To solve your connector problem just put a little piece of paper in the female side and the male end will slide in snug, I know that’s what she said, lol 😂 It’s just a temporary fix, It’s worked for me many times when I was out racing and didn’t have time to fix it properly.. Loving the Vigilante, that thing is a beast!!!!
That thing drives ungodly smooth in the bowl, smooth on the ramps and smooth on the landings. Incredibly satisfying to watch. Apart from the continuous battery connector issues. 😂

Simple fix would be one wrap of electrical tape around the connection or a little zip tie through the wires. I bought some xt90 to ec5 adapters off eBay for 5 dollars and they work perfectly. Love the video though. It sure is a fun truck! I don’t regret getting it at all
That truck jumps better than the Xmaxx in my opinion… and lands so nice and solid!!

She flies like I always dreamed it would in my mind back when I kept saying that they needed to do this. I'm so happy they did and it's totally lived up to what I hoped it would be. I really hope I can clear out enough room and have the scratch to get one eventually! Great video brother, man it flies so nice! I do hope they come out with a revised center brace that will fix the battery issue too! Knowing Redcat, they probably will. They have a good history of fixing any release problems. 😊 👍 💯🤜🤛

The weight of the wires is also making it come apart. Its best to ziptie the leads to the chassis braces. This way its not flopping around yanking on the esc even with the right connector.
Nice vid just keep a roll of electric tape with you and tape the connection its a bummer when they come loose on a big air jump even the correct plugs can come loose tape solves the problem 🙂
I see where you could have put the wires to stop them from coming apart… but I’m not there to show you😳… lol. You’ll figure something out, you always do🤙🏻

Take a paint marker and color the entire side of the positive and negative, wrap black tape around the connectors to hold them together, yeah Guy it's not right but it won't unplug when you hit bumps , lol, pretty sure I learned that from watching you. Lol, BTW I don't read others comments so it's possible that information is already in the comments but I just wanted to share my Jerry rigged engineering lmfao
Love the jag ..love the video,s your red cat looks to be boss. Can you zip tie your battery connectors so they don't come unplugged when you bass. Use the real thin zip ties they work great for me over the years to keep my Batts from coming unplugged when heavy bashing.
Try some thin zip ties,longways over both connections,between the wires,cut em off when you change packs and re-do.

If you put the correct connectors on they wont come out so easily also makes it impossible to reverse the connection 👍 Thats interesting though cause I didnt know you could just jam two different plugs together like that and have a ton of interruptions during an otherwise good time. Also possibly cook your connectors and wires, maybe they heat up so much they desolder themselves and do some of the work for you?

True, but I'm glad they chose to use the body they did instead of some crazy unrealistic traxxas thing. A body can be had easily since it has body clips and not some proprietary clip in system. The mechanics of the chassis are the important part.
get some connectors or heat the yellow casings a little and squeeze them to get tighter fit ,awesome truck though 👍👍😃

It's funny how you've taken all of your "littles" to that skate park and it was too much for them, and you take this thing there and it almost seemed to be not enough! Seems to fly and land real nice! It stinks about your battery issues though. The ones Thunder and ExoCaged use fit okay. I'm really tempted to get this but my concern is parts availability. I hate ordering stuff and waiting and most local shops here don't carry Redcat stuff.
This truck for me isn't a pass it's a total buy it now. Luckily I have the LHS stocking this and parts to boot 👍💯👊 if you drive one it might seal the deal

You don't sound hateful at all but if you've never seen my videos I run it out of the box as is and I really wasn't expecting the plugs to fall out as easy as they did it's not a good connection point I do have adapters that are already on their way but that's not the route that I'm going you'll see at some point in another video the change

Red/Black paint marker as a +/- reference and zip tie the ESC wire/connector so it can't flop around everywhere, backflip Guy!
I'm glad you have this truck and are reviewing it. Especially long term. It's nice to have different people and perspectives testing the same vehicles because not everyone has the same experience or driving style. I'm curious what your opinion on the handling of this truck is in comparison to the arrma and traxxas equivalents
It's crazy to say but this thing just took the top spot that my outcast 4S had and I know it's not a comparison but you asked about driving feel I think. And the driving feel of this truck compares to the outcast 4S meaning it drives like a smaller RC but in a big way. And that has caused this truck to be my top 2024 so far 😳
@@rcguygarage that's awesome to hear. It does look like it handles very well. Doesn't look sloppy. And it comes with hobbywing electronics! Is this a sensored system? Looks like the steering system is also really good and in no need of upgrades. I'm in Canada and this Redcat vigilante comes in at half the price of an xmaxx. I have driven an XRT and I did really really enjoy that. If money was no object I would choose the biggest most professional grade race chassis I could. Probably tekno or x ray 1/8 truggy. They don't make anything bigger but they are race companies only. It seems most RTR vehicles don't satisfy my desires and I end up replacing changing or upgrading some compliments. That being said, the most fun I could ever have with an RC is being able to just send it and not care about the cost of fixing it when I break it. I think this kind of fun can be had in every scale, especially at a skate park. Gravel pits do tend to be rough and the larger scales do much better there. Anyways, I have enjoyed your channel and I do look forward to more content. I think something that is important to people is long term ownership. I don't see most RCS as a buy and replace when it breaks toy. I believe in fixing them when they break instead of just getting a new one.

Guy looks like a fun bash session. If you take a 2mm hex tool and push it inside of the connector on the ESC side to widen contact points. That should fix the problem.

Hey guy, if you don’t want to tape the connectors after plugging in the batteries, I would highly recommend just soldering on new EC5 connectors to the ESC

But I absolutely agree with you in regards to the battery tray I think that’s absolute insanity Brother. I feel the same way if you have a rig that big you should be out of fit whatever battery on God’s green earth that you wanna put in there.
Have you ever tried to put a non traxxas battery inthe X-Maxx? Way too much complaining about battery trays

@@rcguygarage not really. We have 2 4S packs in the Vigilante and never noticed an issue. When I had the maxx, I tried 3 different brands defore finding a low profile battery that fit that stock tray. My point was, we didn't even see an issue with batteries on this one but I did on the Xmaxx. Also the bullets on the Ec5 and XT90 are the same... if your going to try and use them together, you need to put them under the strap. The wires get warm even with XT90 to Xt90 connections, just fyi! Good run anyway though!
@@NPCRC okay so even given what you just said you're not seeing my side of the point? It's definitely good to have different forms of opinion on any given thing. XT90 and EC5 bullets are not the same size. If the point of contact is not mostly within contact with the other it can generate more heat. Not sure what you're trying to bash down here. @@rcguygarage Not bashing at all. The depth of the connector may not be exact but the diameter and fit of them are. The difference is the XT90 female end is encased in that yellow mold and they fit tight to the ESC side male prongs. The EC5's use the sleeves which also hold each other well. The Battery EC5 though will have too much movement inside of the XT90 ESC end. I change these for customers all the time who get tired of dealing with it... as it seems you are. And as far as out battery layout, I have mine facing the other way and lay the cables under the straps, using one velcro strap to hold battery lead and the other the esc lead... even with XT90's on both. Just so the wires don't flop. Your battery wires must be a little shorter as I seen you mention not being able to reach. That would have saved you alot of heartache with the connector issue if they were longer.
As far as the opinions go, I get more then just my opinion. I run an RC Shop and get many peoples feedback and opinions and can base things I seen off of mine and multiple others. 4 Vigilante's sold and no one has mentioned the battery issue, So a difference in packs, not opinions, may be more to be noted here. Its all good, it is VERY close after looking further... That comment came more from your unboxing video comment where you were making that such a deal and putting it on Redcat... I had dealt with a few years of this with Traxxas and just felt a different way, thats all!
Get some xt90’s on that esc . You’ve got plenty of wire and would only take 5min to solder 🤙😉

As a life long skater it’s interesting to watch the lines you take in the park very similar to how a skater would carve the bowls.
I think sometimes things have a natural flow to them in their design
@rcguygarage 100% stay high in the transition through the corners use the hips to generate speed. As far as RC in the park goes the only thing is small stones if the truck goes from the dirt to the concrete it could bring some with it. Hard urethane skateboarding wheels 99a -101a hate stones it stops them in there tracks. If you keep that in mind and take a dust pan most skaters will appreciate that your aware of it. But stoke is stoke your having fun and it shows I really like that enjoy the parks let it rip!

Well zip tie in that way would work but no quick disconnect if battery issues way I run a Y connection from ESC to the battery but yes FIX THEM CONNECTIONS. AWESOME video man love it.
