You can't compare absolute point gaps between drivers in leading teams to midfield/backmarker teams, of course the gaps in the former will be bigger because the potential for points is much higher to begin with. When you can only realistically get 1-4 points per race you're not gonna build much of an absolute gap. You also forgot Piastri being 82 points behind Norris if you wanna use flawed metrics like that. In reality, Leclerc scored 1.23x Sainz's points while Alonso scored 2.91x Stroll's points and Max scored 2.88x Perez's points. The Leclerc/Sainz gap isn't even that far off the Russell/Hamilton one in relative terms (1.10x). Sainz was not dropped for performance reasons, they just couldn't pass up on Hamilton.

@andyrules999 if Hamilton is getting worse then I wonder what Mr.GP2 engine is doing in F1 still, especially considering he hasn't won a race in going on 12 years now.
Leclerc will be up the front, Lewis as of this year, will be at the head of the mid field, no better. As a Ferrari supporter since the 80s, this has to be one of the dumbest driver signings. Most of which come from a different era of regs, and his form since never looked like it did in the hybrid era. A good portion of that is down to Mercedes absolutely soiling it at the start of the ground effect era, but we're 3 years in now and while the Merc still isn't the top car, George has been getting (slightly) more out of it.
But who knows, maybe a better car will help him find back to his peak form. Charles won't make it easy though.
Then why was he handily beaten in the last few races by Russell and over the season lost 19-5 to russell? If he's struggling with Russell, I am scared what happens when he is paired with Leclerc.
Leclerc will beat him on a constant basis. I only hope he will also win a world championship as well, and that Ferrari will not have a Hamilton-Rosberg 2025-2026...But knowing the size of Hamilton's ego, he will not be enjoying the constant number 2 status on the timesheets... it will be fun to watch... but risky for Ferrari...
Yeah keep dreaming lil bro Lewis will crash Leclerc and expose him for how overated he is
@onlyviralvibes8386 This will not age well. See you in 12 months.

Unpopular opinion: Hamilton will call it a day before the end of the season.
Agreed, he is a changed man, seems dispirited or melancholic . Sad to see. But I hope Im wrong and he turns it around and achieves 3 more championships to end with 10 would be fantastic.
I'd say If it doesn't go well for him by the end of the 2026 season, bear in mind the rule change. he may retire then.

@evilzzzability Another Hamilton hater, Hamilton will beat Leclerc, you must be new to F1.
Lewis will not retire before the new regs

For those crying about Carlos, remember the gap between Alonso and Stroll was smaller than the gap between Carlos and Charles this season, the only gap bigger was Perez and Max. That's 66 point gap is ridiculous, and shows why he was moved on, as McLaren, Red Bull and Renault did before. He has now driven for the big 5 in F1. New age Gerhard Berger.
He got spanked by George, Charles will embarrass him.
Can Hamilton drive the 2024 cars at Fiorano?
No
No, it has to be ar least 2 years old
@@dylanburston7453 thanks. so he can get sone track experience in a current gen car albeit 2 evokes older? I guess the controls are basically the same for systems.

@ thought so. Car time vs sim time. And Ferrari as far as I know are only F1 with their own track.
It’s gonna be strange seeing “44” on the Ferrari lol I wonder if Hamilton will use “1” if he gets a title at that team 🤔

They are allowed to use the 2023 car. So pretty sure they will do that.
I think this can go 2 ways. Either Hamilton is comfortable with the Ferrari's handling and finds his old speed again or he gets destroyed by Leclerc And retires at the end of the season.
If he gets destroyed next season he'd most likely stay for the 2026 rule change. Then decide after that.
Bono should have stayed with Hamilton.
I hope this goes well, but I don't think it will.
I predict that there will be a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth when Hamilton gets trounced by Leclerc. Hamilton is past his prime, Russell proved that in the last couple of seasons.
I't not Hamilton's era. He's not the future and it's only two (three at most) years.
Hamiton, great driver, no doubt..................but with Charle and Carlos finally getting the 'better' Ferarri towards the end of last season, BINGO, what a team. Wondering whether they will lose some of that with Lewis. Still looking forward to '25; I consider the general racing of '24 to be quite good (all the way from the top to deeply into the mid-field).

Hamilton is on the slide, should have just kept Sainz, he did a good job.
Really? Carlos is above average but there are a couple of drivers that could've done the same for us including Hamilton, Gasly, Bottas, I'll even throw Hulkenberg in there too. Carlos did a decent Job, but let's not pretend that he's on the level of Verstappen, Charles, Hamilton, Alonso, or even Bottas, Lando and George.
Hamilton half slide down, is higher than Sainz on his best day IMO
100% agree. Sainz is just getting better, hamilton is getting worse
@andyrules999 if Hamilton is getting worse then I wonder what Mr.GP2 engine is doing in F1 still, especially considering he hasn't won a race in going on 12 years now.
@@bzilla-d4i hamilton finished 7th in a Mercedes, Alonso 9th in a customer team Aston. Who do you think got the most value out of the car?
Leclerc will be up the front, Lewis as of this year, will be at the head of the mid field, no better. As a Ferrari supporter since the 80s, this has to be one of the dumbest driver signings. Yes he won 7 wdc, the last 4 years ago, who cares about his marketing, Ferrari dont need it, this year has clearly shown he is over the hill even though the brtish press wont admit it. Will be a disaster two years for him and the team. Charles and Carlos were a great pairing, probably the best on the grid, wont be next year!
Hamilton has developed great skill in complaining during the last few years. So if the car doesn’t agree to him, he will always have to things two do that he is skilled in: virtue signaling and complaining….

@bzilla-d4i most top sportsmen or sportswomen becomes narcissists because of their success. They forget who is the one that pick and support them through it. They're a major shareholder in Mercedes, so no.
The real winner of the Hamilton move is Mercedes. Hamilton is towards the end of his career and was paid much, much more than Russell. However, the way Russell out raced and outscored Hamilton, made him the value pick for Mercedes. I expect Charles will do a similar thing to Hamilton, and it will inevitably cause friction amongst the team.
