This makes me happy to see a father so dedicated. I loved my father and we would go on hunting trips all of the time. But in 1987 when I was 8, he was killed in a train wreck when the train he worked on wrecked into an oil tanker, blowing it up and killing my dad. I inherited half of his guns and my brother got the other half. My uncle and my brother and I always get tears in our eyes when we go on hunting trips up in the mountains, knowing we have someone missing from the group. Love you dad

I don’t know if people somehow missed the part of the video where the narrator explains Alaska’s laws regarding game animals, but as someone who lives here, trust me, there are very serious laws when it comes to wasting meat. These men didn’t go out to “trophy hunt” and no one “deserves” this 😔

Wrangell St Elias park is amazing. I’ve been there twice. The great thing about it is how desolate it is. It’s kind of the forgotten national park of Alaska. The mountains dwarf the Colorado Rockies. And yes, I understand Colorado has more 14,000 foot mountains, but those mountains start at a 5,000-7,000 foot base, so they are only 7,000-9,000 feet tall. In the Wrangell mountains, they start at a 2,000 foot base or so and rise to 12,000-16,000 feet. Or, 10,000-14,000 feet tall.
The drive there is breathtaking. You can see the mountains 40+ miles out. The hikes are great. Only thing is the last time we went we had our 2 1/2 year old daughter with us and had to play it safe because of bears and whatnot. It was pretty much just get out and look, but still totally worth it!

@Yog Sothothologist According to Wikipedia, there were casting auditions for a potential new season in 2013, but no new episodes. I wonder what sort of ordeals they'll cover if the show does get revived again.

The cost of a rescue helicopter$1000 fuel $400 Pilot $200 Medic 2 $200 Doctor $400 Surgery $10 000 hospital bed for 2 weeks $1400 medication and bandages $500 Psychologist $500 = $14600 it could be more for this is just the basics. All this for a hike in the woods or a boating accident or any water adventure. Then the rescuers could go wrong and damage themselves. Is your lonely walk worth it? Or are you selfish? Make sure you have all bases covered.

Do people eat sheep meat?! Not that I have ever heard. Seems more like just a trophy. So sad if that's true.
