Going through the book is VERY valuable. We must remember that this person's native language is not English and the books are written in English. He probably has become very good at getting around this but for English speakers the book DEFINITELY HELPS...I can see how if I didn't speak English videos would help more.

I'm using this approach on my AWS SAA exam. I purchased the practice exam too and not sure if I really know the tech or I ended up memorizing the practice exam.
