen more than a few box joint jig vids, a lot of which have "easy" or "simple". This seems pretty fool proof as long as you have material, a table saw and a mitre guage.
As many have said, best box joint jig video, clear and concise thanks David
I came to this video via a link of Badger's workshop, just today. I've seen many of your videos but this one probably not. (I didn't have a table saw that time)
This video is so perfect. Thanks for sharing. I think this will be one of the first table saw jigs, as soon as I made a setup for my table saw. (it's still in the box)
It took me 3 years to buy a table saw. I hope it'll be out of the box sooner than another three years.
Always innovative !! I shake my head and think...so ' simple ' ! The ' so difficult ' part is coming up with the design ! A + again David !
I’m a boogie woodworker before I was struggling making this joint but after your explanation I’ve just got my head round it thank you so much love your videos
Javid Patel same here actually.
Thank you for explaining it so well. I have watched many vids. None explained how to stagger the cuts from one side to the perpendicular side. The entire vid was easy to understand. I am a machinist who is taking up wood working as a hobby. I will be watching your videos. Thanks again
AWESOME VIDEO!!! Super simple to do! Thanks for creating this video, I can't wait to go try it for myself!!!
Awesome video!! I've watched several videos on how to make box joint jigs and you are the only one to show how to cut all ends to make the complete box. Thank you!!!!
David I just found this box joint video, much simpler and practical than what I was thinking thanks! Keep educating us.
all. Again thanks.
dude! so simple it's genus! thank you for what you do!
Great information! Thank you for sharing and making it simple to understand. I've been wanting to do finger joints for a while but thought I needed to spend $$$ to get a good set up. Now I know that's not true and will still have consistent results!
I’ve watched a lot of finger joint videos. I think this is the first one that says how to use the jig in terms of aligning the pieces. Thanks for the great video.
Man... So simple and YOU are such a good Teacher!
Great video Dave! I’ve watched so many box joint jig videos and this is hands down the best one and takes all of the guess work out so good!

I've watched video after video, and yours is the absolute best video! You're very, very good at showing and explaining things. Great teacher!!! Worked wonderfully. Thank you!
Thanks for posting this. You made it look a lot easier to make than some others. Appreciated the tip about the saw blade.
Loved how you got straight to the point and made it simple to understand. You've got yourself a new subscriber! Thanks for sharing your skills.
Now that was a handy dandy video! Thank you sir! I'll be using these this week! Super ultra excellent
My dad had a restoration and refinishing shop. He had a great old woodworker that worked for him and did most of the restoration. It was the 80s and all of the machines had almost no safety and were overpowered so my dad didn't let me do a lot with the power tools. Of course I became very proficient at sanding. I also became proficient at finishing. Sadly my dad passed before I could get into all of those power tools and 40 years later I have managed to put a few tools together and am practicing my woodworking skills almost every day. I tell you all of this because I am picking up lots from your videos and wanted to say thanks and I appreciate what you do. Have an awesome day. BTW I plan on using these finger joints on some small keep sake boxes I will give away for Christmas.
Right on, thank you! I love that your woodworking has a connection to your past. It makes it so much more meaningful. Enjoy it!
Similar experience as you. Except for me my grandfather was really old school and didn't care as much so I was using power tools with very little supervision at way too young. But I guess thankfully because almost 40 years later I have my own business. Keep at it and maybe you can make some money at it
Very cool. The tips and tricks are always greatly appreciated!! You are an inspiration to me.
Thank you for making this so simple
Great video! the best explanation of this process I have seen yet. Thanks for making this.
