Damn right bruh
What a Beauty! Love the fact it has NO LS Motor! Pontiac all the way!
Thanks Curt!
@@FastMonty that's a bad MAMMA JAMMA. Keep that beautiful piece of American 🇺🇸 machinery in your family brother.
@@rolandomota9836 Thanks Rolando! Definitely not selling it.
This is Porn in Sound. Omg love 💘 this GTO
@@animekings4990 Thanks! I love it too...
This is one of my favorite builds. I would take that car over just about every thing out here today. I don’t even think I’ve seen a gto in the last 10 years. These cars are rare to see.
Thanks Brother! Lot's of upgrades since this video... Shawn might have me back soon, for GTO 2.0.
The car community would be a much more pleasant place to be if more people were like Shawn.
GTO, One of the best looking cars ever made.
Agreed! Thanks!
Love the Pontiac engine in the Pontiac car
Thanks Robert!
Love GTOs, you don’t see them as often which makes them even cooler. Bad ass car!
Thanks!
That they were Bad Ass
I've owned my 1970 GTO Convertible, since I was 18, now...umm, a bit older (58).
This is exactly how I'd do my GOAT
Outstanding build...and the BUTLER motor, oh yeah - lusted after their work for many years, the PONTIAC gurus.
Great work, Great video Shawn as always.
If I ever get my '70 Ragtop done like this, I hope to see you to show it off.
Thanks for what you do !
Thanks Shawn! What an awesome time filming this episode... I really appreciate your channel, and helping spread my story. See you soon!
It was great shooting with you and your amazing GTO!
Bitchin gto! When i think of a GTO, this car will always come to mind
@@johngrepo9976 Thanks John!
God bless this man for not dropping an LS into it. This thing is pure sex!
AND the fact that he makes how-to videos for the guys trying to do it themselves is absolutely awesome.
Thanks Kodi!
Agreed 👍
Why are you mad at an LS?
Yes, Thanks for keeping it all PMD
I love the LS but a Pontiac motor is a real Pontiac you would have to one and drive one to nowhere we are coming from.@@chrisreynolds2410
I am in love with this build. So cool that he went with a Butler Performance Pontiac engine. So clean. Just a beautiful example of a classic GTO.
He made all the right choices on this resto
Thanks !
@@AutotopiaLA agree! Thanks for showcasing it.
@@FastMonty you’re welcome. Beautiful car. Love that green! Just subscribed to your channel and will check out your content. My father-in-law is a big GTO/Pontiac guy. He has a dozen or so GTOs and is currently finishing up the restoration on a ‘70 Judge convertible. It is my biggest regret not being in Illinois to help him now now that I am in Florida for work. Would love to have one like yours in my garage as well.
@@willjam465 Great Story! Welcome to the family... always here to help. Thanks for the comment!
I used to have a triple green 1969 that the prior owner put on 1968 doors since he was a smoker and wanted the vent windows. LOVE how this owner didn't just refuse to go LS, he kept the numbers-matching block--not hard to take these out to a 455 foundation. It's funny how low these things sat stock (i had 1980's Firebird Formula Rally II rims on mine) since so many of us saw these things on Series 70 rubber back when they were just old used cars.
Thanks Albert!
the stance, the wheel/tire combo, the paint, the interior, the motor, the sound! You just don't see enough GTOs get this treatment. AND his dad bought it new?
Agreed! It sits so right.
Thanks! That means a lot... much appreciated!
@@FastMonty Your channel has been amazing to follow, not only with the in depth procedures on things, but also the dilemma's you've encountered along the way help to keep me motivated in hammering out all the little issues on mine. Because of you're channel I just got done painting my motor and followed all your tips, and love how it all turned out.
@@JS-uf3hc Wow! Thanks J! So happy to hear my tips have helped... keep at it! Can't wait to see your build...
Remember when 18s were considered BIG!?
Everything except for the wheels and tire combo is perfect.
@Steve Miller Thanks Steve!
My dad had a 69 GT0, and I loved that car as a kid in the mid 70s....unfortunately he was rear-ended by a drunk driver, and the car was totaled ,my heart was broken, I will never forget it and thought it was the coolest mean looking car ever. When my dad gased it, sometimes it shoved me back in the seat and felt like I was losing my breath during acceleration. My dad had it race modified.
One of the best sounding cars but outstanding GTO. Love it , Great show
Thanks James!
Beautiful GTO inside and out. Love the Dark green.
Thought it was black until light hit it then wow!
Thanks!
Oh My God, awesome Pontiac engine!!!!! SICK
Thanks!
I love the fact that its the original engine but its been modified in a good way
Thanks!
One awesome looking car a real credit to the owner
Thanks Paul!
Oh snap, Ruffian in the house! COOL Pontiac too!!

Thanks Craig! I'm doing my best... ha, ha...
Mike did the GTO exactly as it should be done. Nothing is overly stated. It has the right amount of everything and as others have mentioned it's Poncho powered!! And even above that Mike did all the work himself!! Kudos to Mike for building one sweet ass GTO!!
Thanks Johnny! Means a lot...
Well done.
ohhhhhh, heelllllz yes Butler stomp n romp💪🏼
Ha, ha! Might be my new catch phrase. Thanks!
My name is Mike....I LOVE GTO's.....ironically I ordered my 2001 Dodge Cummins emerald green with tan interior......this car is absolutely perfect.
Thanks Mike! Love your color combo... but, I'm biased. Ha, ha...
Who doesn't love a GTO. That thing is sweet.
Thanks!
I wouldn’t change a thing. That car is perfect. You built and kept it the way you wanted to. Sweet ride.
Thanks Donald!
Man, I'm always a fan of GTOs since childhood. This car is one of the sickest muscle car out there.
Thanks!
So awesome that it was his dad's GTO. Man, so lucky that is possible! I'm a Chevelle guy but I wouldn't hate to have that 69 GTO next to my Chevelle in the garage!
Really cool story with this one Nick. And I’m knocked out by his first attempt at paint...killer ride
Thanks Nick! Yeah, got lucky..
Thank you to all involved to make this video happen! Very enjoyable
Perfect build, with a great story behind it.
Thanks!
love the wheels
Thanks!
@AutotopiaLA Shawn when I was in my early twenties we had a neighbor that had a midnight black Pontiac GTO with a big block in it, just sitting in his yard rotting away and and I asked him for four yrs straight to sell me that GTO and nevertheless he wouldn’t part with his beloved 1970 GTO and it looked killer. Thanks for sharing this video on your UA-cam Show I appreciate you and your team and one of these amazing builders and their builds. One more thing I seriously forgot to mention that GTO I TRIED MY BEST TO PURCHASE FROM MY NEIGHBOR WAS ALL NUMBER MATCHING. I used all uppercase lettering because I get so excited about cars, and I used to rebuild engines and cars, and everyday I wish I had never STOPPED.
Killer Poncho...only thing I would change or add is the split duals tailpipes that were made popular on Trans Ams. They were optional on the GTO, T-34s, and T/As. Nyce!
Thanks!
😍👍 .....I'm at a loss for words!!! The sound, the look, the fact it's set up to corner....that is a beautiful machine!!!!
He killed it on this GTO!
Thanks! It's certainly a blast to drive.
Love that lope! And the tributes on the headrests, too.
Thanks! Dad had to wipe the tears away, when I revealed that.
Not a thing wrong with this ride. Perfect build.
Agreed. Really a great ride
Thanks Daryl!
I've really loved watching your channel grow man. Been watching for a while now.

@@FastMonty One of my all time faves. Good on you fr sticking with the Pontiac eng.
@@chriswalshe499 Thanks Brother!
I love that hollow sound when it's ticking over.
Me too!
That exhaust is all the tunes I would ever need.
Soooo True. Don't know what I was thinking going crazy with a 2000 Watt stereo. Ha, ha...
To exhaust is Tingley, loud, don't like the back firing when you let off it. Other than that, I love everything about it.
Great dude and love some old school Pontiac grunt my friends. Great having you @socalclassic as always1
Thanks Dean! It was great meeting you too... keep up what you do! Love it!
Thoroughly satisfying video. Dude is sharp & humble. DYI build 👍

Yeah, I got lucky he didn't sell it 25 years ago... thanks!
I’m about 4 minutes in and I’m thrilled for you being able to have that car and the history with it.
Another perfect car, Mike you did good here. The story behind the car is just amazing. Badass to the bone, in a stylish way... Thanks Shawn, was a great vid 👍🏻

Great car and an amazing build. I like how this guy is so humble about his work and shared his knowledge with others on his channel. Also cool to see the original mill used for the build.
Thanks BJ! Means a lot...
68-72 Pontiac "A" bodys are some of the coolest, sexiest cars ever made, every time I drive mine I get smiles, nods and thumbs up from everyone. These cars have a soul and they talk to you, they day "drive me"........great video here.
Now this is a gorgeous GTO!! You don’t see a lot of these fixed up like this!!

The body work has to be perfectly straight for a paint job like that car is perfect
Ha! Yeah, I learned that the hard way. :) Thanks!
That is a beautiful ride! I think I’m going to jack the color for my Chevelle lol.
Do it! Can't wait to see it! Thanks!

Agreed! And I need a 71 Firebird to go with mine! Maybe my next build...
The paint and body looks amazing and only 1min in. Now 2in and I'm blown away
Ha! Thanks!
Sweet ride!
Thanks Jesse!
Ohhh nicely done on this build and thank you AutotopiaLA for giving it a chance to shine! Keeping it Poncho under the hood, even reusing the original 400 block.. GREAT choice! We Pontiac folks don't get a lot of time in the sun these days so huge huge thanks for showing this thing off!
Glad you enjoyed it. Crazy to me how rare Pontiac has become. What a wonderful build here
@@AutotopiaLA as a fellow builder of Pontiacs ourselves this REALLY brought a smile when the sound coming out wasn't the LS noise... then pop the hood and all the light blue beauty! Very very nice. More often than not these days we don't see many Poncho projects getting finished without a Chevy heart. Huge kudos to him on the build and to you for highlighting it!
@@LucoreAuto Thanks! I really appreciate it!
@@FastMonty For sure! Actually just dropped the 461 (455) back in our '70 LeMans a couple days ago so we're on a similar journey. And goooood call on the electric cut-outs that's a MUST on these beasts, mild when you need to be.. while when you WANT to be!
@@LucoreAuto Ha ha for sure! Just subscribed to you guys... keep at it!
Old school muscle that pounds the ground like an earthquake!👍👌🤙😎🤓
Thanks Rob, it is fun mashing that right pedal.
Badass ride. Love it

Im so so soo glad he kept it Poncho, I'm keeping mine Poncho as well.

That is one of the best sounding cars I have ever heard.

How about that GT500 in the beginning
Its a 71 it aint worth it
WOW! This is the 3rd UA-cam channel I've seen this car on! Just shows you how awesome this car is!
Ha! Thanks!
He did this car justice. I like cheater slicks and fatty tires with a nice rake but objectively, this is damn near perfect
Thanks Nicholas... much appreciated.

4EVER
Thanks Mike! Agreed!
This is a stunning build - very cool and the history is even better
Thanks! Much Appreciated!
Love the GTO. That one is bad ass.
Them wheels thou
I have a 1969 GTO convertible with the fixed headlights. Unlike the "common" opinion of most GTO fans, I actually think that the 1969 model year looks best WITHOUT the hideaway headlights. I think the fixed headlights make the car look more aggressive. Maybe it's because I also have a 1969 Chevelle SS 396 and the fixed headlights on the GTO kinda makes the front end look similar to the 69 Chevelle SS. Plus with the fixed headlights you don't have to deal with leaky vacuum lines and floppy, sagging headlight covers!
Ha! Thanks Johnny... totally agree.
Well, all you do is replace the vacuum actuators with electric ones. They have kits for the 1st gen camaros.
Man that is one bad azzzz goat, the sound of the exhaust is so so so sweet.
Sure is a wonderful car
Thanks Jack!
Love the stance and those retro style wheels.
Thanks Troy!
