“Our preferred way of doing business is through direct engagement with our employees” 🙄 Aka we prefer it when the power dynamic is heavily in our favour.
I worked for a contractor at Amazon and they are not being truthful. I have seen the managers shouting at staff as well as standing behind them if they don't meet targets. I have seen staff threatening suicide and locking themselves in the toilets. In fact a manager tried once to abuse me and I had pull him down a peg or two. Yet Amazon does have great facilities for staff far beyond other employers. Yet this doesn't make up for disrespecting a person.
Smug egos - The body language from both of these Amazon execs speaks for itself - I thank humanity that I have and would never turn out to be anything like those guys. Do these people have even the common decency to be ashamed of themselves at their performance in front of the committee and their obvious level of evasiveness along with their obvious levels of spin - Shameful.
It is a shame how bad they are lying they need some Amazon employees in there to tell them how it is Yes we can't leave our routes we have to pee in bottles because sometimes we're so far away from any store anything like 15 minutes and they tell us that we cannot use the bathroom or do anything before we finish 30 stops we can't use the bathroom or do anything after 4:30 sometime those 30 stops is like 50 60 because they are group stops so each stop have two to five houses each stop
Its incredibly frustrating that we never found out in amazons view why the workers are on strike. When companies say they will write to MP's we the electorate never get to see the response.
Nice one, Liam. Direct questions and no tolerance for their deliberate evasion. The way they are treating our workers is abhorrent and their continued evasion of tax is a disgusting inequity. They must be made to answer for it. This was positively agonising to watch (it seemed like you were talking to brain-washed cultists) but the committee didn't take any shit. This is what we like to see. Some iron. That's to be commended. Well done.
Absolutely painful viewing I hate the corporate capitalists who maximise profit at the expense of workers and rights as that is capitalism’s modus operandi profit by any means necessary
Plus this woman from Amazon needs to learn what the hawthorn effect is? Within workplaces especially those where there is an element of fear or precariousness workers will lie to their employers as that is what is believed is expected of them
What do you expect in a country where charity chief execs earn a hundred thousand plus and academy heads 200 k. Greed is everywhere from top to bottom.
It's all it's all about the packages a man almost died last night they don't care they will just keep pushing you and pushing you you will tell him that you sick or whatever and they don't care they'll keep pushing you Right now my ankle is messed up my neck messed up my all messed up and back messed up they don't care you don't get no sick days you have to plan your sick days 2 weeks in advance if not you will get written up for calling out for being sick even with the doctor's note or they'll take you off the road for some days and they call that penalizing you
They understand that you have no power and they(particularly Kearney) are making it clear that they give zero fks. This is what happens when you allow corporations to run the show. If I'm wrong could somebody please enlighten me.. In summary, ZERO accountability ZERO fks given
I worked at an Amazon fulfillment center in Rugeley as a Packer and the conditions were extremely hot even during winter, there is no AC, Airport like Security, insane Targets, Strike/point system so if you're late you get i think is like half a point, if you miss targets it's another half point or a full 1 point and eventually if you get to a certain amount they fire you. Alot are employed through Agencies.
Bro the packrate is nothing you are just an idiot. The rate is so slow. People stand around talking and on their phones all day at their stations. I stg you cant be forreal
Hang on why did you allow them to get away with the employees voted 87% they would recommend working for Amazon, via the equipment they use at work , how on earth is that ANONYMOUS!
It’s so interesting how they are painting a utopia about their business and business models … even though they are on panel for the complete and or nearly complete opposite* Cheer up, UK Amazon workers!!! Your justice is coming ♥️✨
When you speak to employees? You mean the managers little favourites who wouldn't have a bad word to say about the company. Management are awful and couldn't do the job of the workers
I fail to see how a company who has been called to answer questions fails so miserably at preparing to answer simple questions e.g WHY employees went on strike the NUMBER of meetings they had. "Let me get back to you" would never hold up in a court of law so why would it here?
It should be illegal to not answer questions and go off track while being questioned, those two from Amazon are a disgrace to humanity. I appreciate they love the money they are paid, but it’s blood money.
"It's unfair to correlate ambulance callouts and whether an environment is safe or not safe" What a load of bollocks. Considering you just said you had competent first-aiders on site, this means it is probably a lot less safe than the ambulance callouts would suggesst.
The reason they're not finding lies in bottles in their vans, they made them get rid of it before they came back. The young comedian Joe Lycett has an excellent expose on here.
I hate her "I reject the premise of your question." The question is, is Amazon a dangerous place to work & is the company doing everything it can to keep their employees safe. Asking employees survey questions about if they'd recommend working for Amazon is irrelevant & pure deflection. So that means she knows it's dangerous but refuses to even acknowledge it's a possibility.
I would be interested to see if similar Amazon facilities/buildings had increase in their workers during the May-June period of 2023. Also I do not believe they did not know the reason for the Coventery strike, they must have known they would get asked that so either they lied or intentionally avoided that information to claim ignorance so that it was not said in so public a forum
Why thank them to begin ? and why wouldn't employees have a chance to be there to actually give the information thats required by question ? ( That they either cant give or deliberately fail to give ) To contradict any false statements given. Id also like Amazon to be able to site individuals. For example 'John' Employee No. A1234... states on 1st October they received a raise and promotion.... that Amazon provided days off due a family Incident etc etc ... I dont like the Ambiguous nature of ' its been my experience that employees love the environment etc etc'
This is what low costs and good service means. If you don’t like it, don’t buy from Amazon. Simple enough. How many people did making our apple devices, refining our fuel, getting our fish ?
With they are talking about with the scholarships and help you with college and all that that is for the Amazon workers that's in the warehouse not the drivers or the DSPs and have the people who try to do it they only put up like $1,500 or something like that they don't put up nothing that's compared to the actual price of what it cost
Nice of your committee to try and challenge these despicable people, but you are getting no where at all not surprised, I myself would not wish.for any friend or enemy to work there ever,
One of the ladies had got bit by Doug real bad real bad she was crying everything and she was just saying like they told me I had to come to work I'm not hurt but it hurts so bad she was crying everything so she eventually quit
I have the text message they sent out if you have a broke phone don't call and ask for any other phone or anything we do not have any more phones for you or any more equipment so you will have to delegate between the phone and your personal phones in order to get it done but you must get it done or something like that but I have the text message
😂😂😂this people don’t know what is happening under the roof they are coming from another planet , quality is very very poor inside , safety is same also now they also take decisions instead of companies to kick out the drivers they don’t perform well even if that drivers are not contracted by them 😂😂😂 without even ask an opinion they just purely kick out anyone they want without any explanation
Maybe the government can focus on growth rather than workers striking and trade unions. Trade unions and UK government just waste money and cost the people more money.
28-30k minimum for zero expected skills and packing a box… come on people get a grip 😂 some people working 60 hours and getting £4200 a month pre tax… again for having zero skills and packing boxes
You need to make them swear an oath to tell the truth before they talk to a committee, then if they don't tell the truth it becomes perjury.
then act upon this ... IE proscecute
“Our preferred way of doing business is through direct engagement with our employees” 🙄

It goes right to the top, Bezos is a greedy man.
Management: everything is Amazing. Employee: no its not.
30:50 I've never seen anyone look so pleased with themselves for giving such a stupid answer
The guy behind her shaking his head in disbelief 😂
7:14 “I don’t recognize the claim that workers urinate in bottles“ “it’s a common myth”…in the same sentence
Can they bring Workers to the conversation??????????.
Why even have these hearings if you're not going to hold these criminals in contempt?
Smug egos - The body language from both of these Amazon execs speaks for itself - I thank humanity that I have and would never turn out to be anything like those guys.
Do these people have even the common decency to be ashamed of themselves at their performance in front of the committee and their obvious level of evasiveness along with their obvious levels of spin - Shameful.
It is disgusting to see their smug faces and loosely respond with a robotic answer under the workers they take advantage daily!
How great a lesson in not answering directly to the question!
Considering that young lad did the Channel 4 doc proving exactly what you say here IE the dirty filled bottles
They would be too frightened, because you can guarantee, there would be repercussions!
Its incredibly frustrating that we never found out in amazons view why the workers are on strike. When companies say they will write to MP's we the electorate never get to see the response.
They went on strike for more pay
@@christineblackaby3531 And better conditions.

35:15 the guy sat at his laptop.... facepalm... we feel it too brother...

In my experience, Amazon only gave staff 5min to leave their station go to the toilet and return.
With a 10 minute walk to the toilet?
Liam , how could they be communicating with GMB for two years but cant tell you why GMB are striking?
I can remember reading a report on ?The Canary?. That they actively avoid face to face negotiations.
Straight to it, no delaying. Well done
1400 times for ambulance in 5 years. That's almost 1 ambulance daily. That's ridiculous
I had five carts 31 bags 47 overflow 414 packages and had to be done it didn't it took me 12 hours I didn't get off until 9:00
What's the point in this when they never answer questions with direct actual answers and always just obfuscate and delay?
They understand that you have no power and they(particularly Kearney) are making it clear that they give zero fks. This is what happens when you allow corporations to run the show. If I'm wrong could somebody please enlighten me.. In summary, ZERO accountability ZERO fks given
Literally dodging every question and that’s legal?
I worked at an Amazon fulfillment center in Rugeley as a Packer and the conditions were extremely hot even during winter, there is no AC, Airport like Security, insane Targets, Strike/point system so if you're late you get i think is like half a point, if you miss targets it's another half point or a full 1 point and eventually if you get to a certain amount they fire you. The guys who do deliveries are forgotten here!
And their costs !!!
Hang on why did you allow them to get away with the employees voted 87% they would recommend working for Amazon, via the equipment they use at work , how on earth is that ANONYMOUS!
Can someone explain what will actually come of any of this? Like, will Amazon (and other megacorps) actually ever be forced to change or restricted?
I worked there for 8 days.
It’s so interesting how they are painting a utopia about their business and business models … even though they are on panel for the complete and or nearly complete opposite*
Cheer up, UK Amazon workers!!!
Your justice is coming ♥️✨
When you speak to employees? You mean the managers little favourites who wouldn't have a bad word to say about the company. Management are awful and couldn't do the job of the workers
We need to get tougher with big business. Corporate arrogance at its worst.
The fact that the committee allows them to get away with this word soup bullshit is a disgrace. These Amazon representatives are morons.
This is the future for the UK workers. No future
This is outrageous but the bottom line is nothing will happen an they know it...maybe we could give them an even bigger tax cut
It’s not, an anonymous tracking system, they hire an external company to call employees to discuss it, that data is fed straight back to the company
Why are they STRIKING not answering the question!!!
The HR guy should know. They are the henchmen!
The smug looks on their faces after blurting out the most obvious corporate lie is obnoxious
Honestly she needs to stop smiling, serious matters being discussed
Has the HSE served any improvement notices ?
I fail to see how a company who has been called to answer questions fails so miserably at preparing to answer simple questions e.g WHY employees went on strike the NUMBER of meetings they had. "Let me get back to you" would never hold up in a court of law so why would it here?

My friend has worked there for 3 yrs and has only just annual leave approved she put in JANUARY 2024 DEC she gets it approved 🤦♀️
The reason they're not finding lies in bottles in their vans, they made them get rid of it before they came back. The young comedian Joe Lycett has an excellent expose on here.
these are full of wool .. I know many people who work there safety is not their first safety metric.
Why is she smiling non-stop ?
A visit to their building would be staged as an mp you should know this!
As MPs never answer questions, why get upset when others don’t.
I hate her "I reject the premise of your question." The question is, is Amazon a dangerous place to work & is the company doing everything it can to keep their employees safe. "If we replace them all with robots there will not be a need for safety at work nor unions"
This is not the best place ever worked I cannot call off for they say if you need a sick day you going to have to apply for 2 weeks in advance
I work in Amazon Studios it’s the same thing I can’t take sick days they make use my PTO, I had no idea when signing my contract I had agreed to that.
Amazon tax deal. Jeff Besos pays £1 for every hair folical he's got. 😂
Stuart Morgan loves to reinforce
They come across like the Post Office Scandel Witnesses.
Unworkable conditions , What about unlivable conditions hmmm 🧐
There was a documentary on this 🤥
These two just sit high level, they are not boots on the ground
This is what low costs and good service means. If you don’t like it, don’t buy from Amazon. Simple enough. How many people did making our apple devices, refining our fuel, getting our fish ?
It was recorded 😣
1400 times over 5 years - wow. They need a full time a&e on their sites. That’s shocking
The 2 witnesses just make me angry.
With they are talking about with the scholarships and help you with college and all that that is for the Amazon workers that's in the warehouse not the drivers or the DSPs and have the people who try to do it they only put up like $1,500 or something like that they don't put up nothing that's compared to the actual price of what it cost
Amazon are like modern-day pit owners, making a fortune of their workers and treating them with contempt
Nice of your committee to try and challenge these despicable people, but you are getting no where at all not surprised, I myself would not wish.for any friend or enemy to work there ever,

“Immensely grateful” … ?!? Does he have a side job with amazon ..
#boycottamazon
Only thing they give us is chicken sandwiches and I don't want it I told them many times what are you trying pay me off with a damn chicken sandwich
So this is where my taxes go? What an utter shower of shit. It should be 3 strikes, and you are out.
A pure exercise in egoism
This committee are an irrelevance, an indication of corporate disdain for incompetent politicians
I have the text message they sent out if you have a broke phone don't call and ask for any other phone or anything we do not have any more phones for you or any more equipment so you will have to delegate between the phone and your personal phones in order to get it done but you must get it done or something like that but I have the text message
What a vageness they talk in.
😂😂😂this people don’t know what is happening under the roof they are coming from another planet , quality is very very poor inside , safety is same also now they also take decisions instead of companies to kick out the drivers they don’t perform well even if that drivers are not contracted by them 😂😂😂 without even ask an opinion they just purely kick out anyone they want without any explanation
corpspeak as a mask
They are soo full of shit
Yeah they can probably provide for there families as long as they go to B and M bargains or home bargains! Lol 😆
Pair of grifting liars, doing anything for their cheque.
Did Liam really say 50 thousand people work at the Houses of Parliament.
I can understand 15 thousand but not 50.
I work at Amazon and really enjoy it tbh.
Maybe the government can focus on growth rather than workers striking and trade unions. Trade unions and UK government just waste money and cost the people more money.
😮😮
28-30k minimum for zero expected skills and packing a box… come on people get a grip 😂 some people working 60 hours and getting £4200 a month pre tax… again for having zero skills and packing boxes
Select committee using BBC and guardian findings ,oh dear
What’s wrong with that? Are they the wokearati?
What would you use?.Daily fail? 😂😂😂😂
Amazon is a disgraceful company to work for. They blocked my app because i was stuck in traffic! Never again deleted all their apps.
