I do understand the angle you are coming from, but remember we learn differently and our brains are design differently. When I started learning networking some years ago, I started with Todd Lammle PDF material back in my undergraduate days and it really gave me good understanding about networking concepts before using videos and hands on lab.My advice is people should know themselves and determine the best way they learn fast.

What he's trying to say is that learning a topic, especially technical topics, reading books are the most passive method of learning. You are correct that we learn differently, but learning needs to be active, multimodal, and repetitive.

It's hard to learn when don't understand what's in the book learn first from videos or hands on

I totally understand where you are coming from. I’m currently studying for network plus, and purchase a book by Mike meyers. I had to stop to create my own method of learning than reading the book page by page. His book didn’t follow the flow of how I wanted to go through each objectives first to make sure I fully understand each objectives

So should the steps to learn be something like...
    1)Have book on hand
2)Choose which technical subject to learn from book
3)Go to youtube, labs, hands on research
4)Look at book to make sure what you did on research was accurate.
    ?
