Answer: “The corporate elitists who run Amazon are leaving workers with no choice. Greedy executives are pushing thousands of hardworking people to the brink." Official statement from the union about the strike.
Thank you. The union has to remain within the law and clearly they do only then will they battle for their workers. Keep in mind the workers pay their monthly fee to the union and when required the union will battle for them. Join a union as to take on an employer as one single person will get you nowhere. Collective majority will.
I just cancelled my Amazon subscription because there was an utterly contemptible refusal to answer every simple question answer. 5 million Brits should cancel their subscription too. Then they WILL answer.
Amazon is convenient, but I'd rather shop more meaningfully. Not sure many larger retailers are necessarily any better, but makes me at least think more about purchases I make and where my moneys going. Great name David Robertson!
If that’s how they behave on camera in public view, imagine how much worse they are behind closed doors at work. Absolutely vile and revolting behaviour- they should be ashamed.
Parliamentary committees... about as much use as a chocolate fireguard! If this was a small business they would be interviewed under caution by police and, possibly, go to court. But, because it's a multinational corporation with huge profits, it goes to a Parliamentary committee where they just evade every important question, and nothing happens!
Outrageous did not answer the question. What is more than outrageous is that they do not want to answer the reason as to why the workers go on strike so much. They must know the reasons and yet get away with avoiding the answer. Extremely arrogant smirking and full of contempt. Ends with we will write back
Amazon workers in America have no rights and management treats them with contempt, that attitude was on display especially by the American female who no doubt has the corporate mindset and resents being questioned.
Although I agree they dodged answering the question, but how ironic that the politicians were frustrated that someone had the audacity to dodge answering a question.😂😂
At the start when the guy repeated the question that he’d obviously at that point, asked several times before, the response from the woman was classic stupidity. She smiled and nodded like a docile animal and laughed like she had never heard that language before 😂 the word “you Moron” came to mind immediately after seeing that. I really feel sorry for that committee to have to put up with such corporate nonsense. Shame on her! Be a better person and either be honest and then look to make the changes needed or get another job to save your own integrity 🙂
They're cherry picking the 1% of people, who probably report directly in to them, say that it's a great place to work. The vast, vast majority clearly think they're over worked and grossly underpaid, for the hours they're being made to work with little to no breaks with the Xmas orders and pressures in the warehouses.
I cancelled my Amazon Prime subscription 3 years ago because I did not feel comfortable with their business model. The manner in which these two senior managers avoided answering the questions is quit staggering and there should be consequences for both them and Amazon.
and there you have it. Lying through their teeth because legally they can obfuscate their way through all these questions and they know it. So what is the point in these committees. There should be some legal way of ordering them to answer.
So … they track and time (probably) the entire supply and delivery service) so that productivity is maximised, yet they dont know the reason why all those man hours were lost due to strike action? That is complete and utter bull**** and they should be ashamed.
There is shameless gaslighting, and then there's this. If this is how they treat Members of Parliament imagine how they disrespect Health and Safety Executive inspectors or HMRC compliance officers.
I stopped shopping on Amazon a year ago because living in Ireland they don't even recognise us as a country in the settings so you can imagine what they are like to work for if they even ignore a whole countries existence.
Well, avoiding awkward questions by dancing around them is a tactic that all politicians use when interviewed. How many times have you seen an MP being asked the same question over and over again, but responding only with the answer to a different question?
What’s the point of these puppet shows when there is nothing answered and sitting with smirks on there face and don’t face any consequences.More waste of tax payers money
In not answering the question they have told us everything you need to know. Moreover it went viral so backfired. I actually feel sorry for them a bit. It must be such a culture of fear that they are scared of losing their jobs should they dare not do exactly as their masters say
I always find it hilarious when politicians get annoyed at people not answering the question. Politicians are the masters of not answering the question.
An MP getting frustrated at someone not answering a question? Not even directly? Shock. Welcome to how the entire British population feel about politicians mate. Be better. Do better.
Her ‘grin at everything’ approach is so fake and robotic; believing it disarms the questioner, forcing you to like her. That may work in superficial corporate America but not here, luv.
No one cares. All people care about is if their purchased Amazon item arrives on time and in good condition. I don't mean to be harsh or dismissive but no customer cares what the boss of Amazon says or doesn't say in a Parliamentary committee. And nobody cares about the work conditions at Amazon warehouses. All they care about is the item arriving on time and in good condition.
A politician complaining because the question they asked is not being answered... skating on very thin ice there, as he will find out when he gets his turn as a minister! (Edit: OK, just seen that he's a Lib Dem, so he's never going to be a minister!)
Never mind that nonsense you comment about. You must I would think want to defend workers who are treated like cattle. Maybe not as you prefer to defend those who are the wolves. Stop looking down and start to look up as that is where the distribution of wealth has gone. Humongous greed that is out of control. The me myself and I has to be changed to me and we. If not the majority will survive any way they can and that will follow no wall or security will stop it coming to ones own door. It will affect all eventually regardless of who one is. Underestimate human requirements to live survive at ones own peril.
Is there no way these executives can be held in contempt or something for being essentially hostile witnesses?
Avoidance should be use as contempt in court
The answer is obvious, imagine negotiating with these people.

No you didn’t
Corporate America at its finest. “I don’t have that detail now”. I don’t want to answer that question.
If that’s how they behave on camera in public view, imagine how much worse they are behind closed doors at work. Absolutely vile and revolting behaviour- they should be ashamed.
Smiling Assassins.
Avoidance. Pathetic avoidance. Shows exactly how much respect Amazon has for its workers and this country.
Truly fn disgusting antics by Amazon !!!

People should attempt to review their spending at Amazon after watching this. I certainly am.
Seeing that MPs never answer questions it’s a bit rich for them to expect others to…..
What’s the point of these hearings if they don’t have to answer the questions put to them?
This is how mps should be questioned until they answer
I will not buy off Amazon because they treat their staff with contempt, listen to these responses of these so-called managers they are a disgrace
Amazon workers in America have no rights and management treats them with contempt, that attitude was on display especially by the American female who no doubt has the corporate mindset and resents being questioned.
how do politicians expect anyone to answer a question when they refuse to?
She said that they were back and forth for 2 years but she didn't know what the grievance was? How can they get away with this?
The mp asked good questions but he did not prepare for that.
All he had to do was bring copies of the strike notice with him .
She answered the question as how a mp answers 😂
Then why is he losing it, it's giving a taste of there own medicine 😂😂😂😂
Why are you the only one laughing then?
No. Politicians don’t stonewall to that degree. Stupid comment
If this is what their top brass are like when they are in a fancy parliament select committee hearing, imagine what its like to work for Amazon
That bloke refusing to answer - this is actually an offence of 'contempt for Parliament' - must have served his time in management at the Post Office.
Touche is the word I think.I don't think they want to tell you.
Although I agree they dodged answering the question, but how ironic that the politicians were frustrated that someone had the audacity to dodge answering a question.😂😂
These guys should be held in contempt.
At the start when the guy repeated the question that he’d obviously at that point, asked several times before, the response from the woman was classic stupidity. The future for UK workers
And thats why these committees are viewed as toothless..basically we aint going to answer and have a right laugh about it when we head to the pub..
They can't answer why their employees are on strike. They are either lying or incompetent, which is it?
These 'people' should be held in contempt of court for wasting so much time and refusing to answer questions they have been summoned to answer
It’s not a court, they are under no real obligation to even turn up..
surprised to hear a lib dem talk of trade unions. great to see young folk like him in westminster
After what just happened in the US, you would think these corporates would change tac to not come across as so contemptible.
What were those various reasons given by the workers that caused those various strikes over the years?
Neither she nor he will divulge..
MPs left frustrated because people didn't answer their questions...... laughable...... starmer out
They're cherry picking the 1% of people, who probably report directly in to them, say that it's a great place to work.
The vast, vast majority clearly think they're over worked and grossly underpaid, for the hours they're being made to work with little to no breaks with the Xmas orders and pressures in the warehouses.

Don't apologise to them they are contemptible 😡
and there you have it. Lying through their teeth because legally they can obfuscate their way through all these questions and they know it. So what is the point in these committees. There should be some legal way of ordering them to answer.
An mp pushing the point about not answering questions ironically
These people must have gone to the same school as polliticians for how not to answer a question. Just pathetic.
So … they track and time (probably) the entire supply and delivery service) so that productivity is maximised, yet they dont know the reason why all those man hours were lost due to strike action? That is complete and utter bull**** and they should be ashamed.

Thing is had they told the truth. Layed out how they will fix the issues people would give them for respect.
These people are not accountable to you. They know they aren't. Why is that not clear to you. 😂
The man in the audience in the background shaking his head spoke volumes 🏴
They earned their biscuit for the day. Another day of the few winning over the many.
Colluding with each other
Don’t you wish one could say ‘WHY so strange’ … unfortunately, this is more ‘WHY OH WHY so usual’..
They are just doing what Starmer, Reeves, Khan do all the time…….not nice is it!
So like the MPs and not answering a question then
He’s asking terrible questions. Too long. Not succinct.
The committee has just been Bezosed legally Amazon has to recognize the union what they don’t want is to actually communicate with them
Get rid of amazon,,ruined our high streets.
I stopped shopping on Amazon a year ago because living in Ireland they don't even recognise us as a country in the settings so you can imagine what they are like to work for if they even ignore a whole countries existence.

PM hopefully learns from this questions need answers
I always find it hilarious when politicians get annoyed at people not answering the question. Politicians are the masters of not answering the question.
She's been watching starmmer on how to evade a question
The full thing is available online!
Why is Amazon allowed to charge £12.99 plus Postage for 4 first class stamps , surely this is illegal ?
An MP getting frustrated at someone not answering a question? Not even directly? Shock. Welcome to how the entire British population feel about politicians mate. Be better. Do better.
Politicians don’t stonewall as much as that ‘mate’. Stop recycling stereotypes and do better yourself
Nobody working at Amazon is compelled to be there. They're clearly an appalling employer. In that situation I'd be all-out to find a job elsewhere.
And if you can't?
When Israel is asked about their war crimes against Palestine…
Grubs
Her ‘grin at everything’ approach is so fake and robotic; believing it disarms the questioner, forcing you to like her. That may work in superficial corporate America but not here, luv.
Just get them to pay there tax please
No one cares. All people care about is if their purchased Amazon item arrives on time and in good condition. Now the politicians know how it feels...
Pot kettle black 😂
mp? hes 13 or something
I believe you are mistaken: Joshua Reynolds, MP is twenty-five years old.
I have worked for toxic American companies and horrible « managers » like these two… its why I left.
