@@CelalUnal1Good evening Sir! I am a fan of your work, Love all your vids about the woods. I just want to ask if you are accepting a little project from a private customer like me?
I've been a woodworker for 35 years and this is about the best representation of the types of joints one can make that I think I've seen. even shows how to fix a mistake. Well done.
Hey Rich, I build large speaker boxes, and I love leaving the natural wood finish on them. I'm really wanting to add the x- style spline joints ( dovetails and dowels too) to my large finished boxes instead of just using screws and glue. Any recommendations on how to add these to an already finished large box as a finishing touch? I saw a track style jig for my DeWalt Palm router that would allow you to clamp up to the corner of a big box and then run the router over the corner perfectly through. Would this be your recommended way? I'm getting excited thinking about the beautiful visual impact of those x-splines, dovetails, and dowels alternating on my faceplates. Some of them are very high power systems and I need that extra strength from more glue surface and want that aesthetic appeal too. Any advice greatly appreciated 👍
I really appreciate how Celal and other UA-camrs have solved the language barrier so artfully with their skillful video production. I'm sure a lot of thought went into it.
This is probably the best miter corner methods I’ve seen in a while. My favorite are the splines with “x” pattern. Also, the jig you used with the router to make dove tails is legit. You did those so fast with the jig. All of those alternatives were awesome! Thanks for sharing!!
@@CelalUnal1 I would love adding the x splines as a finishing touch to my speaker boxes natural wood finish. Celal, what would be your recommendation to put these on a large already made box instead of putting them on a small piece with a table saw? I saw an example where a guy had a router sled for his palm router and he was doing dovetails across the corners and tapping them through that look great. Any jigs or techniques that you recommend??

I've been looking at many youtube videos for wood crafting ideas and examples. This video was great. A very simple and elegant set of corner joint designs that look beautiful when finished. Also I like how the builder showed us in detail how he made the tools he used to create some of these. Very well made.
You sir are a true educator, you teach by doing, and they learn by watching, which is the way I have educated myself in the 63 years I've been in this world and from the time I was 19 I never looked for a job, being a graphic artist, woodworker and metal fabricator, all the jobs I had over that time came looking for me, and never once went to college, but I can say I'm still learning, even from younger guys like you. Now I'm going out to my shop and create some new jigs, thanks to you, thank you very much
Thank you very much, master. I am very glad that you like it. It's really nice to hear from you. I'm sure there is a lot to learn from you. Regards, greetings, master.
60 years ago I started my apprenticeship as a cabinet maker, my bench master was a Welshman who taught me all of these joints and a few more, but back then we didn't have the hand power tools of today so most of it was by hand. I wish I had a Japanese pull saw for trimming the splines and the small sliding saw would have been handy. You Sir are a true Craftsman and I take my hat off to you. I also liked your technique for filling the overcut dovetail too.
@@CelalUnal1 After your inspiring video, I am looking to buy a Japanese pull saw. What is the exact kind you have here (7:37)? I'm not sure I like the one's with a back "spine" because I would think they might cause a slight bend in the cut when doing something where the spine will hit the workpiece...so I like yours...but can't find it. Thanks so much! Love your video!
@@aaronluckette In fact, each type should be for a separate job. Those with upper keels are very nice for swallow joining. There are also bilateral corners. This can be preferred. Mine is with a thin blade and one-sided. A handy Japanese saw.

And you don’t stop to give yourself screen time and explain - you just do it. And you don’t slow and dumb everything down - we can rewind and pause, so why would you? So many great woodworkers don’t make videos for UA-cam - they make videos for themselves. But this is the kind of video I can learn from and come back to as reference. Btw, we have nearly the same tools, even down to the carpenter’s square. Lol. You showed me what can be done with what I have in ways I hadn’t realized. Thank you!!
This video might just have saved me. I’ve decided to do a complex woodworking project for my dads birthday. I’ve been doing joinery on houses for years but that work is all about speed and it’s not visible so I don’t normally care if you can see the fixings etc. My dad was a woodworking teacher for 30 years so I need some good looking woodwork and I think this video might just help me do that. Thanks!

There’s nothing like hand cut dovetails. That’s on my list of things to learn how to do but will have to start with the basic joints first. Great video!
I don't normally comment about videos, but your examples of different corner joints was extremely entertaining and informational. Fun to watch! Thank you for your efforts. I'm going to try some of these!

I really liked the table saw sled ideas. I also really liked the hand-cut, mitered dovetails near the end. Beautiful work! Hang on until the end for the complete review. I was thinking the same thing he makes it look easy. The amazing thing is the free hand angle drilling imo. I am very good with tools for over 20yrs and I would likely mess up one myself. That jig he made up is really awesome as well. Great video !
Kudos to you, big time. No boring music, story telling, advertising or self-promoting, pets wandering around, lame jokes, etc. Straight to the point and simple to understand. Creative indeed, and just let the vid tell the whole story. My critique, however, is that not all examples are simple because they involve more tools, making jigs, and lots of cutting.
Many times in the past, I have admired the joints made by others and wondered how they did it. This guy, without saying a word, made the perfect video about doing just that! He made it look so simple. But mainly, by this video, he gave me the simplest but the best joints imaginable! He's a genius!
Beautiful work! Some of my earliest memories are of sitting on the workbench & watching my Dad carefully chisel out dovetail joints... it was in the days way before table saws, but 60+ years later those drawers are still 100% solid, no matter the rough treatment from 5 kids.

Wow! By the time this video came up in my feed, it was more than a year old. You are a master. All done with a make shift vice, a job site tablesaw , chisel and a Japanese pull saw. Beautifully presented too. Subscribed. Thank you for all that content.
I don't understand This video was posted on Jan 19, 2021, but it first "came up in your feed more than a year old" when it's only Nov 14, 2021? Is this a re-upload of the original video? I'm only curious and asking to see if I'm missing something; thanks.

Celal you are good, after watching this i went out and bought a small table saw and a router and going to try some of the joints, i have to build some jigs before i try any thing
Such a delight to rediscover valuable and high quality content on UA-cam. Come in such short supply these days. Keep it up!!! Thank you so much for sharing, you’re a star
The box joint is strongest. Greatest glue contact surface area. The wood grain is all bonded at right angles and all face grain. The mitre with diagonal dowels could be very good at transferring stress out over a wider area, so the load acting on the corners doesn’t reach the breaking point of the wood and glue.
got here because of mysterious youtube algorithms, even though I know nothing about woodworking. but the video is very well made and it's weirdly therapeutic. thank you.
There are 663 jealous people who couldn't do what this guy does, so they give this a thumbs down. Extremely well done, and I love the music at the end. I will definitely be making some of these! My favorite is at the 7:00 mark. Thanks for the tutorial!

Wow! By the time this video came up in my feed, it was more than a year old. You are a master. All done with a make shift vice, a job site tablesaw , chisel and a Japanese pull saw.
Beautifully presented too.
Subscribed.
Thank you for all that content.
Thank you so much. I am very glad you liked it.
I don't understand This video was posted on Jan 19, 2021, but it first "came up in your feed more than a year old" when it's only Nov 14, 2021?
Is this a re-upload of the original video? I'm only curious and asking to see if I'm missing something; thanks.
Круто! Эстетический выбор дело вкуса каждого человека. Интересно практическое применение. К этому видео добавить часть с испытанием на прочность, цены бы не было! Автору однозначно лайк!

What is it that you’re finishing your wood with..? I love how brilliant it makes the wood look.
that is oil (Osmo etc)
I used wax oil.

Thank you so much. I am very glad that you like it.
Awesome! It would be so nice to see a strength test on these joints to see which is strongest.
Thank you so much. I am very glad that you like it. You are right, you need to make a test video.
Büyük ustasın kardeşim tebrik ederim.Eline sağlık.
Çok teşekkür ederim. Beğendiğine çok sevindim.
got here because of mysterious youtube algorithms, even though I know nothing about woodworking. but the video is very well made and it's weirdly therapeutic. thank you.
