Oh this was an utter joy to listen to and what an incredibly diverse musical lexicon Rick has. He's so incredibly personable and clearly has a talent far greater than his modesty allows him to claim. I was clearly wrong when my wife bought that first album all those years ago and I was so dismissive. Would love to hear a Rockonteurs interview with Thomas Dolby - he's had a very diverse career, from pop music to silicon valley tech startup to academia and I think he'd make a fabulous subject.
Im from Leigh. He used to DJ in Leigh when I was a lad. Leigh cricket Club and the Eagle and child pub spring to mind. It wasn't mentioned but Waterman lived really close to Rick at Lane Head. 2 miles away? Probably why his parents had no problem with Rick going to London with him.
Thank you both for that interview! Its litteraly allmost everything i allways wanted to ask Rick
Another great episode lads. Only discovered you a month or so back and have been binge listening to all of them. Keep them coming…

Me encanta escuchar a Rick Astley siempre. Su música me acompaña desde siempre ❤️❤️🇦🇷
I (think I) can remember Rick playing drums in a band called FBI in the Barleymow pub in Warrington in about 1984. I wonder if my memory is correct?
